9 Let's Eat Cake!

Upon returning to reality Caelum faced a new notification and the light from the outside that was starting to dim.

[Task: Convince Miss Vaile to Stay out Longer has been added to your task list, new tasks will be added based on your desires. ]

He was currently laying down, and sitting next to his now awake body was Miss Vaile. Despite her usually aloof expression she seemed to be annoyed.

He knew what to do, he had to let her know that he was now awake. He desired it and the task would reward him for the successful completion of the task.

"Hello Miss Vaile, how are your afternoon? good, I hope."

Vaile was now facing him, no longer looking at the book.

"I see you have woken up, that's good. We should head back, I wouldn't have opposed to the idea of staying out had you not slept for over two hours."

"Uh, I slept that long, I must've been exhausted." He slept that long, shit, how was he going to reasonably come up with an explanation for this. He wanted that experience, he also wondered how much experience that he would receive if he completed the task like it asked.

"That you must have, now let's not waste time." Vaile motioned for him to get a move on.

She then helped him get up and reach the ground, the distance while not long from the bench to the ground was not far for a young child that had just reached 1 years old today was not par for the course whose bones were still weak.

Before facing the direction of who knows where Caelum tried to stand his ground on the dirt.

"There is still time left in the day for just another hour out. I want to check out a few more places and get some food."

Vaile's stomach grumbling, "I suppose that we can get a bite of food before we return. After that, we must return we have dallied too long."

"It's not my fault we have to go back. Mostly." In an attempt to emphasize that point Vaile said mostly louder than the rest of the sentence.

"Who would have known that I would have fallen unconscious after the spirit circuitry examination?" To put back exploration of the city back on the agenda Caelum attempted to place the blame elsewhere.

"Neither I or you did young one, now let's grab some food and then settle in for the night."

"Please, not just food I will learn more diligently just two, or so more places after we get food."

"If we hurry, now let's go before the sun makes you faint, again."

"Heh heh. Sorry about that again miss Vaile. Then let's go!"

A notification appeared in front of him - the one that he asked Vaile to stay out longer for. Then another and then it kept on going.

[Task: Stay Out Longer, has been completed.]

[For Completing the task you have been rewarded with 30 experience.]

[You have acquired enough experience to level up from Level 1 to Level 3. You have gained 10 Stat Points! PS: you have 5 Unspent statpoints that you received as a level 1 on top of those.]

[New Task: Eat Something has been added to your task list.]

[New Task: Discover your build has been added to your task list.]

[New Task: Reach Level 5 Before Returning Home has been added to your task list.]

Looking around after all the notifications had faded away Caelum took notice of the thin book that was carried in one of her hands.

"And Miss Vaile what is that you have in your hand?" It looked to be of a manual, she would not have left him alone all by himself so she must have gotten it from the Cultivation Store run by the Old Man.

The Old man was quite joyous, was it for him?

No, while the old man was happy what reason would there be to gift him something for free. People in the stories often gave those who they were interested in creating a closer bond with gifts, this could be one of those situations.

"This," Vaile looked down towards the same book, the book that resided within one of her hands and continued on speaking "It is nothing you have to worry yourself over. Just think about what you would want."

"What's good?" Caelum said, he did not know what was good it was something you learn through experience and as a 1-year-old child he was not knowledgeable about such things. The only things that he has eaten up to this point, more accurately, drank was milk.

"Your teeth are still growing in so something soft. Cake?" Vaile asked, her gaze long since shifted back towards me.

"Cake sounds great, let's get cake!" Caelum would not say no to cake. Who in the fuck would say no to cake?

It was more expensive than other mundane meals, mundane was fine mundane was cheap. It filled the belly, that was the purpose of mundane meals, cake was a luxury food to be enjoyed, and would be expensive as a golden goose to fill the stomach on it.

We went around the city got the cake that was handed out on cakes it was 3 silvers and sat on one of the benches that were situated outside of the store that sold the cake and began to dig in.

This made him wonder how much Miss Vaile had with her, cake was not something people usually could afford. She was a matron, maybe the donation money was quite the sight to see.

Dropping the idea, finishing the consumption of the delicious and soft cake he began to think. What should be worked towards with his stats? Power was good, scratch that it was fucking amazing.

He could speed through the battlefield with extreme flexibility and agility by killing his foes and targets before they could even see him coming.

In Draconic Heavenly World he was like a god of the battlefield mowing down anyone that even looked at him funny. It was weird, it was a phone game and it gave Caelum such a sense of fulfillment when he played.

Was that what he wanted, no he wanted his enemies to remember him. That's how you created rivals, he would surely have plenty in the future.

He would decide before he left so he could complete the task. All that Caelum knew was that he desired to take to the frontlines rather than stay behind and be support, where was the glory in being support?

Healing? No.

Mages? Meh.

Archers? Still a no.

Here, he could be the same unbeatable player. He just required time to make a quality plan.

He would spend it on becoming useful, having value made you five steps above those who had none.

Caelum following becoming valuable would aim to become indispensable then they would do everything they can to keep him.

Who in the world could keep a protagonist from growing, not some scruffy old men, or ancient evils? Offering him something he would be able to buy in the future showed that they would hold no value.

They held an amount of power that shouldn't be underestimated right now.

That was right now, in the future Caelum would take what he wants, with power he could have it all. With the system, all of that and more... Would become his and his alone.

At this moment of time, he would make Vaile see the path that he would walk on. One that left any other genius's coughing blood.

He had just the idea too, to point out their schemes. Why did he need the blindfold in the first place?

What were they hiding?

Having a system meant that he would not just ponder hypothesizing different scenarios no, he would get an answer.
