46 The Cave (3)

As they ran, they could see and hear other people frantically running and screaming. It showed that his smashing of the etching stone had freed them all from the life draining rooms.

Raikou and Ghost could feel the collapsing of the cave's intensity increasing, so they both activated their movement techniques and ran. Of course, Raikou controlled his abit, as he would leave Ghost in the dust with his cloud steps.

The end of the cave was in sight and they slid through the exit and smacked into a barricade the royal academy had set up.

Raikou looked back to see multitudes of people being crushed in the cave. Only 50 or so people made it out, and the majority of them were rank 4 cultivators.

They all looked at Raikou with extreme rage, "You! You must've done this. No one else went in that deep."

Half the people that came out pointed their weapons at him and were about to attack.

Raikou laughed and unsheathed Bishouken. "If you want a fight, come! However, if it wasn't for me, all of you would have died. The cave started collapsing after I broke the core of the formation, which was holding you captives in those rooms."

They all went silent after hearing this. One man stepped out with eyes filled with greed. "If you were the only one to go that far in, then you must have obtained all the treasures. Give them to us!"

"Kiss my ass. I saved your lives and this is how you repay your daddy?"

The man rushed forward, but his advance was halted by his head flying off his body.

Raikou wiped the blood of his sword and asked, "Who's next? I saved him and that's how he repaid me. If anyone wants to get their asses kicked, please attack me!"

No one else moved from their spots. They were all filled with shame, fear or guilt for their thoughts towards attacking him.

At that moment, a rank 5 warrior from the academy approached. "I heard the whole conversation. If you were the only one that went all the way in, then you must have obtained the majority of the treasures. Please hand over 60% of what you have gained." He put his hand out signalling for Raikou to hand over his spatial ring.

"Fuck! My plan was to slip out of the cave quietly using the cloak. The cave collapsing made me forget all about it." Raikou was truly unwilling to give away the gold.

They would definitely be suspicious of only gold being found. If they never found anything of worth in the ring, which doesn't even have anything in it, then they would try searching his body.

"I'm sorry, but I didn't obtain anything. The cave began collapsing once I reached the core and I had to escape quickly." After some thought, this was the only excuse Raikou could come up with.

With some inspection, Raikou discovered his name to be Bibliotheque and he was a rank 5 2nd level warrior.

Bibliotheque looked at Raikou and replied, "Just hand over what you have in the ring." He put this hand out again.

Raikou took the ring off Ghost's paw and passed it to him.

The man was in the process of checking the ring when Raikou used cloud steps and ran as quick as he could. His base speed was 50 miles per hour and at max speed he could reach speeds of over 160 miles per hour. Using cloud steps his speed exceeded that and he zoomed away.

(A/N: Someone pointed out that I made the cultivators too slow. The average speed of a 10 agility stat is now 8mph. 100 agility is 80 and 200 is 160. Keep pointing out my mistakes!)

Bibliotheque chased after him, but Raikou had a head start. If they began running at the same time, Raikou would probably only have a slight edge on him, as he was not a brute warrior like the brothers from the adventurer mission.

Once Raikou felt like he had escaped successfully, he reverted to his original form and Ghost did the same.

"Why didn't you just fight him. He wouldn't have been able to beat you." Ghost asked.

"I wouldn't have found it too easy to beat him either, and with all the people watching us, one would've taken advantage and fucked me up!" Raikou explained.

Ghost smiled at his answer. As a beast that lived in a forest of beasts, he was always in fight or flight situations. He obviously knew why they ran, but he wanted to see how much progress Raikou had made mentally. If this was before, Raikou would've looked only at the opponent's strength and attacked him.

Raikou took a look at his stats to see his improvements.

His cultivation had gone up by two levels, with every breakthrough he was currently getting +100 on his max capacity for energy levels. His energy itself was extremely low, as he hadn't had time to recuperate from all the events. It also reminded him of the importance of checking the usage of energy on each skill he employed.

2 of his skills had also brokethrough in mastery. Cloud steps had broken through to transcendence, which gave him a permanent addition of 10 agility. Energy cloak had improved, making it easier to maintain the cloak with less usage of energy.

Overall, Raikou was extremely happy with the gains he had obtained from the cave. He could also feel his sword mastery on the verge of breaking through, which was something he would work on once he recuperated.
