12 screams

celeste was trying to remain calm before the daunting hunters but fear made it to where she could barely move. the closer they came the more she remembered the stories she had read about humans, they were terrifyingly barbaric creatures. even worse than the arcane 3. Humans raped women, stole from their neighbors, annihalted whole species, and even killed their own children. some were so ruthless they killed their own people by the thousands for mere money or land. while others cruelly starved them while dining on fine foods. this was something none of the magical realm could ever understand. in their way of life, magical creatures own people were sacred to them. especially their children. killing was for getting food or protecting the weak. even demons who loved to fight were protective of their kind and family.

seeing the humans eyes spark with interest at the sight of her, celeste lifted her hand to use a spell when suddenly a small child appeared among the humans. the human child was a 5 year old boy with blonde curls and curious eyes like emerald jewels. in his hand he held an odd doll that resembled a white rabbit. unlike the others he held no trace of malice towards her. just simple wonder.

hesitant to scare the child, celeste lowered her hand and told wren and havoc "wait." before they could pounce on the hunters. havoc immediately understood her thoughts and agreed but wren was livid with their decision. ignoring her plea wren took a step forward. almost instantly a thin man standing behind the boy shot an arrow directly towards celeste.

unable to move celeste closed her eyes, readying herself for the piercing pain but many seconds passed and she felt nothing. suprised, celeste opened her eyes to find a horrific sight. on the ground her older brother lay crumpled pitifully with a bloody arrow stuck through the right side of his chest. dark blood was pumping out from the wound like a fountain seeping into the ground and pooling around her feet.

sucking in a cold breath celeste dropped to her knees while tears flowed down her cheeks. touching his face that became deathly pale she wept. barely audible one could barely hear her whisper "No".

in all the world there was only a few people who had ever treated her with any sort of kindness, among them was wren. it seemed like yesterday that he would sneak to her cell to bring her toys that he had carved from wood just for her.

screams echoed through the forest as havoc finished killing the hunters but celeste was too upset to notice. now gently holding the sleeping child in his arms havoc watched celeste pull out the iron arrow from wrens pale body. seeing smoke rise from her hands Havoc was shocked. he had been aware that iron was detrimental to end a witch but he didnt know how much it would hurt them just to touch it.

the pain was intense for celeste when she grasped the arrow, so who knew how horrible it was for poor wren? gritting her teeth celeste ignored her burning palms and pulled out the arrow as quickly as possible. An awful sound followed with more blood came pouring out from wrens body as she flung the arrow far away. now that the arrow was gone, the gaping wound slowly began to close as wren coughed up the residing blood then sat up weakly to stroke his sisters face. " don't cry sweet celeste, I'm going to be okay".
