2 Prologue

Spring of 1502

A 11-year-old small curly haired girl was following her Mama and Papa towards the Marigold the ship that she was going to spend the next 2 months of her life on. She saw a member of the crew; he was loading huge crates onto the dock of the ship. I cannot wait to see my grandparents in Iceland! She thought excitedly. She skipped to catch up with her mother a beautiful redhead wearing a light blue silk dress and a crystal necklace, she was talking to the captain by the boardwalk. "So, we will be sleeping with the rest of the passengers?" her mother said with disgust. What is wrong with that "I'm sorry ma'am but this is all we can do." Replied the captain. The little girl got bored with the conversation and moved on to what her father was doing. Her father a curly haired gentleman was admiring the boat. "You know Pumpkin, (his little nickname for her) this is a very remarkable boat. You see the size of the masts alone; the sails are twice the size long ways and there's six of them!" Wow she gaped in awe. "Speechless, I know the feeling." He smiled and said. Just then a large fellow walked up and blocked the view, "Alright you lot get a move on were leaving soon and Captain' doesn't want to leave anyone behind." The man walked soon after. "Alright pumpkin lets go" The girls father swooped her up onto his shoulders and their made way for the boat.

The days turned into weeks. When they were about 2030 leagues off the coast of Norway, the little girl sat on the bed she shared with her parents and stared at the rain pelting the small round window in their room. She heard hail pieces ticking as they hit the bow of the ship as they approached the eye of the storm. I knew it was going to rain soon, but not this bad! It was the truth. All the passengers had heard the crew members talk about the upcoming storm. A huge wave slapped the glass and she jumped backwards in alarm. Bored of watching the water around the window she strolled up to the stairs to the main deck, she froze as she realized that her father and a crew member were talking. "This is the part of the grounds of the Leviathan. Is my family safe?" asked her father. "Well, I don't believe in superstitions." The sailor replied. Her Father shocked said in alarm, "But it's in the book of Job!" "There hasn't been a sighting in my lifetime, so why should I be worried?" replied the sailor. The thunder rumbled overhead.

The Leviathan? Who is that? The little girl thought. Her burnt orange hair whipped across her face obscuring her vision. As she regained her sight, she saw huge spikes rise out of the thrashing waves on the starboard side of the ship. Rain pattered against the deck as she scrambled to get a better view. As she reached the railing a huge serpent with a head like a hammerhead with rows upon rows of teeth rose out of the water. "The Leviathan!" the sailor screamed. Her father's eyes fell on her small figure in the shadow of the great sea dragon. "GO!" screamed her father, as he ran towards her. The Leviathan picked up her father in his desperate attempt to get his daughter off the boat into a dingy to save her life. The Leviathan bit into her father and blood splattered across the deck of the ship. She ran to the dingy, but the Leviathan stopped her in her tracks. She slipped and hit her head on the rail of the ship causing her to be temporarily disabled. As the sea dragon finished devouring another passenger it eyed the little girl. The Leviathan roared like thunder. BAM. The Leviathan smashed the boat in two with its huge tail. It turned to face the little girl. "NO!" her mother screamed as she appeared just in time to see the sea serpent leaning over her. As the women raced toward the heel of her shoe broke in the wood and she smashed into the wooden planks. The Leviathan ate the girl's mother in one fell swoop. "Mama!" the girl cried as she regained her senses. She wanted to die, but she needed to live and reach her grandparents. Tears of determination filled her eyes and she reached the dingy just in time as it dropped into the water and escaped the sinking ship. And the serpent disappeared into the Atlantic Ocean.
