18 Chapter 18: Sage

(Roman: POV)

After Emma agreed to join me I smiled like an idiot for a couple of minutes.

But then quickly collected myself.

Since the two of us had business to attend to.

Namely Vinny.

Since we knew he wouldn't simply let Emma walk away, namely because Emma told me so to myself, her and I decided to pay him a little visit and handle him permanently.

Since both Emma and I knew that if we left him alone Vinny might become an issue.

Albeit a small one, since he wasn't much of a threat to begin with, but an issue nonetheless.

And I'm not the type of guy who let's issues like that remain.

So Emma and I killed him.

But not before draining his mind of any information we deemed relevant.

Like the passwords to his various bank accounts.

Public and hidden.

Once that was completed we left Vegas and returned to Jersey City.

Where I introduced Emma to ADAM.

And wasn't that the interesting meeting.

Though given everything else I had already shown Emma she took it in stride.

Proving to me once again that recruiting her was the right decision.

Oh and speaking of Emma after digging into her past I found the version of her in this world was a combination of her comic book self and X-men film live action self.

Since she has an elder brother named Chrisitan Frost, who went was put through the same shit in this world by his and Emma parent's, and I use the term loosely, as he was in the comics. But she doesn't have any sisters.

Which I just rolled with.

Since questioning the history of certain people in this crazy world will give me a headache that I don't want.

Better to leave that shit alone unless absolutely necessary to touch upon.

Moving on.

After a few days passed and Emma got settled in, into a luxury apartment which she purchased herself, the two of us went to work.

What I mean by that is is that I began introducing Emma to the plans I wanted to implement as well as many more of the threats that were out there.

I also started training her.

Mainly in hand-to-hand combat.

Since her skills pertaining to the discipline were atrocious.

I couldn't just stand by and watch after that one time I asked her for a demonstration of her skills.

So I began pounding her pretty little ass whenever I could until I saw improvement in her technique.

Her fighting technique that is.

The progress was slow going but Emma did start improving.

Which was good.

It means that when we finally find a way to unlock her secondary mutation she'll become even more deadly than she already is.

Since her organic diamond form powers haven't manifested yet.

Though I do have several ideas in mind in how to activate the mutation in Emma.

Sitting in front of my desk filled with computer monitors I was reviewing information I had asked ADAM to collect for me when the AI in question spoke up.

"Roman. I have managed to locate another individual from the list of names you gave me." He spoke.

ADAM then began displaying said person information on the computer monitors.

Scanning it with my eyes I quickly read through it all.

Then once I was finished I stood up, which ADAM knew was the signal to stop running the information across the computer monitors.

"Inform Emma I will be out for a while." I said.

Placing my Sling Ring on my right hand.

"Of course sir." ADAM replied.

"Thank you." I told him.

Opening a portal with my Sling Ring as I did so.

I then jumped through it.

Hopeful that I was about to gain yet another recruit to my organization.

Trekking through the shubbery in front of me I kept all of my senses, both natural and magical, on high alert.

Partly to keep an eye out for the person I have come here to find, and partly so no one or nothing takes me by surprise.

I continued my trek uninterrupted until I eventually reached a cave.

Smelling a female scent inside, thanks to my enhanced senses, I hoped it was the person I was searching for.

If not I would need to continue my search.

Though that doesn't bother me all that much.

If I need to continue I need to continue.

Simple as that.

Entering the cave I continued walking until I was deep inside.

The light around fading as I did so.

Most of it that is.

When I reached a point inside the cave I saw a flickering light.

The moment I did so I moved toward it. Getting closer and closer until I could make it out clearly.

It was a campfire.

And seated right beside it was a young girl with short-dark hair, dark-colored eyes, and slightly tan skin.

Looking at her I knew it was the person I was looking for.

Sage.

'ADAM truly is amazing.' I thought.

Despite me only giving him a small bit of information about Sage he was able to estimate her approximate location after only a few weeks of searching.

It truly makes me glad I have him as an ally and not and enemy.

And that it stays that way forever.

Seeing me Sage quickly scrambled and brought up an AK-47 and pointed it at me.

'Seriously.' I thought.

Do I have something that makes woman want to point guns at me during our first meeting now?

I really hope I don't.

Otherwise it will just make my life more hectic than it already is.

Which I do not want nor need.

Keeping my eyes focused on Sage I held my hands up and open in her direction.

"There is no need for that. I am not here to hurt you." I said.

"Then why are you here?" Sage asked me.

"To take you away from this place and to offer you a chance to be a part of something more." I said. "If you're willing to listen that is."

Sage took a few seconds to respond.

"Speak." She said.

Once she did so I did exactly as she asked.

Stepping through the portal I opened I found myself back in the warehouse in Jersey City.

The moment I did I found Emma staring me.

"Welcome back." She said.

"Thank you." I replied.

Just as I did so Sage stepped through the portal.

Since after chatting with her at length for a couple of hours she agreed to become part of my organization.

With the knowledge that if she ever wants to leave she can.

Since I don't plan on keeping anyone as a member of my group against their will.

Though if and when that does happen I need some countermeasures to make sure they never reveal what they know about our organization.

It's harsh but I won't take any chances where the safety of myself and my people are concerned.

The moment Sage was through the portal I closed it.

I then introduced her and Emma to each other.

"Emma, this is Sage. Sage meet Emma Frost. Oh and last but most least there's ADAM." I spoke.

"Greetings Sage." ADAM.

Hearing a voice from the computer monitors Sage got stars in her eyes.

Running over to the screens she and ADAM began chatting.

Brining a smile to my face.

Since it looks like Sage won't be going anywhere.
