20 A Frog's Climb 5

The tension in the air could practically be felt as the two kids with rare intellects glared at each other. Waiting for when the other would say something that would within seconds start a fist fight.

And while he did dislike Matt, he would rather kill someone who deserved his punches that he pulled. Someone who said a few distasteful words was a distance not negligible from being worth it despite the consequences if he did take action.

"I do admit that I am partly at fault, my initial impressions were less than good with how I treated your friends. That's why I am here to rectify this situation." Caelum said unsure of what he should be saying, he could be expelled if he caused trouble if he failed to rein in his anger.

"What will make me believe that? You seem to think making friends can happen at the snap of your fingers." Matt snapped.

Caelum could not believe the words he was hearing from Matts' mouth. Would he be able to complete this task or not? He wanted to knock Matts teeth in. He would be expelled, that would not be the worst.

No, he could not do that. If he got expelled he would have to get a job... Screw getting a job!

Fine, he would try to not forcefully shut the justice seekers mouth.

Caelum said the first thing that came to mind. "Friends believe each other."

He really had never put the orphans in his eyes. He did not plan on helping them, and he did not plan on telling them why he was gaining strength but he could maybe sometime make their life easier.

"You can't just become friends by adding the word friend when speaking to whoever you want to befriend. You have to earn the right to call me a friend, I have to earn yours. We are at ends because we are not friends. We do not help each other, make an earnest attempt at apologizing. Maybe then I could consider you less of an asshole!"

"Right now, we are strangers." Matts brown eyes frosted over with irritation and hate.

The realization that they were strangers, they were both orphans but that is like saying anyone that breathed you lead the same life as. Everyone that breathed lead a different life and the start of every bond required something different. A half-assed apology would not cut it.

Caelum wanted to have a chance at completing the task to remain, his ambition would not be ending here in this stupid orphanage.

"We... are strangers. I know your name, yet you do not know mine." Caelum said.

"Normal is really subjective to everyone, I just do not want to see you insult other people. Justice would see to it that you never will again, I am lenient." Matt reluctantly said.

"Sorry, one of these days I can do like you are asking me to and apologize earnestly." Would he, no. He would eventually be on the same level as an army himself and people that lusted after justice were not the best choices for members of his own elite army - they would only hold him back.

He needed a talented general, someone to lead at least.

"Fine, and by the way, I should know my perhaps-future friend's name, scum. "

"The name is... I will tell you when you accept my apology." He stated, starting to turn away from Matt.

"Then villain, have a shitty day, do avoid creating any trouble for my friends, justice will put you down if you do."

"I promise until they get in my way I won't. Justice is not omnipresent or omnipotent. It comes and goes and for you, it will arrive soon, for those who deserve it they will wait as because you skipped to the front of the line." Caelums words had a harshness to it that caused Matt to wince ever so slightly.

"Those words, do not try anything or else. I am going to get back to helping my friends, and you can get back to whatever you training freak." Matt noted reorganizing the books that were currently on the table.

"See you later Matt. Enjoy your youth while you are able." Caelum backed away from the table doing his best to repress his anger.

"Later you damn scourge." Matt beckoned the same three orphans back and they returned to what they were doing. The orphans on their return were reluctant at first hearing the entire debacle from beginning to end.

Caelum then walked away from the table and returned to his personal abode, his corner quickly losing himself in his thoughts. He had to recruit someone. What he had just gone through illustrated to Caelum why it was called a task, he needed results and spending time on repairing useless bonds had no use to him and did not contribute to his ambition.

He might as well sneak out beat the shit out of someone to subdue the... Or he could with how nicely he was treated by the old man to ask him a favor and have him join his cause. Would the old man do it just to get on his good side?

Eh, the old man would likely ask for a favor in return and he did not want to have his potential be bargained for such a favor. He would not waste away in a sect, he would experience the world - making a sect could happen, but joining a pre-established sect where was the excitement in that?

He had his system and it's shop - he just needed money to get what was required to finance a sect.

Caelum only feared that he would lose his life before he bloomed into an undefeatable frog on land.

With his talent at cultivation, he could stand on equal footing with other top class geniuses. He no doubt was lacking in the other areas in regards to his qualifications to stand on equal footing with geniuses in other areas. Many kings can not become fishermen at the risk of their reputation sinking.

His magic aptitude and martial potential were both unknown.

Caelum would not be able to guarantee that he would be able to be as talented as he was with qi in the other areas that were unknown to him at this time.

Deciding to use one of his coupons in the system shop he decided on a course of action. Caelum would purchase a disguise. He would not purchase anything extravagant, he only required something that would get the job done.

If he had the appraisal ability finding someone that was currently weak but could become much stronger with little to no intervention on his part would be for the best.

Caelum could not anticipate when he would receive another system feature unlock if it was soon he could become stronger faster. If it was later while he could still become stronger it would most likely be after the tournament.

With his current strength value for his age he would be extremely hard-pressed to find an equal in that aspect, for his other aspects it wouldn't as impossible and that would be worrisome.

When night fell he would hunt to find himself a lackey. He had some emotions to let loose, being screamed at without being able to refute Matts words pissed Caelum the fuck off!

It was a horrible feeling to be told off like he was, he was far stronger than Matt. A three-year-old for fuck's sake! Words no matter how powerful the person you said them to would leave a lasting expression. He was certainly feeling the aftereffects.

Matt could hold grudges that was for damn sure.

He could in turn cast judgment on Matt, that is if he did anything against Caelum. Getting a few lackeys before he was four years old would be good enough to take his mind off the bullshit that Matt could easily spout if you even sneezed in the wrong direction. Hell would freeze over if you instead sneezed on his friends.

Good thing, with how he was treated he no longer had any intention of becoming his friend and his friends would serve no use they unlike Matt had no genius of there own (That he was aware of.)

Justice would be coming, just not for him.

It was coming for Matt... If Matt partook in the tournament that would make it even better when he dealt it out.

He needed to have a few cards in his deck before then, having lackeys was one of the things he required.

Caelum relaxed, browsing through the system store preparing for the excursion that would happen later that night - he would be ready.
