8 Ghost
Raikou looked at his new companion's stats in confusion.
"System, why has it's cultivation gone down?"
"Your pet's cultivation can not be a realm higher than yours, so it's cultivation has regressed to Rank 1."
"Sorry fella, now you have two things to be pissed off about." He said to the wolf after it glared at him.
"What's your name?"
Raikou looked around and exclaimed "Who's that?"
"It's me, look down you idiot. I can speak into your mind, due to the lifeblood contract."
"...ohhhh. Hey, who're you calling an idiot."
"I'm calling you an idiot, who attacks a rank 2 beast with a shitty branch."
Raikou scratched his head and shamelessly said "I did that on purpose, I was testing your skill and if you're worthy of being my companion."
"Fuck off, you tried to kill me. I can forgive you for that, as you kinda saved my life too."
He lifted it up from the tail and checked it's 'parts'. "Oh, you're a male. I'm going to name you Ghost. I'll be your John Ice!" He named the direwolf after the companion of his favourite tv show character.
Ghost growled at Raikou "I like the name, but if you touch my tail again I will bite your balls off you son of a bitch."
Raikou cried some crocodile tears "Both my AI and pet companion are both quite rude to me, it's a hard life I am living."
The system and Ghost responded in sync "Spare me the waterworks."
"Isn't there some hidden quest for getting a pet? I feel cheated."
Ghost was confused "What are you talking about? What is a system. Wait, who was that other person that spoke with me."
"That's my system, it lets me see my stats and skills. Stuff like that. You're both my companions."
"I don't understand exactly, but ok."
"Fuck all that, let's get back to you Ghost. What kind of shitty skills are Bite and Scratch."
"Hmph, they are more effective than the name suggests. My Ice spear is unavailable till I get back to Rank 2."
"Yeah right, how did you get your ass kicked if they're 'so effective'"
"I was giving a female direwolf my 'pipe', when we were both attacked by a rank 2 grizzly bear. It ate her and left me to bleed out."
Raikoub started laughing "You got attacked while having sex! HAHAHA, that's the worst way to die. Imagine if I never came along. Your metaphorical gravestone would say 'here lies a dumb bastard who died while giving the pipe' HAHAHA."
"Tsk. A virgin like you is hating on me?"
Raikou froze. Ghost hit him in his soft spot. He spent a decent amount of time on Earth and still didn't get a girl. His luck was terrible and it didn't help that he was poor as fuck.
He retorted after abit "Kiss my ass. Enough chit chat, lets go hunt some beasts!"
"Stay away from the inner region of the forest, there are rank 3 beasts and a rank 4 overlord there. Even rank 2 beasts like me only scurry on the outskirts of the inner region, I was only this far out to have sex. I didn't expect to get attacked in a rank 1 beast area."
"Don't worry, we will come back when we're stronger to kill that bear."
He said that to console Ghost as they walked around looking for prey.
6 hours later...
Raikou and Ghost tried to stay safe and only hunted mutated rabbits, at this pointed they had hunted 50 rabbits together.
"We got carried away, it's time to go."
They walked back to the Hodge City gate and Raikou withdrew 20 rabbits from his inventory. He ensured that he did this beforehand to avoid the guards seeing that he has a spatial storage. A little city in a lower ranked kingdom didn't have any people with spatial storages, those were used by general level experts at minimum.
The guard saw Raikou approaching "Oh, you're back. Impressive, you have a peak rank 1 direwolf with you. I was wrong about you, but you look even dirtier than before. There's a shop nearby that purchases beasts, I will give you a slip with your required sum on there. Ensure that you come straight back after selling the rabbits or you will be arrested by our city guard troop."
Raikou nodded and went it. He was surprised by their behaviour, he had based it off his novels where they would scream 'trash' a hundred times.
"Still have to stay vigilant at all times though" he muttered.
He stopped in front of a store that looked like it was about to fall apart and saw an old woman at the counter.
He walked in and dropped the rabbits on the counter one by one. He had taken the other 30 rabbits on the way to the store, so it looked even more spectacular when he dropped them. The first four rabbits he hunted were eaten by him and Ghost, so there were less to sell.
The old woman looked at him with amusement "Did you not take a bag or anything with you when you went hunting."
Raikou scratched his head and said "It was my first time hunting, I had no preparation. The guards told me where to hunt to earn money for the entrance fee."
She took another look at him and was quite shocked "Boy, I am impressed you were able to hunt all these rabbits. You really need a bath and some new clothes. I would normally give you 5 silver for these rabbits, but I will give you 10 as a one off. Bring your beasts here next time too, I will give you the best price."
Raikou's heart was warmed by her actions. He clasped his hands and thanked her.
He ran back to the guards, gave them their 2 silver and began exploring the city. It wasn't much of a city, everything was run down most people were only of rank 1 or 2 in strength. There didn't seem to be any rank 3s here at all.
Raikou had 8 silver left to spend, so he went to a bathhouse to get cleaned up. He also bought some new clothes; a simple black top, burgundy trousers and some sturdy boots for his travels.
He looked at himself and marvelled "I look like a living sex magnet right now, god damn I am sexy."
He went to a hotel and rented a room. The room was small and not much was in there, but it was tidy and better than anything he has seen in a while. Raikou sat on the bed, while Ghost was curled up on the floor.
"Right, time to look at my gains from my hunt!"

"I'm getting stronger gradually. After looking at Ghost's stats, it seems I am able to fight up to the peak of Rank 1. An actual fight would be trouble though, I don't have any experience fighting humans. On top of that, I don't have any skills. I'm going to sleep for now and I will deal with all that tomorrow."
Raikou was extremely tired from this whole day of cultivating and hunting. He hasn't had a proper sleep since he entered this world. It was weighing down on him mentally and physically.
He fell asleep within a minute of closing his eyes.
