4 Magic and Sisters

"Next!" The voice of the teacher echoes through the crowd of students.

We are now currently standing in line in order to take the "aptitude test".

The globe at the front of the line seems to be a magical device that take our approximate number and display it by showing it on a...window?

Honestly I don't know how to call that but apparently it display itself by somehow floating in mid-air, and it's semi-transparent as well.

That looks really interesting.

Apparently when you place your hand onto it, it shows up numbers about our weapons compatibilities first, then our magic aptitution next.

"Mari Marigold!"

Oh, it's the blonde girl's turn.

So her name is Mari Marigold...

Her aptitution is...

Weapon's compatibilities:

-Sword: 15

-Spear: 2

-Axe: 0

-Knife: 22

-Hand-to-hand combat: 86

Hoh... Not bad...

How about her magic?

Magic's aptitution:

-Fire: 213

-Water: 206

-Wind: 198

So she specializes in magic... Those are some pretty decent numbers.

I can hear the crowd going wild from those numbers.

Oh, let me explain about the magic.

As I heard from our teacher, there are a total of 10 elements in this world, four basic, four greater, which evolve from the basic when you reaches a certain Rank when using them, and two extras:

Fire -> Inferno

Water -> Ocean

Wind -> Cyclone

Earth -> Ground

The extras are: Light, Dark.

I also heard that there are combined elements such as Ice, Magma and such, but she hasn't seen anyone using them, so she's in doubt whether they really exist or not.

The extra catagory here are meant to show if we are able to use any other type of magic than the basic, as the extra elements magic users are hard to come by nowaday, but not impossible.

So, the reason why the crowd was being noisy is because normally, a normal human can only be proficient in one of these four elements, and the average number are usually between 60 to 90, but most of the number she got were around 200 or more, plus the fact that her Light element's number was so high, so I guess it's normal for them to be shocked.

Then it's Dahlia Marigold, her sister's turn:

So the little sister is able to use Dark-type magic.

I can already hear the student whispering about that element, due to the fact that the Dark element is usually considered taboo in many places, plus the fact that her hair is black, as there aren't many people in this world who have black hair, and like the Dark-type magic, it's also considered taboo to have black hair.

I can see the girl's currently shaking, but is quickly pulled away by her sister.

...taboo magic...

After a while, it's Hilda's turn.

I did not expect she would be proficient close combat.

I mean, she used to be the strongest kid in the village, beating up all of the bullies.

I guess it makes sense.

After hers is my turn. I place my hand onto the globe.

Woah, again.

My spear compatibility must be from the fact that I have been using spear to kill monsters for the past five years.

I've tried using sword as well, but they didn't fit my need of killing monsters.

Excuse me, what?!

Ok, the crowd is definitely going wild now, and so am I right now.

I mean, all of my basic elements are higher than 500!

Heal?

A new type of magic? And why is it even 9999?

While I'm wondering about that, I notice the last one.

The words seem to be scrambled all over, so I can't make out what that is.

Putting that aside, I go to a bench nearby and sit down, ignoring all of the eyes focusing on me.

I'm feeling tired already.

When she saw him, the boy whose hair was white and had a ponytail, she got a familiar feeling from him. It was similiar to "that person", the one who she used to love, and the one who promised to be with her forever. But he couldn't keep his promise, disappearing after the chaos and was thought to be killed.

But she didn't believe that. Her instinct told her that he's still alive, out there somewhere, waiting for her.

And then she saw that boy. When their eyes met, she reflexively turned her head away.

His eyes were crimson like his, but instead of filling with happiness, it was filled with a deep sadness of ones who had committed a sin.

"It couldn't be him", she thought.

Because "that person"'s hair's color and his was not the same.

She was pleased when she saw her aptitude test.

She aimed to become number one, so she could punish those who dare look down on her sister.

When she saw her sister's, she was happy.

But then she heard people started whispering about her hair color and her speciality in Dark-type magic.

It was the same as before.

She was the one who got all the good attention, while her sister got all the bad.

But she won't let it happen again.

This time, she will make sure she and her sister will both be on top together.

But then her dream was shattered. By that one boy she met.

His numbers were much higher than her, and he somehow even has an Element no one had ever heard of.

Like, Heal? Why was that even an Element?

In her entire life, she had been praised as a smart child, as the one who would stand above all. But there was only one person who had been able to surpass her.

"Him". Her childhood friend and the person who had captured her heart.

He was a true prodigy, quickly mastering both magic and swordsmanship.

But then, that night happened, and she never saw him again.

Anger started to swell in her.

She couldn't accept this. How could a random person like him be able to surpass her in magic?

"He" has once called her magic beautiful, and she won't let anyone trample on it.

She worked harder than anyone else to be able to come out on top, to be able to one day reach him.

That's why she can't accept this.

So she will fight him, she will defeat him and unveil the unfairness the world has put on her and her sister.
