Raikou went back to the class the next day to prepare for his useless promotion to class 2A. Due to more teams from 2B winning, Lilia was sent over to be the teacher for 2A.
He entered the class and everyone turned around to see who it was. Nearly everyone in the class had a look of wariness and fear when looking at Raikou. They didn't want to be the next ones on the receiving end of his 'attacks', they'd rather fight 'Amelia' or Moses.
He sat next to Satella. "Hey 'Amelia'." He added some emphasis on her name and smiled at her.
"I saw what you did yesterday. Does someone as strong as you even need to resort to such tactics?" She whispered.
"It's just fun. Imagine living life being uptight and focusing purely on cultivation. There has to be a balance to truly enjoy life." He replied.
Everytime she spoke to him, she felt as if she was learning something new about him. She assumed he was an idiot, then she thought he was a hidden expert, and now she does not know whether he is one or the other. She was intrigued by it though.
Satella blushed at her own thoughts and turned her head away from Raikou.
Lilia introduced herself as the new 2A teacher and explained the benefits of succeeding in the battle assessment. "To all the new students that entered from 2B, you will be given the opportunity to acquire one skill from the academy's skill library. This is a special privilege to those who enter class 2A through the assessment, rather than entering through being in the academy long enough or reaching a high enough cultivation."
"There will be another assessment to enter class 3 in a year. The whole A and B system ends with class 2 so there won't be any of that for class 3. The other method to enter class 3 is to reach a cultivation of the 7th level of rank 2. Some here are already nearing that requirement. Of course, this will restrict you from getting another free pass to pick a skill." She explained.
"Now, new students, please follow me to the skills library." She led the way to a white building with a blue scroll symbol at the front.
Raikou was interested in seeing if there were any useful skills worth his attention. He currently only had 3 combat related skills with 2 being of wind element. He wanted something that linked to one of the other elements. He planned on spending more time in the academy, but he had already solved the mystery behind Satella, thus removing any need to stay after this.
(A/N: There will be better world building after this arc. I'm still new to writing and will add new things as I continue. Bear with me!)
Lilia opened the doors and Raikou was greeted to sight similar to that of the normal library he had snuck into previous. However, there were alot more people patrolling, due to skill scrolls being way more valuable than ordinary books.
"You can only pick one skill. You can take any skill, but you will have to return it within a week. The shelves are all labelled with the ranks of the skills in that section." Lilia explained.
He looked and saw 10 bookshelves for F rank, 10 for E, 8 for D and it reduced till there was only one bookshelf for B rank.
Raikou walked straight to the B rank bookshelf to browse.
He saw a few skills for warriors that caught his eye. Especially 3 that seemed better than the rest.
Skill: Lightning Slicer
Rank: B
Description: A powerful slash that channels 10,000 volts through your weapon. Blade is sharper when this skill is activated. +20 Strength when used.
This looked extremely lethal to Raikou and was a great option to add to his arsenal.
Skill: Earth Wall
Rank: B
Description: Allows you to summon a solid wall of earth 5 metres high and 1 metre thick.
It didn't have many uses, but with his high affinity and wisdom, he could create a wall extremely strong and would be a great defensive skill.
Skill: Water Healing
Rank: B
Description: Heals wounds, such as deep cuts and uncontrollable bleeding.
The reason for considering this one was obvious, it heals.
He was considering his options until he saw a tattered book placed on it's own in the B rank section. He picked it up and inspected it.
Skill: Aura
Rank: B+
Description: 7% Increase to physical stats when activated. Uses Darkness Element.
He was immediately drawn to it's effects. Every skill he had seen so far gave a small boost in stats, but never a percentage increase. With his high stats, his strength would implode with this skill.
"The + in front of the rank links to a percentage boost rather than a fixed stat boost. You're percentage boost would be at 10% at the initial level, if your affinity was perfect in the darkness element and + skills require a higher level of wisdom. Usually someone would only get 1 or 2% increase, getting 7% is testament to your wisdom. Yours is equivalent to someone at the peak of the elder level." The system explained.
He took this to the librarian and placed it on the desk.
The librarian frowned. "Are you sure you want this. People checked this out in the past, but were unable to cultivate it."
"I'm sure." Raikou didn't need to actually take the book, due to the system, but it would make it more realistic to take it and he could give it to Ghost to comprehend.
Ding! Ability Acquired.
Aura...
He went back to his dorm to show Ghost the new skill. He was wondering if he could comprehend it. Maybe he had the darkness element from being in contract with Raikou, he wanted to see if there were any developments.
"I wouldn't get your hopes up. If anything, he would get the light affinity from being with you. His elements lean towards a lighter approach, heh." The system intervened on his thoughts.
"Maybe you could alter the requirements for him?"
"Not possible." The system shut him down.
Raikou was disappointed, but decided to let Ghost try anyway.
