Raikou assumed there would be some sort of vehicle that they would be using, but the stingy academy requires them to walk there.
"Walking... It's 250miles away! That will take us atleast 2 days with all the stops and stuff." He muttered.
"Does it matter, aren't you excited to join the academy. I think it's worth the journey!" Moses remarked.
"I'm just going there to get my hands on some manuals and kick some ass..." He thought. Externally he said, "Yeah, you're probably right!"
The emissary suddenly stopped. "Right everyone. Split into 5 lines and walk in a uniform fashion, disorganisation can cause issues on the journey. We may encounter beasts or bandits along the way, being within a good structure allows me to assess all dangers and for you to aid each other in case of trouble."
All the students were panicked after hearing that, even the 'macho' man Victor. Surprisingly, Moses wasn't fazed by the news.
"Looks like this trip won't be as smooth as I had hoped." He thought. "Then again, it can be some good xp. I need to reach rank 2, so that I can use some good skills. The system evolution doesn't seem to be happening any time soon."
"All good things come to those who wait." The system replied.
Raikou rolled his eyes. "Stop trying to be philosophical..."
"No chance of that, I shall do what I want. Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he will eat for life!"
"Seriously... How was that relevant to this situation. Spouting random proverbs aren't going to make you look smart."
"I don't need to look smart, I don't have a body!"
"...Fuck off." The conversation ended there.
They continued walking for another 6 hours before taking a break, due to the sun beginning to set.
They all sat around a campfire that wasn't even lit. The emissary explained that he wanted the journey to feel genuine.
"What does that even mean? We don't even feel that cold with our cultivations, let alone the fact that it's not even cold. This emissary has a screw loose in his head." He muttered to Ghost.
(A/N: I wanted to say it's not even winter, but fuck the seasons.)
"Everyone has their quirks. Look at you, you like men." Ghost replied.
Raikou glared at him and screamed "Fight me you bitch! That was an accident, he looked like a girl from behind! It's not my faul..." He quickly stopped, as he didn't want the other students to misunderstand the situation and label him a homosexual. He has nothing against them, but he isn't one himself.
Ghost smirked at him and went back to sleep.
Raikou was about to go to sleep, when he saw a pair of glowing red eyes in the distance. He inspected the silhouette to check what it was.
Name: Two-Tailed Fox

Raikou's eyes widened, as he sped to the emissary and woke him up.
"What are you doing, don't disturb my sleep!" He said with annoyance.
Raikou pointed in the direction of the fox.
The emissary's eyes widened "Oh shit, a two tailed fox. Each tail corresponds to a rank, it's at the soldier level like me! It's energy fluctuations are higher than me, we're fucked!"
The emissary was filled with fear, but he still prepared for a battle instead of running away.
"It seems he has a conscience, I half expected him to escape and leave us to die." Raikou was impressed.
"I may not be as strong as a Rank 2 beast, but I may be able to do some damage if it's distracted by fighting you. Bring it away from here to avoid the others dying, none of them will be any use other than me." Raikou offered.
The emissary hesitated, but decided to agree after some thought. There was no other back up and he had to hope that he had some use.
Raikou hid in a bush and waited for the fox to approach. It was in a crouched position, walking slowly towards the camp. It ignored the emissary's attempts at distracting it and continued towards the camp.
Raikou clenched his jaw. "What do I do?" He got out of the bush and ran in the opposite direction of the camp.
The emissary's eyes went cold, as he assumed that Raikou was trying to escape.
"Hey little fox, come get this pipe motherfucker!" The fox turned around at his words and growled.
"WHAT DOES THE FOX SAY?" Raikou started spouting all sorts of nonsense to get it's attention.
It raced towards him and smacked it's front paw into his body.
Raikou went flying 20 meters backwards. His lungs felt like they were collapsing as he struggled to stand up.
"Am I going to die?" he whispered.
Ding! Requirements met: Have a near death experience!
System is evolving!
Level up! Level up!
Raikou felt his whole body slowly heal up with the system's evolution.
He laughed in relief. "Little fox bitch, do I even look injured to you? Watch how this daddy bends you over. Actually, I haven't confirmed your gender. Let's not do that!"
"Master, you're lucky. This fox is a girl."
Raikou looked over to see Ghost approaching. He looked even more cool compared to when Raikou first met him. He looked like he was made out of his ice with his fur glistening, he also seemed much bigger than before.
(A/N: Don't know how to describe an icy colour, help me in the comments. I was thinking glace or something, idk.)
Ghost pounced forward and bit the fox's tail and ripped it straight off.
"The strength of a fox is in it's tail. Rip it off and they get significantly weaker."
"How are you this fucking strong?"
"I presume your 'system' evolved, because I suddenly felt full of power and transformed. I sensed you were in danger and raced over. Why didn't you wake me to fight before?"
"You were weaker than me, I didn't want to put you in danger."
"How touching." Ghost joked, but Raikou could see a happy look on his face.
Raikou saw a ice spear form behind Ghost, which zoomed and impaled the fox to a tree.
"I'll let you have the final hit, I saw you train and killing these beasts gives you strength doesn't it?"
"Yeah, i'll explain later. THANKS FOR THE FREE MEAL." Raikou screamed as he ran towards the fox.
"Who's your daddy? I'm your daddy, you little shit." Raikou smirked and punched the fox in the head.
Two-tailed fox killed +10,000xp
Level up!
The emissary finally arrived on the scene to see Raikou breakthrough to rank 2.
"What! How did you kill it? Wait, your pet is covered in ice. Oh my god! It's a rank 2 wolf! WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON HERE?" The emissary looked like he was about to go crazy with all these questions.
"My wolf can hide it's energy. Good protection, am I right?" Raikou laughed, as he made up some bullshit lie.
"How did you get such a powerful companion?"
"I found him injured and nurtured it back to health." Raikou told another lie, as him being able to initiate a lifeblood contract is hard to explain without scrolls or methods provided by experts.
(A/N: Not the expert level, just referring to strong cultivators)
The emissary believed his story and went to check on the others.
"He sure took his time getting here, I feel like he was abit scared. How else did he take 10 fucking years to arrive on the scene." Raikou muttered to Ghost.
Ghost laughed.
