Teamwork 4

On this dark and dreary day in Gotham, for the first time in memory, the police of Gotham moved out in force. They hit all the known locations for the Mob's bosses, taking no heed to the threats of Syndicate protection. Everyone with a warrant was picked up and taken to the courthouse for a quick trial by a Judge and prosecutor who was just plain tired of living in fear.

The worst were sentenced to death in the next room and the rest were sent to prison. Thomas Wayne was giving a speech to his most trusted men.

"Without the backing of the Syndicate, the Mobs are falling like cheap suits. This 'Devilbat' is true to his word. It's down to us now. This is our chance to put the power back where it belongs."

Wayne lifted his shotgun and put it on his shoulder, "Let's take our city back! Lock and Load!"

Everyone ran to their vehicles and got ready to follow their boss into hell if need be.

-(Scene Shift)-

Logan and Devilbat looked down from the roof of a building near the City Hall, the last refuge of the crooks in this town. Owlman's main front guy, Jim Gordon was holed up there and it was his and Matt's job to make them easy pickings for the Commissioner.

Logan looked thoughtfully at the rather large water fountain just inside the gated City Hall. Then he looked at the cloud-covered sky, that had no chance of letting even the smallest ray of sun through.

"Did you know that Beast Boy can turn himself into a swarm of insects? Logically it makes no sense, but then again it doesn't make much sense that we both can change shape at all."

Logan had a wicked smile on his face, "I am going to change shape and if you would drop me into that water fountain as you swing to the roof, I would greatly appreciate it. After you drop me, give me 10 minutes before you enter the building." Logan then changed his shape and Devilbat picked him up and shot a line so he could swing over.

Matt was a little mystified at how Logan thought such a small creature would be of any help, but he really didn't think it would make much difference. When he got close enough, he threw the little green and yellow thing towards the water. The only remarkable features of the creature Logan had turned into were the big ears, sharp-looking teeth, and weirdly a single strip of hair on its head like a Mohawk. If Matt could see color, he would also see that the Mohawk was white.

With his heightened hearing he heard the Logan creature growl, "Owlman's goons KA KA!" Just before it hit the water.

 -(Insert Pic Here)-

The next few minutes were spent knocking out the guards that were on the roof and tying them up as he went. When he had finished with that, he looked down at the fountain only to see hundreds and hundreds of the little creatures that Logan had turned into rushing into the building through the doors and some even jumped into the buildings through the windows.

They all looked slightly different but there was no doubt that they were the same creature as Logan. They all laughed in little shrill voices, but he could only make out a word or two. Then the screaming started in the City Hall building.

Throughout the whole building, there were hundreds of little green Gremlins running around and investigating everything that caught their eye. When 5 of the gremlins burst through a door, they heard a loud bang and saw one of their fellows knocked back out of the room. After being shot, the little gremlin was pushed back against the wall and felt his chest. A small piece of lead was mushroomed there and he picked it off his skin and looked wonderingly at it.

His four fellows started laughing at him being knocked down, but then another loud bang was heard, and another gremlin was ejected from the room. The three remaining in the room looked at where the noise came from and saw a man pointing an object at them. They quickly ran to the man to inspect this object, but it made noise again as the two Gremlins that were knocked out of the room came back in holding a mushroomed bullet.

The latest noise didn't push anyone outside, but the curious buggers wanted to see this object up close. The guy in the room was backed into a corner and nearly pissing his pants at these scary-looking creatures that were after him. His revolver only held 3 more shots and the first two he hit were coming back into the room. In his panic, he fired two more shots that only managed to hit his desk and then he felt his feet pulled out from under him.

When he hit the ground, he lost his grip on his gun, and it slid over to the first Gremlin that had been shot. It curiously picked it up and started to inspect it. One of the others came over and tried to take it away so it could look it over but when he pulled on it, the gun went off and knocked him back from the first Gremlin who started to laugh hilariously.

Figuring it out, the Gremlin pointed the barrel at the human on the ground who was wide-eyed in fear. The Gremlin pulled the trigger only to hear a small click, {What happened to the big bang?} it thought to itself. He pulled the trigger again, but it was the same thing, no big bang. Losing interest, he threw the gun at the window and was impressed by the loud crashing noise.

He looked at his four friends and motioned with his hands his idea, all five Gremlins started laughing as they grabbed the human and threw him out the window. Leaving the room, because it wasn't fun anymore the group went to the hallway only to be sprayed with a white cloud by a packmate that held a large red metal tube. It laughed at them and ran off to spray more Gremlin's.

The lights started to flicker in the hallway when a Gremlin found the light switch and took enjoyment in leaving his pack in wonder at how the lights were going on and off. It decided it wanted to keep the switch and tried pulling it off the wall. When it finally pried it off the wall it had two string thingies holding it, so it tried to bite them off his prize and promptly electrocuted itself until the breaker kicked out and the Gremlin was left smoking on the ground in pain. All the Gremlins that saw this laughed uproariously.

The now dark hallway was filled with little Gremlins and much to their surprise, the wall at the end of the hallway suddenly opened and revealed light in a small room. Three humans saw the crowd of Gremlins and quickly tried closing the elevator doors but a couple of Gremlins set off the door sensor so the doors wouldn't close.

The bravest of the trio in the elevator rushed out, knowing that the exit was close by. He figured he was strong enough to bulldoze his way out and the other two followed him. The Gremlins didn't care because they were enamored by the light in the elevator.

Logan walked into the first floor and as soon as the Gremlins saw him, they all greeted him. Logan walked to the elevator and showed them how to use it. In his role as the boss, he spoke to them. "No Hurt Fleshy."

All the Gremlins nodded their heads in acknowledgment, and he watched as many left the elevator to cause mayhem while Logan went to the top floor to meet up with Devilbat.

Shifting back to his normal human form, Logan stepped out of the elevator on the top floor and saw Devilbat storming down the hallway with about 20 Gremlins following him. Every time one tried to reach for his belt or cape, they got a smack or a soft kick.

Logan shooed them away and they ran away to find something else to catch their interest.

 "Interesting creatures."

"Yeah, they are called Gremlins. But don't worry they won't last long, less than an hour. They are like the clothes I make; I can remove them, and they will just crumble away unless I provide more energy."

"We should head back to the roof, Owlman will most likely make his move when Wayne goes to arrest Gordon. I am a bit surprised he hasn't struck already."

Logan nodded his head, "My guys will not harm the humans unless in self-defense, but this building will need some major repairs."

As Logan and Devilbat moved back towards the roof entrance they watched a Gremlin stumble past them with a bottle of Brothers Bond Bourbon in its hand. It lifted the bottle to take another drink but it fell backward and the bottle got stuck in its mouth, the contents just drained down its throat.

"Good thing it won't live long enough to feel that hangover."
