Jeffrey

The Writers Dimension is a place for Authors, Poets, Scriptwriters, Songwriters, and the like. There are many different dimensions and these dimensions were always open to allow easy access well except for the Viewers Dimension, which consisted mostly of novel readers, movie watchers, etc... It was easy for people in other dimensions to go in but viewers were rarely ever allowed to exit.

Trost is a small city in the Writers Dimension, populated mostly by authors. There were other writers but their population wasn't even up to ten percent.

On a street in Trost city, Jeffrey silently listen to May's endless chatter as they walked home together, it was a daily occurrence so he was already used to it, well most of it.. May was Jeffrey next door neighbor so as much as he tried to avoid her, he simply couldn't and she always stuck to him like glue which was pretty annoying.

"I heard Moon is writing a new novel, I'm so excited"

At the mention of his elder sister's name, Jeffery's face cringed. He had always hated that name, compliments to his uncle, a poet who felt it nice to name his brother's children. The worst part was his parents actually liked the name.

Jeffrey himself had gotten one. Every time he heard his parents call him Sun, he shivered. He had his name changed himself, that was the first thing he did after learning how to write properly. But as most people knew him as Sun, he was never really able to escape the name and because of that he held a certain amount of dislike for poets.

"When are you gonna get started on your assignment? you can call me over if you need help" May said, snapping Jeffrey out of his thoughts.

"It's just a bedtime story" he shook his head without glancing at May.

"I know, I just need an excuse to meet Moon" May giggled. Jeffrey just sighed and continued ignoring her until they eventually got home.

"Sun you're back" Tina, Jeffery's mom smiled as she saw him walk in.

Jeffrey smiled bitterly before turning to his mom. "Yeah I'm back, where's dad?"

"He's busy and might be home late". His mom was weaving something, she's been doing that a lot lately. Jeffrey just assumed she was looking for inspiration.

"Okay, I'll be in my room. Call me when it's time for dinner" Jeffrey said and then walked up the stairs to his room.

"Hey, Wex" Jeffrey called out to his pet weasel after keeping his bag on a stool. Wex was a present he got last year from his little aunt Tulip on his birthday. It was a white weasel whom he cherished a lot.

After taking a shower, he decided to get started on his assignment. It was just a bedtime story, that is true but Jeffrey never did anything without giving it his absolute best.

He took out his phone and decided to check out some bedtime stories.

Unlike most dimensions that had lots of restrictions on accessible apps, the writers dimension had almost no restrictions because authors required inspiration, and blocking their access to most things meant destroying them.

After checking through some stories, he had a few ideas and started jotting them down. A bedtime story aims to help a child sleep so it should not be too long. Having that thought in mind he started writing.

After editing his writeup the third time, he heard a knock.

"Dinner's ready dear" he heard his mom say from outside the door.

"Coming mom" he made sure to organize his desk before going downstairs.

Reaching down, he saw his sister helping his mom set the table.

"Hey, Sun" Moon smiled. She knew very well how much her brother hated the name but she still called him that every time just to spite him.

"Hello Sky" Jeffrey answered back making Moon frown.

"You two should not start this. Moon, go ahead and serve the dishes" his mother said.

Jeffrey then sat down quietly, waiting for his food to be served, but after seeing the black stuff a frown appeared on his face and not just him. His mom and dad had the exact same expression.

"What is this thing?" Jeffrey stared at Moon because only she was capable of murdering food to this level and interestingly, she called it cooking.

"It's a new dish I came up with, the female lead in my book will prepare it for the male lead, so taste it and tell me your honest opinion," Moon said smiling happily.

Jeffrey silently stared at his mother before he turned to Moon and spoke up. "Is she trying to kill him?"

Moon's smile dropped. "Of course not, it's an act of love"

Jeffrey then took a deep breath before pushing his plate away. "If this is an act of love, I dare not imagine what hatred will look like. Congratulations, I underestimated you, who knew the soup last week was not your worst? please, enlighten me, which ingredient did you use to create this abomination?"

Moon was furious and turned to her mother who was trying to avoid her gaze. She then turned to her father but he also did the same. Seeing no one support her she pouted before turning back to Jeffrey.

"For your information, this dish that non of you appreciate was made with just a potato. See, I did not even waste food" Moon justified herself.

Jeffrey just stared at her before a small sign escaped his lips. "So, a potato can become like this, you wanted my honest opinion right, this thing looks like shit. How did you think we'll be able to eat this stuff?"

"That's enough Sun we'll just order pizza" his dad finally mediated.

"Okay, dad. I'll go wash my hands again" Jeffrey said before leaving.

"Mom, dad, I can't believe you guys supported him. You didn't even stand up for me one bit" Moon complained.

"Just let it go, please" her mom pleaded. She did not want the same conversation to happen again. Normally she would side with Moon but her dish today was really bad.
