40 A Little Compensation (1)

Shane closed his eyes to take a quick nap, he felt so tired although it was only 7'o clock in the evening.

He sighed deeply, 'Why can't I just sleep?! ohh.... One sheep! two sheep! three sheep....'

When he reached 159 sheep, he heard a soft voice drifted in the air and filled his room, 'What was that, am I dreaming already? hmm.... Is it Anna?!'

His eyes fluttered open and his ears tuned to her sweet voice...

'The days we spent together, is it a dream or a desire come true...

You are my Sun and I am your moon, your only moon...

May this day stretch and stretch with no end to it...

----

You are my sun and my spring...'

He stood up and paced downstairs, he found that the hall was empty, 'Where does everyone go, where is the housekeeper?'

He detected the voice is coming from the kitchen, he went in and found Anna was preparing dinner. he was still comprehending the hidden meaning behind the words, 'You are my sun and my spring'

"Anna!" Shane stopped her with a troubled expression, "What are you doing here?"

Anna smiled back and replied gently, "Cooking dinner for us. I am bored, so I considered making special dishes for today's dinner."

"What?!..." He looked at the kitchen contour and found that it was filled with veggies and other ingredient, he gulped and looked around one more time, "Did you also ask the housemaid and the rest to leave?" Shane fired back.

"Yes, I asked them to take off, Is that wrong?" Anna comprised her words and continued after significant consideration, "Since you are staying over for the first time, I thought maybe I should cook for you today."

She smiled warmly hoping that Shane would appreciate her efforts, 'Am I a good wife! please, please, pat me please!'

"You are not a housemaid, Anna! And this is not the place where you belong." He pointed the kitchen and then continued with his usual soft tone which he always reserved for Anna, "What you have been through in your old home were all in past, you can forget it forever.

Now, you are not the same anymore and I will never lock you up in the kitchen like a housemaid. You are free but it also comes with your own responsibility. Now, follow me to the study room." he made a hand gesture for her to walk with him and he neglected all her attempt to gather his care and attention.

"But Shane I have started it, how about we give this one day an off and I promise, I will not enter the kitchen ever after, Is it fine?"

"Follow me!" He shook his head in dismay and tugged Anna along with him to the study room.

"Did you go through all the documents." even before opening the door he questioned her.

'Why do I feel like attempting a surprise test, gruesome!' Anna pouted her lips and with a detached voice, she noted, "Yeah, I did! Current CEO of Symonds holds 42% shares and BMF corporation already acquired 17% shares..."

"Our Grandmother's share is still on hold. So BMF stands second in position and forcing us stay behind. Most importantly, Even if we pull all the remaining shares, we cannot surpass Current CEO of Symonds Corporation, Clayton."

"Currently, we are in a power struggle with BMF. Only if we suppress BMF, we can take our next lead to surpass Clayton in future." Anna completed her speech with much pride.

'Ahh... I have done so much homework for this. It took me a week and I have gone through numerous articles and news to gather all this info. I, most definitely deserve to get a high five for all my recent hard work.'

"Good!" Shane replied back with a single word.

'Is that all! A simple good. how was that enough?' She sought, "Did I miss something? Did I made through your expectation?"

Shane laughed back at the girl, 'Is she looking for my appreciation?' "Yes, you did a nice job"

His appreciation made her fly in the air, she smiled back, 'yey! I passed it for the first time.' But his next sentence made her slump back to earth crushing her wings.

"But all those details are already known to everyone, Now, our primary object is 'What is the next move, how are we planning to surpass BMF corporation once for all?"

Anna blacked out, 'How would I know? That is not something for a teenager like me, I am dead. I am so dead.'

Anna hesitated and asked back awkwardly, "What should we do?"

He smiled back, "Don't worry, I will help you in this matter but can be done only after knowing your share amount in your grandmother's will. I'll stand side by side to support you and also do keep up the good work!"
