Sammy Orion has fought a battle no one in his life knows about. Not his parents, not his siblings, or even his own childhood friend Mako Kirishima. And especially not the Russian boy named Niklaus Vostrovsky who defected from the Hunters and came to Alexandria for safety. No one knows, and Sammy wants to keep it that way. So why is it that Niklaus being close makes him want to tear the walls he’s built around himself, around his heart, down ferociously? To be open, vulnerable, and honest about the hell he’s suffering through every single day? If his own childhood friend doesn’t deserve to know, then why does he? Why does Sammy WANT him to know? He’ll just laugh, or scorn him, or just turn tail and run like others have.. right?
