31 Returning To The Academy

Raikou was sitting on the bed in his underwear. He was in the lotus position absorbing energy from the surroundings. (A/N: Anybody notice how often I point out that he is sitting on the bed.)

He could feel the energy in his body increasing at a rapid speed. The dantian below his navel was slowly expanding. (A/N: Thats right, a dantian. Didn't mention it did I...)

"It's coming... It's coming.... AHHHH IT'S COMING!" Raikou screamed as he could feel the breakthrough approaching.

Raikou looked at the notification, but didn't have time to be happy. He could feel loads of gunk leaking from his pores, and quickly ran to the bathroom to clean himself.

He returned and took a look at his stat page.

"System. Why didn't I get a reward for getting 100 in my other stats?" He asked.

"The other stats are physical stats. You would've been given a body refining method normally, but special circumstances allowed you to acquire the fiendgod one beforehand. Therefore, you were not deemed worthy of an award at 100 value in physical stats."

Raikou always wondered why he never got a special skill in his previous life.

"It probably has something to do with me not being under 'their' control this time round." Raikou thought.

Raikou put his clothes on and looked in the mirror. He was thoroughly impressed with his current appearance. Breaking through to transcendence in his body refining method had improved his features somewhat. His height had increased to 1.95m and his muscles had increased in size, which made him look more manly compared to before where you could only see his muscles when he was not clothed.

"It's been enough time. This breakthrough took longer than I thought it would. We need to return to the academy. However, I think I should reduce my cultivation to 2nd rank 4th level to look weaker." Raikou had a creepy smile on his face as he left the hotel and made his way back.

While they were walking, Raikou checked his pet page to see Ghost's energy values. The new feature allowed him to see both the energy values of himself and Ghost, as he was part of the system too. Ghost had values of 500/500 at the same cultivation as Raikou.

Ghost was special and had more energy than others at the same level, and he was still dwarved by Raikou. This displayed to Raikou how big his energy levels were compared to other cultivators.

"Heh, I am just too amazing. Although, I don't know why this feature took so long to be added." Raikou's eyes lit up from the revelation, and then switched to a questioning gaze.

"Listen. I'm not perfect. I'm learning too!" The system defended itself.

(A/N: Sorry system. I'm going to use you to cover my own faults.)

1 hour later...

They had finally reached the academy.

"Let's get this over with." Raikou mumbled.

He looked up to see Lilia rushing at him. "How are your improvements? Are you injured? Did the sword serve you well? Come to the training grounds." She threw question after question at him, and then tugged on his sleeve to lead the way.

"Hey hey. The assessment is tomorrow. I can show you my improvements in the actual thing. I want it to be a surprise!" Raikou pulled away and ran.

As he was running he saw Satella and froze. She was leaving the academy. He decided to follow her and see what he could do about completing the quest regarding her.

He reduced his energy fluctuations to the mortal level and hid.

After 10 miles of following her, he saw her stop at a store.

"What do I do now?" Raikou couldn't follow her in. That would be stupid.

He looked for a back entrance and couldn't find one. He had an idea, but it was extremely stupid.

He took a drinking glass out of his inventory and placed it against the thin walls of the store. "Here goes nothing." He whispered.

Ding! Ability Acquired. Eavesdropping (Focus and listen to any conversations within a 10m parameter at the initial level.

"What the fuck! That shit actually worked? I saw it in the movies, and thought that it was absolute bullshit. Next, you're going to say I can make a phone out of two cups and a string." He thought.

He focused on the store and listened in.

"Do I have to do this?" Satella whispered.

Raikou could hear her pleading with an unknown man.

"Do you want your mother to be embroiled in our affairs? You know that with our interference there could be many troubles ahead for her."

"But... But. You're telling me to do something extremely serious here. This is only a low ranking kingdom, but the higher ranking kingdoms will interfere if they get a whiff of us elves. You're telling me to commit a murder!"

Raikou froze. It was as he thought. She was being blackmailed into something.

At that moment he felt a gust of wind behind him. He turned around to see a spear coming his way. He evaded the spear and punched the figure in the head. The figure's head exploded from a single punch.

"He was quite weak. Why did he attack me? Oh shit, I am so stupid. I concealed my energy, but that doesn't mean I am fucking invisible!" Raikou smacked his forehead in frustration.

The mysterious man talking to Satella came out and was about to attack Raikou, when Satella grabbed Raikou and shielded him.

"Why are you protecting me?" Raikou asked.

"They're only attacking you, because of me." Satella replied.

Raikou's heart warmed at her response. "Guess she isn't so bad after all. Then again, I could hear the reluctance in her voice to do what the man said."

He inspected the man.

Name: Ligma Balls

Cultivation: Rank 4 1st Level.

Satella had assumed that Raikou was weaker than her and had shielded him. But at this moment she could feel a superior energy emanating from his body.

"I'll deal with him." Raikou got out of her grasp and unsheathed his sword.

He knew this would be an easy fight. He had broken through twice since his last fight with anyone at the 4th rank.

"Let's see how I do against a bonafide expert level cultivator." He activated his cloud steps and used the wall for more speed. He slashed at Ligma and Ligma blocked the sword with his gauntlet. The sword broke under the power of his slash, and due to being blocked by that gauntlet.

"Shit. That was my only fucking weapon." He kept his attention on Ligma and asked "Satella, if you have any sort of high quality weapon pass it here quickly!"

She was confused, but threw him two daggers.

Raikou pulled out his rusty sword and fed it the daggers. It had reached the Mortal 3rd grade with it's help.

Ligma sneered. "Even I don't have a spatial storage and a little shit like you does. I am going to take it off your body!"

"I didn't know dead men could talk. I haven't said this in a while, but... COME GET THIS PIPE YOU BITCH!" Raikou screamed and attacked.

He used cloud slashes to distract Ligma, then threw the sword in the air and elbowed him in the face. The elbow strike staggered Ligma and Raikou caught the sword in mid air, which he then brought down upon Ligma's head.
