"Sis! I'm home!"

Announced the dark-haired girl as she entered the silent apartment that was dimly lit. She turned on the lights and entered the living room, only to find nothing but silence. She threw herself on the couch and let out a long sigh.

"Is she working late again?" the girl said as she again sighed thinking about her hard-working sister.

"Come on, Abigail! Let's get up and do some chores! It may be of help to her, even if it's just a little bit. Let's go!" Abigail stood up and headed towards the kitchen where her jaw almost dropped to the ground.

"Why are there so many dishes?! For how many days Aurora haven't washed them?" She took in a long breath and rolled up her sleeves, "Well, Abigail, you just dug your own grave" She addressed herself before starting to wash the dishes.

*Bang*

The glass hit the table, making me flinch. I helplessly sighed at the girl in front of me who was fully drunk, literally not caring about any of her surroundings. She was drowned in happiness…maybe?

"You look happier than me," I said, looking at my friend who had full intentions of getting wasted tonight.

"OfcOurSe I am! My fRienD fiNalLy gOt a joB! Woohoo!" My sole best friend exclaimed and danced. She was about to take another shot but I stopped her mid-way.

"That's enough, Hazel Moore! And I haven't even gotten the job yet. My application was accepted only. Tomorrow is the main test, the interview. And I know why you're drunk. You broke up with Florent, didn't you?" I said, frustratingly proceeded to take the shot glass out of Hazel's hand.

She sighed, "Oh, Aurora~ *hiccup* These foreigners are all selfish. They just use you-" Hazel said and suddenly grabbed me by my collar and pulled me towards her, "For your money" she whispered and then banged her head on the table.

"Jeez. Stop being so dramatic for once. Just because you didn't get involved with a good foreigner doesn't mean every foreigner is bad. Just because one apple is bad doesn't mean a whole dozen will be bad as well." I spoke in defence of the foreign innocents.

"Are you aware that you are a totally different person when you are drunk? You dragged me all the way here just to see you wasted? We have to go now. Abigail must be home by now" I exclaimed as the angry picture of my younger sister crossed my mind.

"Abigail, Abigail, Abigail. Oh my swEet litTle AbiGail~ WhY~! ARe yOu hOme~ DoN't yOu syMpAthY tHis sisssTeeRrr~~?" Hazel started to sing in broken English and a horrible rhythm.

All the customers were now fed up with her behavior. I was just constantly apologizing and convincing Hazel to leave but she refused consistently. After half an hour of struggle, I finally managed to take Hazel out of the restaurant. She was on the verge of being blacked out and now all the responsibility was on my poor self.

"Sometimes I really pity myself," I glanced at Hazel who was completely blacked out by now. A sigh left my mouth as I stopped a taxi before throwing Hazel inside and then sat myself. I gave the driver the address to my apartment since I was already fed up with Hazel.

"Ugh. Hazel~!! Wake up!!" I groaned as I dragged Hazel inside the apartment. I was struggling too much for my own good to take my shoes off. But since I was holding Hazel, I gave myself an excuse for my poor health. Soon I heard footsteps coming toward our direction.

"Aurora? Why were there so many di- Hazel?" Abigail stopped mid-sentence when she saw her sister's friend wasted in her sister's arms who would be me.

"Is she drunk?" Abigail asked as she helped me take off my shoes.

"What does it look like? Help her take off the shoes as well please" I asked for her help and Abigail did as per the request, "Sis, you look constipated," said Abigail, trying to hold in her laugh.

"I'll say the same to you when you have to carry a huge elephant from the restaurant to your home all by yourself. Ahh! Finally!" a groan of relief left my mouth the moment I dropped Hazel on the couch and sat on one of the armchairs.

"Yeah yeah. But, Why are you so late? Did you overwork again?" Abigail asked, placing her hands over her waist.

"No, I didn't. As a matter of fact, I got off early. But this maniac dragged me to have drinks with her. First, I didn't understand but soon I got to know that she broke up with her boyfriend" I explained, recalling all the torture she put me through.

"Again?" Abigail looked towards Hazel and then directed her eyes towards me, "How many times has it been by now? I have lost the count of her boyfriends. No doubt people call her a playgirl" Abigail sat down on the only empty armchair.

"How is that her fault? She has taken every relationship pretty seriously, but the other side was never understanding enough. She has always had difficulty expressing herself which is a big drawback in her relationship" I said in defense of Hazel.

"You're right. I hope someone who truly loves her comes into her life soon" Abigail said as I hummed in response, hoping the same for my best friend.

"Okay, I'm tired" I got off the couch, "I'm off to bed since I have an important interview tomorrow. I hope it goes well. If it doesn't..." I stopped in mid-sentence, not knowing how to complete the sentence since I was out of all backup plans by now.

"Don't worry, Sis. You'll ace it! I know it!" Abigail's attempt to hype me up made me crack a small smile despite the nervous instincts taking all over my mind.

"Ah? Aurora? What about Hazel?" Abigail asked, looking towards Hazel who was lying in an uncomfortable position. I stared at her for a moment before returning my eyes to my sister.

"Leave her be. The torture she gave me today is nothing compared to this. Her punishment is to sleep on the sofa!" I declared, "Oh? I forgot to ask. Have you had dinner?" I asked Abigail.

"Mhm. I had it with Hernan. I knew you would be late so~" She shrugged to which I nodded and turned to leave but soon was stopped in my tracks by Abigail, "Sis!" I turned around with a confused look on my face.

"Um…The thing is, I told Hernan about your interview tomorrow and he sent something for you" She said.

"What?" I asked, curiously. "Wait a sec!" And with that, she dashed towards her room and brought her backpack. She placed it on the couch and started to rummage inside.

"Where is it? Oh! Here it is!" she exclaimed. I just looked at her, knowing exactly what was coming my way. Abigail slowly pulled her hands out, shaped like a heart with a smirk on her face, whereas I was just watching her, completely uninterested.

"He sent you lots of love and luck. And said that he will be sending you good wishes constantly" Abigail said, her hand heart still in the air.

A moment of silence took place between us where I was blankly watching her as her posture didn't even flinch for a second. a sigh made its way out of my mouth, "Where did you find this piece?" I asked, referring to Hernan.

"At the University" Abigail replied.

"Oh my God! You're both mad" I walked towards my room and wished her good night, not sparing another glance to Abigail. As I closed the door behind me I heard her voice "Did she not like the gift?" she said to herself. A smile formed on my lips, "I'm glad you found this piece" and with that, I went to freshen up.

After a while, I completed all my little tasks and lay on the bed facing the ceiling, preparing my mind for the important day ahead since sleep was nowhere near me at the moment.

"This is my last chance" I looked at my hand that was up in the air, "I can't lose it, no matter what. Not for me, but for Abigail" I rooted for myself as I made a fist, giving myself courage. Soon my eyes started to feel heavy which led me off to my dreamland.
