1 Skipping a beat

Al Biyu, a fantastic name. Her first name, Biyu, means precious stone, and her last name, means loving. Biyu's parents have always told her as a child that her name suited her. It's ironic now that she thought about it, because all they tell her now is how incompatible her name was, and they never let her hear the end of it. And the reason why is that Biyu, a 19-year-old girl, has never been attracted to anyone romantically.

Her parents took her to a psychologist, and she was labeled as an asexual. Her family received this news in the worst way possible. They were angered and decided that she had a mental disease of some sort. Her family is a prestigious business family. They are the biggest monopoly in Brazil. And they recently moved to China for business matters. Her mother is Brazilian, and she started her company in Brazil, while her dad is Chinese and he started also his company in Brazil. They got married, and their companies intertwined and became a great monopoly. While she lived in Brazil with her parents, they made her take mandarin classes to preserve her father's language. She had outstanding grades and graduated early from high school and finished college at the age of 18. She offered so much to her parent's company and flawlessly managed many of the profits. Her parents were impressed immensely but still didn't let her hold a permanent seat due to the fact that she was an asexual. Even though they shut out the news tightly, rumors still flew around. And now the public thinks that she likes girls.

"Biyu~" Biyu's best friend, Chunhua Chen hopped into her room with a tray of tea. She is a close friend of Biyu who visited her lots of times in Brazil. Her uncle owns the largest corporation in China while her father owns a vast entertainment industry. "What are you doing?" She asked as she handed Biyu a cup of tea.

"I'm trying to hold a meeting for my parents with Director Wei. His schedule is cramped, so it's taking a while for him to answer," Biyu yawned as she ruffled her towel-dried hair. She took a sip of tea. "Why are you here?" She asked.

"Do I need a reason to visit?" Chunhua grinned. Biyu sighed and stood up from her seat. She combed through her long, silky jet black hair and put it in a high ponytail.

"Yes, you do. You want to go to the cat cafe, don't you?" Biyu sighed. Chunhua gasped then nodded.

She got into the front seat of her pink German car, and Biyu sat shotgun. The cafe wasn't too far, and we got there quickly. Chunhua's high cheekbones were highlighted in the warm sun, and her short hair ruffled in the wind as we walked to the entrance. Biyu furrowed her eyebrows at sight in front of her. A man with black sunglasses was hogging all of the cats. He had a moderately tan skin tone but lighter. He had parted wavy black hair that gave him side bangs. abd had a big bag of treats that captivated all of the cats.

"Excuse me, can you not hog all of the cats?" Chunhua pouted.

The man took off his sunglasses and revealed his dark brown eyes. His eyes seemed large but were almond shaped, and his eyebrows were black, reasonably thick soft arches. He took off his mask and revealed his thin cupids bow lips and sharp jawline. His extraordinary handsome features stood out beautifully. Chunhua gasped at the sight. He squinted his eyes at Chunhua and snorted.

"Chunhua, go play with your idols that your dad owns, you whore," He growled.

"F-Feng Chen, I-..." Chunhua stuttered. She stumbled back, and Biyu caught her quickly. Feng Chen emitted a dangerous and untouchable aura. Even Biyu's voice was slightly caught in her throat.

"Chunhua, are you okay?" Biyu asked. Chunhua nodded weakly. Her face had a thin layer of sweat developing. Who was this guy, and why was she so scared of him?

"Chunhua! Get out of my sight!" Feng Chen yelled. Chunhua shivered and ran away.

"Chunhua!" Biyu yelled after her. Feng Chen looked at Biyu with a mysterious gaze.

"What is wrong with you?" I hollered.

"Your Mandarin is really fluent," Feng Chen said in an impressed tone.

Biyu was dumbfounded.

"Who are you?" I asked with an annoyed face.

"Oh her? I'm her cousin," He said with a disgusted face from the thought of Chunhua.

"Why do you hate her so much?" Biyu angrily asked.

"That information is confidential," He grinned shyly.

Biyu sighed and accelerated her stride towards the door to check on Chunhua when suddenly something grabbed her wrist gently. She turned around and saw it was Feng Chen and furrowed her seductively arched brows and shook his arm off angrily.

"Don't touch me you misfit!" She growled. Feng Chen's face sunk.

"I-I didn't mean to startle you, it's not what you think, I'm sorry," Feng Chen mumbled sadly.

Her heart sank from his sad look. Was this apologetic and sincere kitten-like man the same man that was angrily insulting and cursing out Chunhua?

"What do you want?" Biyu sighed, her voice softening significantly.

"Wait here for five minutes, I'll be back quickly," Feng Chen mumbled timidly.

She nodded reluctantly. It was just five minutes, and she was in a public place, so there wasn't any significant danger. If Feng Chen exceeded five minutes, then she would just leave.

Feng Chen rushed to the pharmacy next door and came out in 2 minutes. He then ran to a luxury clothing store and came out with another bag in precisely 2 minutes and 50 seconds. In those last ten seconds, Feng Chen sprinted his long legs quickly towards the cafe and opened the door. He handed me the bags and bashfully scurried out of the cafe.

Biyu was astounded. That was so quick. She opened the bags, and the one from the pharmacy revealed period pads, and the one from the luxury brand revealed a long and casual dress. She dropped her mouth in shock. What?

Biyu quickly ran to the bathroom in the cafe, and she looked in the mirror. The white dress that she wore had a red stain on the back towards her rear. She hung her head and started to bang her temples against the wall. Why... Why me?

Biyu quickly changed and put her stained outfit in the bag. When she walked out of the cafe, Chunhua's car was gone. She left without Biyu, and she didn't have a ride back home. She hung her head in embarrassment and shame. This had to be the most embarrassing thing to happen to anybody. She looked at the pharmacy from the corner of her eyes. Someone was coming out of the door, but she didn't see who. Someone tapped her on the shoulder lightly.

"Are you okay? I'm sorry I didn't get you pain killers, I just remembered and got them now," A familiar deep voice said shyly. The person put a bottle in her hand. "I got you vitamin water too, you'll need some nutrients since you are losing blood,"

Biyu felt her face flush from embarrassment.

"You look like you're not okay. Should I take you to the hospital?" The familiar person said worriedly.

She raised her head slowly to look at the person. It was the person she feared most that it would be... it was Feng Chen.

His face exceeded in worry after he saw her face. "Your face is so red, don't tell me you were crying? Does it hurt that much? Oh no, what should I do?" Feng Chen said nervously.

She buried her face in her hands and sank to the ground. Feng Chen squatted next to her, his face full of worry.

"Let me take you to the hospital," He furrowed his eyebrows.

"Should I take you to the doctor?" He repeated, but this time in her city's exact Portuguese dialect.

Her tense shoulders relaxed immensely. It had been a whole year since she heard someone speak in her Portuguese dialect and it was so soothing.

"No, thank you. I'm fine. But thank you for the things you bought me," She replied in my dialect but kept her head down.

She heard Feng Chen sigh reassuringly. "That's good," He said in the dialect while chuckling.

She looked up at him with watering eyes. Biyu missed Brazil greatly.

"What's wrong? Didn't you say that you were fine?" Feng Chen said in the Portuguese dialect as his eyes widened.

Biyu suddenly got a call. She took my phone out of her purse and answered. It was Chunhua. "I'm sorry. Biyu... I'm sorry..." Chunhua said drunkenly in mandarin.

"Chunhua! Where are you?" Biyu said, returning to mandarin.

"I'm fine, I'm just drinking at home with my mother," She mumbled drowsily.

"Oh really? Let me talk to her then," Biyu barked.

"Ok! Ok! Sheesh! You caught me!" She chuckled.

"I'm being serious Chunhua! Where are you!" Biyu yelled as Chunhua ended the call.

"She is at her in-laws with her parents. They are drinking together, so she is safe. Don't worry." Feng Chen said reassuringly.

"How do you know?" Biyu asked.

"I'm her cousin. I'm supposed to be there since there is a family gathering," He mumbled as he rubbed the back of his nape.

"Why aren't you there then?" Biyu asked puzzledly.

"That information is confidential." He cleared his throat.

"Are you serious?" Biyu smacked her head.

"Don't do that! You'll get hurt!" He said as he covered his mouth and raised his eyebrows.

"Goodbye," She rolled my eyes and tried to get out of the awkward situation.

"Wait!" He said.

Biyu accelerated her stride to avoid him.

"Don't you need a ride?" He yelled while running after Biyu.

Biyu froze.

"Yes," She mumbled with a poker face.

He grinned as he led me towards his expensive car. She sat in the shotgun seat as he opened the car door for her.

"Do you like-"

"Y'know, these kinds of things that you brag about don't faze me," Biyu interrupted him, thinking that he was going to ask about if she liked his expensive car, which was usually what guys asked her.

"I was about to ask if you like ice cream," He said timidly.

"Oh, I'm sorry, I thought you were going to brag about your money," Biyu apologized.

"Why would I?" He asked while keeping his eyes on the road.

"I don't know, it just seems like guys like to brag about these kinds of things to me." Biyu shrugged.

"Drop a location," He furrowed his eyebrows.

Biyu laughed.

He smiled after hearing her laugh.

"I like your laugh," He said. "It's cute,"

Biyu was dumbfounded. Was he flirting?.

"Just drop me off here," I said, pointing at the bus stop.

He stopped at the red light and looked at me angrily.

"You, Al Biyu, daughter of the prestigious and legendary Al family, an absolute genius and mastermind of the Al market sales, want to ride in a dangerous and unstable cheap vehicle with potentially dangerous people?" Feng Chen growled.

"Like you aren't potentially dangerous? I just met you!" Biyu scoffed.

Feng Chen sunk back into his seat. "This is how you consider me? I think I'll just crash this car and let you and I die!" Feng Chen chuckled as he pretended to struggle with the wheel.

"No! Don't!" Biyu begged.

He grinned and stopped the car. "We're here,"

"You creep!" Biyu smacked his head.

"Ow! What's wrong!" Feng Chen rubbed his head.

"How do you know where I live?" Biyu asked in disgust.

"I can explain! My cousin always goes here, so one time I dropped her off!" He clarified.

"Oh, I'm sorry for hitting you, I take my harsh words back," Biyu said as she rubbed his head.

His face flushed and tried to avoid her hand but failed. He grabbed her hand on pure instinct, and that's when she felt something she hasn't felt in her 19 years of living. Her heart skipped a beat.
