1 New World, New Dream

"To think that after all this time, all the effort I spent to help the Tirion government, they would still turn on me like this!" A sweaty man in a brown lab coat muttered under his breath as he ran across a stuffy hallway.

"You should have expected this, Micheal. After all, we can't risk such a humongous secret like this being revealed to the general populace, right?" A security guard entered the hallway just as Micheal was about to leave. He was wielding a laser scope rifle that had been unlocked, and started rattling away at Micheal.

Micheal quickly ducked down and avoided the lethal bullets. The robotic chip implanted in the security guard's brain would allow him to accurately shoot the vulnerable parts of Micheal's body. However, he had modified his chip to be untraceable and turn into cybernetic upgrades to his body, so he was able to have faster reflexes, after he had learned that the government was going to silence him.

He scurried down the steps on his four limbs at an a rapid pace. The security guard charged at the stairs in an attempt to pin Micheal down with just his body weight. The guard jumped a large arc using his powerful robotic legs. As they were in a very constrictive space, the guard managed to pin Micheal down with a devastating "Crunch!" as he landed on Micheal's spine.

"Arghhhh!" Micheal let out a scream of agony as his back broke from the impact of the fall. Crimson red blood burst out of his wound as white, bony shards poked out from his back. Micheal could not feel his legs any longer as the connection to his brain was instantly severed.

"Micheal Yogg. You should have surrendered to avoid such a miserable fate. At least you could have died from the lethal poison painlessly. Now, you will just be another nameless monster among the horde." The guard cracked out a large grin as he stomped Micheal's head ruthlessly with his boot. He had been protecting these stuck-up scientists since the project had started. They kept treating him with contempt, acting as if he was a lesser being. It felt so good to crush their skulls whenever he hunted them down.

However, as he raised his boot for another stomp, an inaudible sound came out of Micheal's mouth.

"What? Are you begging me for mercy?" The guard taunted Micheal upon seeing that he had spoke.

"Are you done yet?" Micheal spoke as his hand wrapped around the guard's boot. The robotic chip suddenly activated and powered Micheal's hand as he made a pulling motion.

"Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! What the hell!" The guard kept swearing without restraint as a bloody stump appeared where his robotic leg was last at. How did that fucking wimpy scientist pull out his one-of-a-kind titanium leg? This did not make s—

The guard's thought process was cut short by his head cracking open with a squelch. Gray matter slowly leaked out of his skull as he slumped to the floor with a thud. The titanium leg gave out a small "ting" sound as it met the floor, cushioned by the dead security guard's body.

After throwing the leg at the security guard, Micheal felt a sense of relief. He had successfully managed to buy some more time for himself. Once he got to the main command centre and absorbed the information there, he would be too valuable to the Tirion government to be deposed of.

He used the robotic chip and turned it into an artificial spine in his body. A grunt was let out, as the feeling of pain came from his legs. He quickly took out a bottle of painkillers and popped a few pills, before greedily drinking from the security guard's bottle and moving on.

As he moved deeper into the heart of the underground project facility, a deep fear gripped his heart. The fear of death. He was not willing to die yet, not when he was beginning to obtain and discover the unknown in this world. As the sound of footsteps got closer and closer, Micheal knew that he had to make one final push.

He channeled 99% of the robotic chip's power to power his legs and forced himself to run beyond his limits at the command center. He could feel every part of his body hurting and creaking as he pushed his legs to travel at least 360km/h.

Soon, he had reached his destination. However, he could not use the chip to replace his spine, as that required a lot more power than what the chip had at the current moment. Not only that, he was leaking blood from the grisly open wound on his back, and the wound was slowly getting infected by microorganisms.

However, it did not matter at all, since if he became a valuable asset to the Tirion government, all of this would be fixed in a moment. As Micheal crawled towards the main system that contained all the information, the footsteps had already turned into rumbling sounds.

"Search out! He should be around here somewhere. Remember to be cautious. You don't want to be crushed in the head, don't you?" A muffled voice was heard by Micheal, followed by the sound of silence. Micheal became even more fervent in his efforts to reach for the machine, in the corner of the command centre, knowing that he would be discovered any moment.

After a few agonising minutes, Micheal managed to reach the machine, and plunged his arm inside the cold interior. The machine started to beep repeatedly as the robotic chip received a transfer of information from the machine.

"There! Quick, in in in in!" The security guards looking for him was alerted by the beeping sound and urged each other to go in quick. They pointed their guns at Micheal, who only laughed as he received the information.

"Now that I have the relevant information, you can't kill me now, can you? Only I now have your precious amalgamation information." Micheal continued to laugh like a maniac as he received the information. To think that he, a genius at birth who could talk and read at the age of one, would be reduced to such a pathetic state. Not only that, he did not even know the details of the project he was working on, like a dummy.

The guards, upon hearing what Micheal said, quickly relayed the information to their superior that Micheal had gotten the amalgamation project's information.

As the guards heard their superior's replies, they started to laugh at Micheal. Micheal was puzzled about why they were laughing. He already had the important information at hand. They should be begging for mercy and helping him up instead.

"Nice bluff you tried to pull there. You know that the amalgamation data you have is just standard information, right?" As Micheal heard this, a look of horror appeared on his face, as the guards pulled down on the triggers and bullets started to assault his already battered body.

As Micheal felt new bursts of pain exploding in his body, less than a minute later, he felt nothing anymore. There was no more pain, only serenity. Then, a gentle warmth slowly permeated him.

The comfort soon spread all over his body, making him feel happiness for once. He had only experienced pain and suffering throughout his whole life, and... Was he not supposed to be dead? Why did he still have his memories?

Why were there memories of a little girl in my head too, and the life... of a teenage farmer from my perspective? There can't be the case, I have always been nurtured by the Tirion government, why would I be subjected to such a plebeian lifestyle?

Micheal opened his eyes and sat up straight all of a sudden. Was it a bad dream? Was anything even real at all? He could not distinguish between what was real and what was false, but the grass and the glaring wolf that was in front of him was real.
