Two

She would like to ask if anyone have already seen the movie called Burden, directed by Gina McCowell but she was certain that no one would answer her because that movie sucks. It only got thirty percent of viewers approval and it did not even got into a two week screening before it got kicked out. For her, that movie is awesome.

"Miss." her driver started knocking on her thoughts when they got into the arrival bay of a tall building near the rural areas. She blinked a couple of times before looking at him by the rearview mirror, "We are here."

The man on the steering wheel has a  white beard covering half of his face, his face is like a worn out clothing of his skull—it is all loose, wrinkles to this side and there. He's old, she will admit that, "Are you sure you are letting me go? Look at you not paying attention."

His voice is as coarse as his skin but his blue eyes remained the same, it always looked gently at her, "Everyday, I will earn a lot of enemies Greg, I don't think you will be my night in shining armor." she replied emotionless while fixing her bag beside her.

"You should get a husband." he giggled again.

"I don't need someone to push me around." she darted her eyes on the entrance of the building and opened the car, trying to avoid further conversation.

"I know you just wanted me safe my lady. I know." the old man whispered to himself before opening his side of the car, "Be careful kid, will be picking you up at seven."

She walked and left him without an answer as she slid her black shades on. Her heels were high, it almost let her reach the height of the two bodyguards opening the entrance door for her.  They both said a word to her, still, she did not replied.

All of the employees stopped as they saw a girl in red top and black long skirt being caged by four huge men; two on her front, two on her back. They all looked at how she swayed her hips and how her knees throw the end of her skirt forward as she walk.

Are they thinking about how the guards remained on her side all this time even though she act like the owner of them all? or they pity her for being alone?

"The boards are on the meeting room already, they are early as you anticipated." One of the guards reported.

"Good, I don't like sluggish people." one of the guards pressed his identification card to the scanner before letting her enter the elevator.

After a few seconds, she is already on the floor where the meeting will happen and there was a man holding a coat for her, waiting at the opening of the elevator. She gave her bag to him and grabbed her coat, slipping it on as she walked towards the entrance of the meeting room.

She stopped on the door fixing herself, letting the guards line behind her. She looked at her clock—it is already past three in the afternoon, but not time for her to get her siesta or something, she still has some works to do. She looked at the people talking inside the room, signifying the guard in front of her to open the door.

She was welcomed by a long table with three people at both ends. They all stood up and smiled at her, to be frank, they all expected for her not to give a damn on their greetings and that thought did not get to be waste at all.

She walked towards a chair not bothering to even greet them back, "I will be having a one month vacation this coming week. I will entrust the will to handle this company to our loyal assistant Ms. Park, whom I can tell still trying to find someone to replace my partner, and to you chairmans," she announced without having a second thought.

"I made sure that you will be in good hands. Enlighten me that I made the good choice by your reports." she sat on her chair, cue for all of them to sit after her.

Meanwhile, before screwing up the form in his hand, Diego fixed it on the clip and covered it with his almost torn resume. He closed his eyes and did what he never thought he would do, pray.

"Excuse me?" The sound of heels clicking on the floor stopped, and a lady wearing subtle contact lenses stood in front of his gigantic frame, "Are you an applicant?"

If the pen on his hand could talk, it might scold him to let him go, "Yeah."

The girl's face was not even shocked on how this guy could enter or apply for the position. She was just a bit worried when she saw how huge the tattoos on his arm are, but all and all, he's fine, "Give me your form and follow me."

Her voice is authoritative, her small figure did not even matter anymore because her face says it all. He gave the form and proceeded to follow the girl on a room slightly right where the breath taking view of building is, she opened the door letting him enter, before closing it behind her.

Is she the head of security? Why does she act like this? He asked in his head.

"Sit. Let me read your form first." her lips curled on one corner but it disappeared before Diego could appreaciate it. He did what she said and sat on a chair on one end of her table while she sat on the other.

Lisa Park, Assistant CEO.

There are a lot of thoughs running through his mind right now but that crystal plaque displayed in front of him made him want to jump off the building like a fish going back to the sea. He felt like the air in the room got thinner, and the air conditioning is useless on the sweat forming in his slightly hairy chest and arms.

She started checking the form that he filled up earlier and all he did was to stare at the plaque, saying that she's not just an employee hired to procure a random guy like him.

"Diego Castillo." she even pronounced his name right, "Nice meeting you, I can see that you already know me?"

"Oh, yeah yeah. Ms. Lisa, likewise."

He asked himself, when did he start using 'likewise'?

"I'll be frank with you," she smiled, but her eyes are piercing through his soul, "You do not have a lot to offer our company."

"I just need a job." he smiled back, completely regretting it when she raised both of her eyebrows.

"Honest." she looked down at his paper, "You really have the confidence to even tell us that you just got discharged of the city prison. Can you tell me about that?"

The air now thickens, not the good kind but a threatening kind, "A lot of our employees here have a clean record, why do you think we should hire you?" she crossed her arms on her chest together with her legs, slightly showing her hips. She leaned on the chair waiting for him to answer, challenging the guy.

He did not answered her right away, as if his brain froze right there at that seat. "I have been humiliated a lot because of that, and I was not able to explain myself to them. That thing that I did back then, that was an accident."

Her lips pursed as she pulled herself back on the table, "Okay, since you do not have a lot in your resume. I don't have any questions for you, we will just call you in this contact number that you have right here." she smiled at him.

It was fake, he concluded, leaving the glass room of shame after saying an empty thank you. Putting both of his hands on his hair as he walked to the elevator to leave the place. Once he's on the ground, he approached the lady on the desk, he ripped the number over his head and gave it to her.

"Oh, you are quick. How did it go?" she smiled at him getting the number card from his hands, returning his identification card.

"Let's just say you are the best thing that happened to me this day." he smiled at her before grabbing his card, "Thank you."

The girl was not able to talk back to him when he left the building faster than he got there.

Diego found himself at the park again, this time feeling more down of himself. The kids are already gone, there are no sounds inviting him to spend his time in this lonely dull area of the park so he decided to walk home where he could procrastinate about life, again.

He found himself staring on a flashing neon light at the end of the street, which comes with the stinky smell of the garbage underneath it. He walked towards it, tracking the blue broken door where he would stay the night, or his whole life.

Opening the door, he thought of stealing goods at the convenience store behind his house, the one which has a smelly granny as the cashier person, not only to get food for free but to get back on the prison cell where he gets free food without doing anything, and free lodging without paying rentals.

He stepped on the stair where the wallpapers are already falling apart, to the second floor of the building where three rooms are separated with thin chunks of wood; his room is on the end of the hall.

He opened the door using the rotting key on his hand and locked it. Diego can now hear the carnal moans and screams of the horny couple next to his room. His only photo of Paris fell down from the wall when his nieghbor started being adventurous and use the division between them as their bed.

"What the fuck is wrong with you?!" he punched the wall after yelling at them. He can hear the lady curse at him before making the loudest noise she can, "She is faking it man!"

As if no one was complaining, his neighbor continued what they were doing, but the sounds became faint as they moved on the other side of their room.

He slumped at his bed, hearing the creak did not bother him at all. He closed his eyes picturing himself laying at million dollar bills on his bed, a giant chandelier floating on his head and a huge space where he would put a lot of furnitures.

Then his phone rang.
