3 Ella As Friend

"Cami where are you?!" Ella exclaimed on the other line so I suddenly get puzzled

What's with her again? Today is Saturday and she's disturbing me again just like what she did yesterday. And my patience is getting thinner as time goes by, yes I promise that we're going to meet today but it doesn't mean I'm allowing her to be part of my life. She's still nobody for me.

"Lower down your voice, you're distracting me," I said calmly trying to get back my focus

I mix the color white and black and pile the pigment to create movements on the canvas. I usually do mixing when creating abstract art, because it's effective if you wanted to create texture, tension, and depth on the canvas. I lightly stroke my brush to the left side but I stop on my track when I heard her protest on the other line. She's shouting, good thing I'm all alone here and she can't disturb anyone aside from me.

"Where are you right now? Sabby already texted me that she's on her way together with Andrius " she said like a child

I rolled my eyes before I grab the lighter shade of peach color and I use the palette knife to make a swoop. I nod my head a little as I get satisfied with the result

"Cami Xena!" Ella shout

I hardly look at my phone that is place on the top of the high stool wooden chair because of her sudden grimace. Good thing I remind myself not to use earphones when talking to her, because if not surely my eardrum is already broken right now.

"Cam are you still there? " she asks impatiently

I rolled my eyes and force myself to say something

"Yes, where are you right now?" I ask casually and continue what I'm doing

"I told you that I'm already here in the coffee shop, you said yesterday that we're going to meet here" she immediately replied

"Why so early? I didn't even give you an exact time to meet"

I made a lot of white spaces and created a contrast to define each stroke. Well, there's no specific meaning that this canvas evokes. It depends on the person on how they explore my work, I honestly wanted their imagination to explore the beauty of arts that not everyone can appreciate.

"Because I'm excited"

My forehead creased when I heard Ella's voice on the other line. I thought the call end already because she suddenly becomes silent, I guess I'm wrong then.

"Isn't it obvious that I don't feel the same way?" I hardly reply not minding what would she feel about it

"You promise yesterday Cam! You can't say no this time!"

I wanted to laugh because of the sound of her voice. She's close to crying, I just don't understand why she keeps on clinging around and tailing me. I already told her that I don't want a friend but she's too persistent and it's now annoying. She's demanding me as if we're already friends.

"I didn't promise anything, and are we even friends?" I said with a lack of interest in my voice while still focusing on my canvas

"Don't tell me you're not going to come here?!" Her voice rattled making me laughed softly

What if I said no? Will she cry? Obviously yes, she's too happy yesterday and surely she expects a lot today. I don't know what's with me that she wanted to be my friend.

"Just wait for me and stop talking so that I could finish what I'm doing" I reply

Seconds of silence pass when she speaks again making my forehead creased for the second time around. Why so talkative?

"Where are you, Cam? Sabby said that she's on the way already "

"I'm at home," I said shortly before I put down my palette and brush painting

I glance at the black wall clock that is hanging on the wall of the living room. It's already 8:38 in the morning and I haven't eaten my breakfast yet. I usually eat a heavy breakfast but I just eat a sandwich and drink a glass of milk this morning.

I take off the apron I'm wearing causing the palette knife including the brush paint falls on the floor. I annoyingly stared at how those brush paint rolled creating an unwanted stain on the tiled floor. I let out an annoying sighed. I need to map the floor again, but maybe later. Barefooted, I walk towards the sofa and grab my wallet. I also get my phone that is place on the high stool wooden chair and I press the red button to end the call without saying anything. I'm only wearing loose chiffon color pants and a black sheer mesh short puff sleeve blouse. I don't need to change my clothes as long as I feel comfortable then I'm off to go.

Exactly twenty minutes I arrive at the coffee shop. I immediately push the glass door and I roamed my eyes around to find Ella. My lips purse into a smile when I didn't struggle to find her because of her yellow dress that glows inside the coffee shop. She's also looking around, obviously waiting for someone until her gaze landed on me. As expected her she gave me her bright smile again though I didn't smile back instead I walk towards the counter to order.

"The usual," I said to the guy cashier before he could recite his redundant line

I usually stay in this coffee shop because aside from the fact that it's just twenty minutes away from my place, the vicinity is also friendly and accommodating. The silence is enough for me to think a lot of things.

"Will I add more creamer Ma'am?" he asks me so I wave my hand

I was about to hand him my payment when suddenly I forgot where did I put my wallet. My phone is in my right hand but my wallet is gone. My forehead creased and I search in my pocket. What happens?

"Where's my wallet?" I voice out

"Ah Ma'am"

"Wait a minute"

"Your wallet is here Ma'am"

I automatically lift my head and I followed the thing that the crew pointing and there I saw my wallet place carefully on the counter. My lips form into a thin line and I didn't smile.

"Sorry I forgot," I said with no hint of apology

I get a peso bill on my wallet but I stop on my track as I notice those stained paint on my fingers.

I mentally facepalm because I forgot to wash my hand before going out. Oh well, I can't do anything about it so I lazily handed my money to pay before I walk towards Ella who patiently waiting for me.

I wonder why I can't consider her as my friend.
