CHAPTER 27 - GIVE HER TO ME

"Father...I want to marry the man Anna was betrothed to..."

Hearing this Lucas choked on his wine. He began to cough excessively. He must have heard wrong...

In the dark Nathan chuckled. Were all the people in this palace stupid? This girl was just as stupidly ambitious as her father. Anyway, it was all good. Just as he thought he would need to find someone...

Nora didn't know why her father was choking all of a sudden. She stood up and fetched him some water.

"Father...is anything wrong? Why are you choking suddenly? " Nora asked while she rubbed his back and gave him the water.

"Just now, wh...what did you say..?"

Lucas asked and received the water. He was hoping he had heard wrong...

Nora furrowed her brows. Why was her father asking again...

" I said I want to marry the man Anna was supposed to marry..." she repeated, puffing up her cheeks. This made her look so childish

Lucas stood up agitated, his face looking so tense. He was not affected by her looks at all...

" No, you can't! You can not marry that man..." he spoke harshly with clenched jaws.

"Father!... Why am I not allowed to marry him? Is Anna better than me?? What does she have that I don't? Why does she get to marry an outstanding man, while I can only marry those pot-bellied old dukes with so many wives??..." Nora spoke indignantly.

"....." Lucas was speechless. In which wood did he carve out this daughter? Knowing that Nathan was probably listening, he didn't want to say anything stupid. Honestly, right now he felt like casting this daughter into the dungeon. While others were running away from death, she was willing to embrace it.

He decided to calm down and speak like a father...

"Nora, the marriage between Anna and that man has already been arranged. There is no changing it..." He said, trying hard to sound reasonable.

"But Father... Anna has been missing for ten years. You're not thinking she's still alive, are you?? She's probably dead...and...and we can't keep a man that good waiting for so long right... A man who has been able to wait for a woman that long is an honorable man...Father, you are the king, don't keep him waiting...let me marry him...please..."

Nora spoke attempting to coax her father

"..." Honorable man??? Lucas was done talking gently.

"Go to your room, tomorrow Duke Darius will be here to visit you. This time I am not taking a no for an answer..." Lucas spoke sternly

"Father...!"

" Shut up! Go to your room! And ask your brother hiding behind that door to go back to his...or both of you will be sleeping in the dungeon tonight..."

Lucas shot back at her before she could continue. He sensed Andy's presence the moment Nora entered the courtyard. This son of his was not good at hiding his aura like Andrew. It would have been very difficult to sense if it was Andrew hiding there... Looks like they are starting to doubt him... Why would he need to hide and listen? Unless he was suspecting something...

Nora walked out of the courtyard, fuming mad. She didn't bother to look at her brother who had gotten out of his hiding place at all.

Andy had heard clearly what the king said. It would be very foolish of him if he were still stuck there. He followed the infuriated Nora out quietly while wondering so many things. The King sounded so agitated and never had he heard his father speak that way before. He sounded afraid. This old Jerk was known to not fear anyone...Who the hell is the man Anna was supposed to marry??

In the courtyard, Nathan disclosed his presence.

" You have interesting little daughters..." Nathan voiced out.

"M...my apologies, she doesn't know what she is talking about..." Lucas began with a stammer...All his daughters could do was land him in trouble. None of them could do anything right. If Anna had not fled, his plans would have worked and he wouldn't have been facing this predicament.

"Actually...I think it's good. Give her to me."

Nathan suddenly said, causing Lucas to widen his eyes...

"Wh...what???"

Lucas almost couldn't bring the word out. Was he going to sacrifice another one of his daughters again?

"Ooh come on, didn't you hear what she said? It's not good to keep an honorable man waiting for long... I need a sorcerer to contend with an old puppet. Back then she caused me to lose all my good sorcerers, I haven't gotten back at her yet. So I need another good one and I think your daughter is a good material... Besides you have kept me waiting for long. I have been so magnanimous enough to have not killed you. You can hand this daughter over to me to placate my anger while I wait for my desired one..." Nathan said, his voice still without any emotion...

"B..but sh...she knows nothing about magic, how can she become a sorcerer?" Lucas asked with uncertainty

"Don't worry, I have my way to turn her into one. Besides it is her wish to marry me... Haven't you heard, a father must fulfill his daughter's heart-longed wishes? Do you refuse??" Nathan asked, his lips turning up in a smirk.

Lucas shivered, his back and palms were sweaty. Refuse?? He wouldn't dare. It was this useless daughter's death wish anyway, he couldn't be blamed...

"I will hand her over to you then... Shall it be in a marriage form??" Lucas asked, he will do anything this devil wanted...

" Yes, I am an honorable man... I wouldn't want to have an innocent girl without marrying her first..." Nathan said with a smile that only gave Lucas goosebumps. He is an honorable man??? He is going to turn his daughter into his puppet. How is that honorable??

" In five years, I will make her into a formidable sorcerer... I would like to see how that woman would deal with this...and I would like to know exactly what she is hiding... I want the marriage within this week..." Nathan declared and disappeared, leaving Lucas to heave a huge sigh of relief, but again worry etched in his heart. Was he taking the right path? All he wanted was to be the most formidable king, with no one taking his place...why was this so hard to achieve??
