1 Epilogue

The rain poured harshly on the city of Evenstone, the streets empty except the lamp dampeners and a young woman running frantically down the streets. Puddles splashing wildely as she made her way to a small cottage in the lower district. Screams of pain could be heard as she barged into the main room where a young woman with black hair lay on the floor, and a frightened looking man sitting behind her while stroking her hair.

The woman let out an ear piercing scream yet again as the young woman rushed over to check her over.

"How long between the pains Greta?" the young woman asked as she touched the other woman's engorged stomach.

"They are so close she barely had time to recover from the last." the worried man said as she grasped his wife's hand while she gasped for breath.

"Alright Greta, you are going to have to push now. I'm here to make sure everything is going to be ok." the young woman gave a reasuring smile.

Greta gave her a firm nod, her forehead already drenched from her efforts so far.

It took some time but as the storm broke the young woman held out a glowing baby boy with vibrant gold eyes to his father.

"Thank the gods they are both alright!" the man exclaimed as he took his son from the cleric. Who gave Greta a knowing look before reaching for her hand. " We've got one more babe to deliver Greta. You can do it ok?"

Greta gave her a worn out nod before she felt the pains ripping through her. The young cleric looked on in horror as a furry black skinned babe ripped from it's mother in a bloody mess of claws, horns, pawed feet and a lions tail. Greta began bleeding profusely and the young cleric had to weave healing magic upon her in lu of taking care of the now wiggling babe on the floor.

The man looked on in horror as his wife was stitched back together by magic. His ire drawn to the almost cat like creature that came from her. He grabbed the babe by it's furry neck and walked to the trough out front where he shoved it under until it stopped moving. When he was satisfied the beast was dead he walked back into the house.

As he walked away the blond babe with golden eyes reached a hand to his sibling. His eyes burning bright before he fell asleep in his father's arms.

The young cleric, exhausted from healing but happy to have received some coin, walked out into the morning light to see the demon the woman had birthed in the trough. Shame she thought to herself, maybe the local wizards will trade her some coin for it. She fished out the little body, as she touched it the babe began to squirm and cough. "It's alive!?" she gasped as she picked it up. "You'll fetch more alive anyway in the pit. Oh today is my lucky day." she smiled as she walked to the upper district of Evenstone.
