Chapter 1: River Inside a Dream

There were screams everywhere, Metal clashing against bone and rivers of blood with dark red and golden blood.

I've been seeing and hearing those same sounds every night inside a dream. I can still remember the dream like it was yesterday. I saw myself looking into a river where there were corpses made of monsters and people, the monsters looked like lions stitched together with lizards with sharp blades made from bones coming out of their arms.

What surprised me was that I saw myself. I was wearing a helmet made of iron and a shirt made of chainmail, but that still didn't stop me from dying a pathetic death to one of my trusted comrades. Stabbed in the back and dying in a ditch. I wished I knew what happened before the battle, but I could only see what happened after.

A day after I had it, it was as though I could see what would happen to everyone who stayed in the small apartment complex I live in. Many would die, some would become heroes, and a few would turn into monsters themselves after drinking the golden blood that came from them.

I went outside to see a lively city where the streets are filled with cars stuck in traffic and people walking on the side street. If only they knew that in a few days, the streets would be empty. I tried to go to my parents who lived outside the city wanting to warn them about what's to come, but they didn't believe me.

Sad and tired of arguing I just could prepare for the worst by buying things I thought would be useful like food and water they thought I was crazy if only they knew what would happen in a few days.

I saw an old workshop on my way back that was abandoned for 8 years, I peeked inside and found something that would surely be of help. It was a rapier I don't know why it was gathering dust inside here, but it would be better in my hands than in another's. I tried swinging it.

'It's heavy'

For some reason, the rapier was heavier than what I expected. I needed to use two hands to swing it towards the pillar of the workshop. The pillar cracked but was still stable enough to survive the weight of the building.

"Not bad."

'If I learn how to use it properly It'll help me survive my death.'

As I got back home my parents weirdly looked at me, I could tell they were wondering why I had a rapier and a bunch of food and water, I said It was a hobby of mine. They believed it and went on with their lives.

If only they knew what would happen in 3 days.

I know this chapter was a bit short but I was tired making this since it was late. The next chapters will be longer.
