20 Chapter 19

"Fuck off. What do you mean you think that I got poisoned?" I stared at Kai with bewilderment while he just scoffed while rolling his eyes, and presumably, he's already regretting that he opened his mouth in the first place. I waited for his response even if he only stared at the ground, collecting his thoughts to try and make me understand with his irritated glare.

He then looked at me and sighed. "Yeah, but that's what I think. You don't need to believe me but I have some experience with this kind of situation."

"And how come you know anything about my situation, Kai? Even I don't exactly know why I'm like this." I told him, wanting to get a clear explanation from him as if I wasn't aware of his past careless actions when he was a very much so rebellious teenager. I wanted him to be the one to make the clarification before I can try and provoke his uncontrollable anger.

Kai's eyes snapped towards me and glared. "I should have never opened my mouth..." He muttered but quickly tried to make up for his words and explained without mentioning anything related to the fact that he used to do drugs. "I actually have a social life, unlike you so I actually witnessed a friend's symptoms exactly like yours and I accompanied him to uh...well, we found out that he was poisoned anyway!" His whole face turned red from embarrassment and fury while I just stared at him blankly.

"Really, Kai? Isn't it weird that a friend of yours got poisoned unless you're involved in things that are unspeakable? No one gets poisoned just because, Kai. Enlighten me with your knowledge of this situation because I can't seem to understand how you know anything about this in the first place." I let out a few coughs and before we both can continue our heated conversation, I grabbed the bucket beside the bed and immediately threw up everything that I ate and drank. He stayed silent and gagging sounds and the shower from the bathroom can only be heard.

He steps towards me and awkwardly placed his hand on my back before rubbing. I don't have the audacity to glare at him because I knew that I have put him in the spotlight of shame and regret other than that, I haven't got enough energy to continue arguing with him and try to hear him admit the kind of life he used to live back then. I don't even know if he's still living dangerously until now.

I finally stopped after feeling like I have also vomited my intestines and organs, as disgusting as the sounds and I wiped my lips with the tissue that he handed me. I glanced at him and he looked at me with saddened eyes and a small frown.

"You know about that, Lu?" He asked, partially admitting that he has done something that is causing his shame and regrets that he's feeling after hearing my words.

I laid back on the bed with an exhausted sigh and nodded. "Yes, Kai. I know all about your way of life. I know you did drugs and I know that you involved yourself in groups of men and women who make the women who gave birth to them regret ever putting them in this world. Gangs and shit that surely makes everything unexplainable to me, Kai. You aren't being abused, you have a nice and comfortable life, you used to have nice and totally true friends, you sure are so dumb to even ruin that and complain about the way your entire life was given to you without poverty or some kind of problem that made you chose the life that you did. Others chose that life because their choices on how to continue living are limited and they don't know what to do anymore while others are just simply menacing and naturally have this danger on them, they're naturally bad guys without any logical explanation. I think I would understand more if you got involved with mafias in Italy because at least they're rich and they don't hurt people unless those people did something to them and it gave them no choice. They're more decent although that word is an overstatement to describe to those kinds of people, your kind of people."

Kai only stared, processing the words that I gave him. I stared back and shake my head at him while my brows furrowed deeply. "Are you still doing things like that, Kai? You deserve so much better."

Kai just sighed. "Okay, fine. I admit to getting involved in there but please don't accuse me of doing those until now. I've learned my lesson because back to what I was saying, I've witnessed different things and one of them happens to be being poisoned or drugged without, obviously their consent. I was lucky enough to be smarter and stronger than any of them to anyone to poison me or drug me. You literally look like one of them and they got poisoned after our doctor inspected him. They died instantly and only some of them lived so I am assuming that you didn't take much of the poison or else you'll be gone already." Kai's brows furrowed and looked at me with concern that he doesn't let me see from him often. It's almost like I'm talking to someone different if it weren't for his confession of his mistakes that are confusing and unforgivable.

"Thanks that sounds really reassuring." I told sarcastically and he glared once again.

"Don't believe me, Lu. Just at least look out for yourself extra carefully and make sure to let out everything from your stomach so the poison could get out. You don't want to be inspected by a doctor so then be it but think logically, please. Besides, I don't want Matt to get involved with your problems, you can trust me, I'll take him after he showers." His voice sounded cold enough to make sure I got the message that that's the end of the conversation and it's the first time that I will let him end our conversation, not me, and it's also actually the first time that our conversation has some decency with it.

I nodded and he turned his back on me while he sat on a chair near the bed, not uttering a word anymore and we both fell silent while I closed my eyes and waiting for matt to finish. I tried thinking about what he told me but I don't recall eating or drinking with someone except Matt and it seems impossible that he's the one to do that. I don't know what to think about that information that Kai gave that might be true because as much as I want to deny what he told me, he sure is right about the social life because I'm not very sociable like him, not socially enough to get involved in illegal and dangerous things so he knows a lot about things like these. About things that I can't process in my mind and if someone really did poison me then I'll make sure to find the suspect and give them hell.

Without wasting any more time, Matt walks out and is completely ready so Kai stood up and approached him, telling him that he will be the one who will accompany him out today because I am still not well. Matt looked at me and I smiled at him reassuringly.

Before they leave, Kai looked back at me. "Alex is waiting in the lobby so I'll call for him to go up here. In the meantime, please take care." He gave me a look, asking for my permission if it was best to call for Alex and I nodded, silently so he nods back, confirming his supposed decision and walked out, before closing the door.

He might be stupid but at least he's acting his responsibility now.
