4 polite distance

sitting on the silk canopy bed, celeste watched as havoc climbed to the spot beside her. feeling shy celest stared at her lap not knowing what to say.

" you look just like your mother" havoc thought aloud. whipping up her head she stared at the boy with wide eyes.

" you knew my mother?"

After giving a confirming nod havocs face turned serious. "but I'd rather not" he thought to himself. it wouldnt be an exaggeration to say the Great Saints War started because of that coy woman. that temptress and those monster half demon brothers of celeste easily murdered his own mother and siblings.

havoc knew he shouldn't blame celeste but his heart hardened when the memory of their dismembered corpses flashed in his mind. he would never forget monty and wrens sinister smiles soaked in his family's blood. his fist clenched and his heart quickened until he began taking deep breaths. soon he calmed his rage that threatened to spill out.

he must not hurt this innocent girl. she did nothing wrong to him. yet even if she wasnt the culprit of their deaths, he couldn't afford to love this cute wife of his. knowing his clan without a doubt if he treated her too badly or too well she would end up dead at his manor.

it was best to keep a polite distance. if he openly treated her with respect and not love the others will do the same. he might be cruel but he really didn't want anyone else to find out how she was. sweet girls like her wouldn't last long in his family. it would be better to isolate her. those thoughts ran through his mind as he ignored celestes obvious want to talk and laid down quietly.

a little disappointed by his decision celeste blew out the candles, pulled the covers over her body, and tried not to cry. soon she would be gone from here, maybe she will be kept alive but could she still see her brothers? or will she in the end be alone again? she really couldn't tell what havoc was thinking. even though she had just met him, she could already tell that havoc was the type to have moods that swung wide and without warning. winning over this boys heart just as a friend would be more difficult than she had thought, forget as a husband.
