12 Selection (1)

Today was the day of the selection event. The Birminfram Royal Academy emissary was to arrive soon.

"It's going to be an interesting day." Raikou muttered.

He got up from his bed, stretched and got ready for the day.

"Ghost, no need for the ice today. We're going to pop up with a big bang!" He grinned.

Ghost nodded and went back to cultivating next to the bed.

"You're not going to suddenly breakthrough from a few extra minutes of cultivating. Get off your ass, we're going out."

"It's nice to have hope at the very least. Let me have my blissful moments of false hope, don't ruin it."

"Yeah yeah... Let's go!"

Ding! You have a new quest.

Quest: Achieve first place in the disciple selection event.

Reward: 2500xp

Bonus objective: Pull Victor's trousers down during your battle. +2500xp (Only redeemable, if main objective is completed.)

Raikou looked at the quest and began laughing.

"You finally gave me a quest I like. I can be badass and embarrass Victor all in one. I'm really going to have to impress the emissary to avoid Victor's dad trying to kick my ass."

The recruitment was going to be held in the arena near the city lord's residence. Raikou made his way with his normal appearance, he had decided to reveal himself pre-selection instead of during it.

When he arrived, he was quite amazed. The arena was of high quality and was the only place in the whole city other than the city lord's residence that wasn't on it's last leg.

"This city lord is 'great' isn't he. His people are all living in shitty conditions and he decides to spend money on an arena instead of improving the city's buildings. Behind every arrogant young master, there is an arrogant daddy figure."

Ghost agreed with Raikou and sighed. "This is how life is. The strong belittle the weak instead of protecting them. This city isn't even that bad compared to what other places are like. Beasts are even more discriminatory, they base all interactions on bloodline. They would even disrespect beasts of similar cultivation if their bloodline was lower. And that's just towards beasts, they despise humans. Then again, humans deserve it..."

Raikou laughed. "I'm not going to disagree with that. From my experiences...cough novels... humans are always the ones causing issues for others first."

"I will never be able to understand some of the things you say, but I agree with the parts I understood." Ghost remarked.

The entrance to the arena had two guards stationed to keep out any... actually, what are they trying to keep out?

"I have come for the disciple recruitment to show off my skills."

The guards were amused by his behaviour "Ok, go in. Make sure you don't die to our young master Victor, your piddling cultivation will have difficulty against him."

Raikou simply smiled and thought "Ahhh, the more people that hate on me, the more people that will be amazed when I kick ass."

Externally, he replied "You can't even see my cultivation, don't assume my cultivation."

"I need to bring some feminists into this world, so that we can chant 'don't assume gender' and 'don't assume my cultivation' together. That would be quite the sight. They would hate this world filled with more misogyny than 5 Earths put together." He muttered.

The guards saw his rambling as that of a crazy man and ignored him after that. They let him through and went back to standing like stone statues.

The spectator seats were filled with people looking for fights to watch, there were atleast 1000 people spectating.

Raikou was elated to see the amount of people that will see his fights. "It's good that I don't have any ties to this world other than you Ghost. I can play around with no worries of people attacking my friends, you're always by my side and we can run away from strong enemies together. Also, don't forget our plot armour. Hopefully I have it this time..."

Ghost just smiled at Raikou's ramblings. He really enjoyed his master's behaviour. It may be dangerous, but it was also extremely exhilarating to partake in.

There were 10 battle stages for the event, they were all empty at this current moment. The emissary was sat upon a throne in the highest spectator box dressed in all black, as if he was trying to win a 'looking mysterious' contest. The city lord was sat next to him in a normal chair, behaving in a partially subervient manner.

Raikou inspected them to see how strong they were.

Name: Brentley Hodge | Age: 57

Cultivation: Rank 2 9th Level

Name: Petits Fritas | Age: 50

Cultivation: Rank 2 9th Level

They were both peak soldier level experts, but the city lord was behaving like the emissary is his daddy.

"Being a city lord is quite useless if your status is lower than that of an ordinary emissary of the academy." He thought.

He then recalled "Damn that emissary's name sounds like fries in french" He went into a laughing fit that made him receive many glares from the spectators. The city lord and emissary didn't even react as if everyone around them was unworthy of their gaze.

"Isn't that overkill for being merely at the peak of rank 2, they're both old bastards as well." He muttered to himself.

Raikou ignored all the glares and grabbed a ticket from the registration booth.

He looked down at the ticket to see that his number was 666.

"What the fuck, are they calling me a devil. Actually, that's quite badass. They can call me the Devil of Sexiness!" He laughed before continuing "Right then, let's go and complete a quest. I hope there's no killing allowed, I don't think I want to do any of that just yet."

Raikou was waiting for Victor to walk into the arena and see his reaction to his presence.

It didn't take long before he arrived and they closed off any more entries after Victor grabbed his ticket. Raikou waved at Victor to get his attention. "Hey buddy, did you miss me?"

"YOU!"
