16 A Frog's Climb 1

When Caelum finally found his limits in the first week of his training he broke them. Still, it still marked the task as complete and he received the reward that threw him the rest of the way to level 6. His new task was to Outrun the fastest Orphan if it was like any of his other stats he had a higher chance of completing it on the spot so he had to wait to complete the task as his agility was proving to be slightly detrimental to his growth.

When he was not training, if he completed his daily exercises early he explored the system. During the time that he explored in the system store, he found a useful item that he purchased a few of - it was called Enrichment Serum.

It improved the one's foundations, strengthened muscle fibers, organs and spirit circuitry. It was 20 Silver per serum and was it well spent.

When he drank the serum it did in fact hurt like a punch to the face (what he imagined one would feel like.) However, when he saw the results he would have paid a higher price for the same effect.

His three tasks were at that period of time: Be Faster than the Fastest Orphan, Recruit People to Your Cause and Find Another Way to Earn Experience.

Caelum decided that when he was a few years older he would try one of his hypothesis, that he needed to kill something to earn experience. Of course, killing someone was out of the question if it was an animal he would consider it.

His limits were not where he wanted them to be so he kept pushing on. As time passed his agility stat increased, the stretching that he was doing had to be taking some sort of effect on his stats that and he was growing taller, meaning that he could make more ground faster.

He did not really notice, but the other orphans daydreamed less and studied more. He did not give much attention to the orphans besides that observation as he had things to accomplish and daydreaming like how they use to was not how it was done.

When he thought he could no longer push through after a month he risked it and broke his new limits.

His limits were always rising, always breaking, always being shattered they were brief and they never stayed in place for long.

The more time that passed the less he used his status. He did purchase that treadmill, he had to do laps across the room at first, it was fucking tedious. When Caelum first purchased the treadmill they wondered where in the living hell he got such a thing, he had Vaile warn the other orphans to not go near his things otherwise he would without warning make their curiosity go down by 20 pegs that only pain could inflict.

Caelum did not desire to hurt them and luckily they listened to the Vaile's warning.

At the end of the first year of training he completed the task that was to Be Faster than the Fastest Orphan, he did it by a large margin. It would seem that his rate of growth for the stats the least developed increased by a noticeable amount.

It put him one-third of the way towards level 7.

Following the completion of Outrun the Fastest Orphan his new task that replaced his prior one was called Increase Any Stat Reaches 100 which was self-explanatory. He worked hard and he completed it in the last month of the first year. He increased the intensity of his training and accomplished it before the first year of three of consecutive training ended.

The task once that was done was Increase your Prestige Rank he would be holding off on completing that for a bit until he had enough fame to do so.

His stats were at that time:

[ Strength: 14 > 107 ]

[ Constitution: 11 > 28 ]

[ Agility: 1 > 16 ]

[ Perception: 2 > 11 ]

[ Intelligence: 9 > 10 ]

[ Charm: 14 > 16 ]

[ Luck: 7]

[ Regality: 1 ]

Once that task was completed he was rewarded with a levels worth of experience which made him reach level 8.

Caelum decided that this was the year that he would complete one of his tasks Find Another Way to Earn Experience.

On the first day of training in the second year of training strenuously he ended a life.

As to get used to the feeling, and not wanting to jump the horse right away he killed something that wouldn't weigh unbearably so on his conscious. He killed a rabbit.

His hesitation grounded him and his morals. He was not heartless, he had an agenda and he would even kill to accomplish it. He would not seek out others to kill, he would only seek the death of those who sought his own life.

Since he was watched like a hawk by his caretakers he had to take action because this task was getting in the way of him becoming stronger once the task was done he could be able to focus on better things.

He asked the butcher in town if he could watch and maybe try - thinking that it was alright just to be extremely careful as to not cut off one of your own fingers he also watched me like a hawk briefly. He did demonstrate how to first so Caelum did not waste perfectly good meat.

He was quite a guy, he was nice and seemed happy that Caelum showed an interest in butchering. He thanked the man, and told the man simple compliments, "I admire your craft, thanks for your hard work, that's how you butcher a rabbit - ah!" And that Caelum could return if he wanted to learn more, it might do for a part-time job, but who wants to work? If he did get a job it would need to pay ten times more for him to even consider the matter.

If he was going to waste time doing shit if it did not increase his strength or did not give him more ways in which he would be able to he would not get a job. And getting a job was for the future, right now he could focus on completing tasks rather than clocking in and out every day.

During the rest of the second year of training, he focused less on agility no longer have to complete the task he refocused his efforts on his intelligence stat. He spent a few hours every day on reading the books that Miss Vaile supplied him with. She even delivered to him a table and chair to make easier his reading efforts. This made him more thankful for her presence and worked harder to showcase his talents.

A genius can only showcase his talents if he puts in the work and man was he putting it in, he wanted to give up many times but his ambition would not allow him to.

His journey had only just begun, if he stayed in the well he would drown.
