Raikou smiled at his stat page "That's better. My stats are all either that of an average male or higher, good enough to start my journey! An experience point meter has been added too!"

He got up and started walking towards the nearest city mapped in his memories, Hodge City.

After walking for an hour, he started to see a silhouette of a large wall in the distance. He continued towards it until he reached a gate with two guards standing in front of it.

One of the guards saw Raikou approaching and sneered "Hey you, there's a 2 silver entrance fee to get in. With the state of your clothing and body, I don't think you can afford it."

Raikou had learned his lesson from offending people willy nilly, so he calmed himself and asked "Can I bring you something of equivalent value to exchange for entrance?"

The guard laughed and replied "Sure, if you can that is."

"Are there any places nearby where low level beasts reside?"

In response he received a gaze full of contempt "Can you even kill a beast. Ah well, it's not my problem if you die. If you head west of this gate, there is a forest 10 miles down."

Raikou rolled his eyes "Gee, thanks for the help."

He began heading west and looked down at his body, it was covered in grime and sweat from cultivating. His clothes were in tatters and he had no shoes on.

"He's not wrong, I don't look like I can kill a beast in this state. Did he not see his kickass body though." Raikou laughed and continued walking.

He came to a stop after seeing the forest, already at the entrance he could see some weird looking rabbits lurking.

He tried inspecting them with the system

Ding! Ability Acquired: Observation.

Name: Mutated Rabbit

Cultivation: Rank 1 1st Level

There were 4 of them and they looked extremely weak, the system was unable to gather anymore information on them.

"Hey system, why can't I see anything past the name and cultivation?"

"You need the increase your mastery of the observation skill you acquired. At the initial level you will only be able to see the name and cultivation. Should be enough for now, these rabbits look like weak little bastards."

Raikou laughed "No need for the extra input."

Before approaching them, he looked around to see if there's anything he can use as a weapon. He picked up a sturdy looking branch of the floor.

Name: Sturdy Oak Branch

Quality: N/A

Description: A sturdy tree branch! You can try smacking the enemies to death or until the shitty branch breaks.

His observation ability uses his own knowledge to inspect objects, so he is unable to see the quality of equipment just yet.

He crouched down and slowly approached one of the rabbits, he raised the branch above his head and smacked it off the rabbit's head.

Ding! Mutated Rabbit Killed, +10 xp.

After seeing one of their own die, the other rabbits immediately attacked Raikou. Their speed was shockingly quick for their low cultivation. They all started biting and clawing at Raikou's body.

"What the fuck! They scared the shit out of me with their speed, but their bites are so weak. Let's see how long they can keep this up for." He laughed and just stood there.

15 minutes later... Ding! Your mastery of the Fiendgod Body Refining Method has reached small perfection. +6 Strength +8 Agility +8 Toughness

Raikou was ecstatic. "Who knew their shitty little attacks had some use, but now I can't feel anything from their attacks whatsoever. Let's just finish this."

Raikou started waving the branch around like a madman and killed them midway through them trying to pounce on him.

3x Mutated Rabbits Killed, +30 xp

Ding! Quest completed: Kill your first opponent

Reward: Body strengthening pills x10

"I decided to hold off on the quest notification until you had your fun with them, am I not a gracious AI. Also, those pills are useless to you as your body is too strong for them to have any effect. You can convert them directly into xp."

"Cool! However, in the future notify of completed quests instantly."

"Tsk, you're no fun..."

He opened up his inventory and click the convert option on the pills. They gave him 10xp per pill.

You have levelled up!

He opened up his stat page to see the upgrade

"System, how can I increase the other 3 stats"

"Intelligence is what you need to cast a spell and wisdom increases your spell strength and resistance. These stats will only be required in Rank 2 or above. Your body refining method won't improve them, an energy cultivation method will improve them. Lucky encounters and other things may help you do it though."

"What about my charm stat?"

"That is a fixed stat, it can only be raised in special circumstances. There is no normal method to improve it."

He smirked and said "I'm sexy enough as it is right now, we can try to fix that later."

He put his attention back onto the rabbits, according to his memories a beast as weak as this can be sold for 10 bronze each. 100 bronze is equivalent to 1 silver and 100 silver is equivalent to 1 gold.

"I need to collect more beasts, I don't have enough to exchange for. If only I could come across a dying rank two beast, that is the true MC way. Rank 1 beasts don't have cores so they're not worth much."

Raikou complained about his luck as the MC for another 5 minutes while looking for more beasts to kill.

He traversed the set path in the forest for a while, until he encountered a wolf that was bleeding out.

Name: Direwolf

Cultivation: Rank 2 ???

He wasn't able to get anymore information with his low mastery of the observation skill.

"Motherfucker! Can it get more cliche than this!" Raikou exclaimed.

He approached the wolf and hesitated.

"It feels extremely different to kill a dying beast compared to the lively rabbits. Even then I was surprised I did all that without much of a reaction. It was my first time killing anything..."

After hesitating for a bit, he consoled himself by writing it off as a 'mercy killing' and brought the branch down on the wolf's head. The branch broke without causing any damage and the wolf looked up at him with a pleading expression.

He retreated with shame and collapsed to the floor.

"Damn, I can't do this! System, is there anyway to make it my pet. It's perfect as a companion."

"Rank 2 and above beasts are extremely intelligent, it can understand you. Try to initiate a lifeblood contract with it."

"That sounds scary, what are the downsides."

"There are no downsides for you, it requires the consent of both parties. The beast will die if you die, but you won't die if it dies."

After hearing this, he approached the wolf again and asked it "Sorry about that, I'm abit of a bastard. I know that's not an excuse, but I have a way for you to live. Partake in a lifeblood contract with me, nod for yes and shake your head for no."

The wolf rolled it's eyes at Raikou's patronising words towards it's intelligence. It didn't have long left and didn't want to die, so it nodded it's head to the request.

"...System, I forgot to ask. How do I initiate a lifeblood contract?" he said sheepishly.

"Just draw blood on your palm and connect it with that of the beast's blood. If it's given it's consent I will do the rest. You would normally require a method used by cultivators, but I can do the hard part for you."

Raikou listened and then did that the system told him to do. The wolf's injuries healed instantly to his amazement.

You have initiated a lifeblood contract with Direwolf!

Ding! Pet menu added to the system.

Raikou's eyes brightened as he checked the system.
