As soon as Rory had let his gaze travel up and down Bond’s body in Northman’s office, Bond’s reaction woke him up to the reality that he didn’t remember him. Which also explained his frowning response at the market. Then it had been like he couldn’t get away fast enough. Today he didn’t remember Rory when he’d mentioned Delta or heard his soft Irish brogue.

It was deflating, but maybe not surprising. They’d met some years back on a harrowing ride in the CH-47D Chinook helicopter Rory was piloting. His helo had carried a full cargo of soldiers, evacuating them from outside Kabul Province while dodging enemy fire…
