Chapter 2 : Engagement party (2)

Jane entered without waiting for the reply. She got the shock of her life in just one second. She couldn't believe that it was her sis-in-law who was standing in front of the mirror.

Rachel was wearing dark blue with the black lace gown. It was an off-shoulder dress with small diamonds stuck on it. They were like twinkling stars in the night sky. She had worn small diamond studs along with a small chain with a star pendant. Her black hair with caramel highlights was braided sideways leaving few loose curls at the side. She was 5'6 height with a beautiful face and slender legs. The most attractive part of hers was jet black eyes. It was like a black hole that could engulf everything. With little makeup on, she looked way too perfect for her good.

"Wow! sis, you look stunning in your dress, just like a fairy..mm but without the wings haha!"

Jane exclaimed with little hearts popping out of her eyes. Rachel laughed seeing her overreaction, "Look who is speaking here. You are my little angel, always looking beautiful."

"Sis, tell something which I don't know. Anyways, dad is waiting for us outside. Come, let's go and make the guys go blind seeing our beauty." saying this Jane dragged her towards the stairs.

Near the stairs, Colin was waiting for his daughters wearing a grey tuxedo. Hearing the clicking sound of heels, he turned towards them and got stunned. He had treated Rachel, his daughter-in-law as his daughter. Seeing them together with his heart melted also felt pain. Though he had lost his son Eric, he couldn't see Rachel drowning in sorrow. He wanted her to experience everything in life like other girls of her age do. He believed that it was her right to be happy. Hence he made her accept this engagement as he believed that Darren would give her his best.

They both reached Colin with a smile on their faces. He took Rachel's hand, "Happy birthday dear. You look beautiful. Dad is so happy for you."

Rachel kissed his cheek saying, "Thank you, dad."

Jane whined, "Dad what about me? You don't even see me now?"

He laughed. "Of course darling, you are as stunning as ever in your gown. Everything will be perfect if you don't cause any trouble in today's event."

He offered both the hands to his daughters. All three of them started making their way towards the main hall.

The main hall was filled with family members and business partners everywhere. Everyone turned towards the trio who were coming down the stairs. Guests were in awe seeing them.

Colin felt proud of seeing their reaction. He said in a low voice, "I have the two most beautiful roses on my sides."

Gabriel welcomed them with a warm hug. Darren and his parents also came towards them. Darren went forward, kissing the back of Rachel's hand he said, "Happy birthday love." She took her hand back after thanking him. Everyone teased them for being all lovey-dovey.

After the birthday celebration, they were going to exchange rings. After the small talk with others, Rachel avoided people, went and stood on the balcony. Seeing her alone, Darren went up to her and put his arm on her shoulders saying, "Hey love." As expected, she removed his hand awkwardly and said, "Well, the party is going to start. Everyone will be looking for us. Let's go."

Seeing her running away from him, he sighed and went inside. After excusing herself from him, Rachel walked towards the hall.

'No matter how much I try, I just can't accept Darren. I'm not worthy of his love. He deserves better..'

When she turned towards the corridor, she felt a strong pair of hands grabbing her around the waist. She was pressed towards the wall by a muscular body behind her back.

Thinking that it might be Darren, turning towards the side she said angrily, "Darren, what are you doing? Let go of me now. Otherwise, I'm going to...mm.."

Before she could finish her sentence her mouth got sealed by that person's lips. She felt pain when he bit her lips. It was more like a punishment.

Before she could push him, he left her lips.

"Rach, I'm back."

She stood, frozen with a blank expression. She remembered the voice and also the kiss before, which had made her dead feelings to return.

He leaned towards her ears and said, "I hope you still remember your promise."

She never thought her one thoughtless word could get her into this kind of situation. It confirmed one thing.

'Yes, he was back. He was back to show the world that she belonged to him. To him only!'
