Chapter 73: Holy Water and Preparation

Having received the address from Lorraine, York returned home but didn't pause in his preparations. Since he was encountering another paranormal event, he planned to prepare as thoroughly as he did the first time he performed an enchantment. The most crucial aspect of this paranormal event was to test the ideas in his mind.

Soon, York found a mini-version Bluetooth speaker, about the size of his palm. He took a deep breath and started the consecration with his mental strength. Considering his experience with the Basheba spirit, if a single point of enchantment on a salt bullet could cause significant damage, then three points of mental strength should suffice.

[Three points of mental strength used] [...] Looking at the Bluetooth speaker now swirling with sacred energy, York silently noted the time on it. He wanted to find out how long the consecration would last, considering the effects of holy water only remained for twenty days.

With the first item ready, York dove into another round of experiments. He took out a bottle of pure water, weighing about 500 grams. He began the consecration process, spreading his mental strength. The calm water in the cup before him didn't show any change, which made York's gaze grow deeper.

If this experiment succeeded, it would indeed make him somewhat divine in a certain sense.

[One point of mental strength used]

Despite using one point of mental strength, the pure water showed no change.

York remained undeterred, continuously using more mental strength. The value on the virtual window dropped to 78 as he used another point.

After using 48 points of mental strength, York began to hesitate. According to his calculations, if there was no change, it might be because the quantity wasn't sufficient or the faith wasn't strong enough. He had purposely chosen 500 grams of pure water to find out how much mental strength was needed to transform it into holy water.

But now, having used 48 points, the water still showed no signs of becoming holy water.

"Continue," York murmured, resolute in his experiment despite feeling mentally tired. It was worth it if the experiment succeeded.

[One point of mental strength used] [One point of mental strength used] [...] Perhaps someone heard his inner voice because when he had used exactly 50 points of mental strength, the pure water suddenly changed dramatically. Like the water consecrated in the church, it became clearer and started glowing with a sacred light.

"It really worked," York whispered to himself in the quiet house.

[1:32]

In the basement.

The sound of bullets colliding followed by a voice: "It's getting a bit tough, consecration is not as easy as enchantment."

York pinched his brow, looking at the golden bullets marked with crosses. He picked up the Ryan revolver and filled it with the holy bullets one by one.

After loading the revolver, York put it down and picked up a silver pistol, removing its magazine. The Desert Eagle, one of the most famous pistols in his previous life, available in 0.357, 0.44, and 0.50 calibers. The one before him was a .50 caliber version, with a gun length of 267mm, a magazine capacity of 7 rounds, an empty weight of 2.50 kg, and using .50 inch Magnum pistol ammunition...

The bigger, the more righteous.

Filling the magazine and inserting it into the Desert Eagle, York looked at the table filled with the Ryan revolver, Desert Eagle, holy hand grenades, and various holy bullets, exhaling softly.

Now with consecration, his preparation had become more flexible and convenient. Salt bullets, specifically for spirits or souls, were on the verge of being obsolete in his mind since the consecrated holy bullets could replace them.

Importantly, holy bullets also carried the inherent damage and penetration of the bullets, no longer limited by materials. Thus, the versatile Ryan revolver and the rapid-fire Desert Eagle could handle his daily needs.

Thinking of tomorrow, York picked up the notebook recording all his experiment results and headed upstairs. As he walked, the notebook fluttered open in the breeze, revealing a corner of his experiment record.

[10 points of mental strength can convert 100 grams of pure water into holy water with sacred properties] [...] [9:13]

At the Pluto Church.

A man in clerical attire was diligently clearing weeds from the ground, muttering to himself, "I must work hard and not let the Father down."

As he cleared a corner of the weeds, a curious voice rang in his ear.

"Who are you? I haven't seen you before. Are you new here?"

Robert paused, having heard this question several times. He looked up to answer.

To his surprise, the voice belonged not to an older person or a middle-aged believer as he expected, but to a young girl in a red hoodie and jeans with a backpack. She seemed underage…

Meanwhile, seemingly noticing his scrutiny, Hailey frowned.

"Huh?"

Feeling her displeasure and confusion, Robert quickly used a familiar response.

"Sorry... I was just surprised because it's my first day on the job."

"Oh, you're just not used to seeing someone as young as me. I get it," Hailey said nonchalantly, glancing at the older worshippers entering and leaving the main building.

"Is Father York here?"

Saying this, she started heading towards the main building.

Seeing this, Robert hurriedly interjected.

"Uh, the Father is out on business today."

Hailey stopped and turned to Robert. "Where did he go?"

Remembering helping York load bags into the car that morning, Robert shrugged.

"I don't know."

...

At that moment, a black Ford Raptor blended into the traffic, heading towards Amityville Town.

Meanwhile, Father York in the car tapped the music icon on the dashboard and played a song.

The lyrics roughly meant: let yourself come undone Everything in the world isn't far away They say they'll give you all that you want And I'll be waiting in the shadow of the sun
