25 Chapter 24 Hide and seek

Cruelty can come with a pretty face. With silver hair and pale green eyes. It can look ethereal and menacing at the same time.

I ignored the desire pooling in my belly amidst the rest of my confused feelings as I ran down the eerie hallway. This is so messed up. I'm messed up. I hate myself for responding to him the way I did after everything he'd put me through. The light energy that encircled me faded away. Neon green Illuminated the hallways making my stomach churn. I do not belong here.

The place is desolate as I ran by and I'm thankful there aren't any Zakerians around. I bet he dismissed all of them so he can play his games with me.

"Hateful bastard," I muttered as I ran down the hallways looking out the glass to my right.

Eden should still be around. I promised him information yet where do I even start? I skidded near another misty glass and looked out but the rain made everything blurry.

I took off again towards the lab. The place that healed me.

once inside I went straight for the vile. I bet Ragnar knew this was going to happen soon. That I would try to outrun Azreal despite the odds. Oh well. they're enemies I hope they just kill each other and leave humanity out of whatever war they are in.

My heart thundered as I took a sniff at the pink liquid.

It smells sweet.

The air stilled and the world felt too quiet. With a gasp, I realized he was close. I stood up and looked around the massive place trying to figure out where I can hide and take off. crouching underneath a metal counter I prayed to a God I don't believe in.

"Come now Aurora you're not even trying," his voice echoed from the entrance and I can hear him stalk towards me in the dimly lit room. He's letting me know exactly where he is. Im done playing this game of cat and mouse, I swear it.

I hid behind another metal desk and crawled in the opposite direction. Away from him. I held my breath in terror.

"You're making it look like you want to get caught." he purred. The hairs on my neck stood erect.

I looked at the pink vile and thought perhaps I could beat him at his own game. At least now I have a chance.

I felt him grab my ankle first and I screamed.

He pulled me out from underneath and I had seconds to prepare.

"I need you to understand that you can't run away from me. The more you try the more I'll punish you." His hand curled around my neck and I kept my lips tightly shut.

"give in." He snarls his eyes narrowed. "You will be well cared for as long as you promise not to betray me." What was that? my ears deceive me. Being beaten half to death made me realize I can't trust anything he says. Strengthening my resolve I took my chance. He's going to get the taste of betrayal sooner than he realizes.

I grabbed his face and kissed him for the first time. Willingly.

I hoped to God that will be the last time despite the butterflies in my stomach. I moved my mouth against his and his eyes widened slightly by surprise. It was satisfying to see him show such a face, despite being an alien king, tyrant, monster, or whatever title that fits his persona. That's the most emotion I've seen on him all this time.

The pink liquid poured from my mouth and into his in seconds and I went crashing against more glass the very next moment. I wasn't sure if I would live to see another day having that poison on my tongue; a poison that was meant to kill this beast. I was just glad it wasn't acid or anything else that would have burnt my mouth or I would've died before anyone else. luck was flirting with me but only barely I thought as I spat on the white-washed floor. Not that it matters anyway. I hope the poison kills him like it was designed to. If not then I'll seal my fate.

Azreal observed the mess I was. Sprawled on the floor, cuts and bruises along my body from the impact. His calm gaze studied me a moment and I waited.

Waited for something. Anything.

I watched in horror as a slow lazy smile graced his face as he regarded me. Why wasn't anything happening?

His hands were on either side of my waist as he suddenly appeared before me and it took everything in me not to quake in terror.

It didn't work. Was Eden lying? was it all an elaborate joke?

"Looks like you made some allies already." His lips quirked in amusement. "So much for not betraying me." His grip tightened and I knew that death would be mercy.

menacing eyes bore down on me. plotting my demise. I knew I lost but I still tried. I thrashed and kicked out hoping for anything. Something.

"Azreal pleas-"

"Remember what I told you." He drawled brushing away my hair and exposing my neck.

"If I catch you," I tried thrashing with everything I had but my body didn't move.

"I fuck you." He murmurs again leaning in, Terror seizes me as I feel something sharp barely graze my neck.

He pulls back and my eyes widened. He had Fangs. Somehow it fit his monstrous nature but I was surprised to see it nonetheless.

"Get ready to scream."

When the fangs pierced the skin on my neck I did just that. I felt something tug deep inside my bones and soul. My body convulsed in spasms of pain. I felt like I was being ripped to pieces only to be pieced together the way he deems fit. I wasn't sure if I was dying or coming alive. Whatever it was I wanted it to stop. I pulled at his Silver strands hoping to stop whatever he was doing. I felt energy surge inside me but the pain was too unbearable.

"please stop." I sobbed hoping for mercy. Azreals grip tightened as he pressed his fangs deeper.

I groaned in pain, grabbing onto him for support. My efforts to escape were forgotten as I fought to keep my eyes open, trying to prevent passing out.

His fangs retracted slowly and I fell onto him. My head rested an inch below his chest. Find it difficult to breathe.

"Breathe, Aurora breathe." He murmurs softly stroking my hair.

"Come now, we haven't even gotten to the fun part yet." I looked up and saw his lips quirk. Of course not. This is just the beginning of my torment.

However, When I looked up I could see black veins starting to appear on his skin. To my shock, his silver strands turned dark as night.

"looks like that stunt you pulled didn't fail you after all." He says his voice too calm and composed. It was terrifying.

It took me an additional few seconds to realize what he meant.

The poison. It worked.

I stepped back in alarm. However, his grip on me only tightened. The snarl he gave me was more terrifying than anything I've ever heard.

"You're going to regret this, pet."
