On a beautiful night, in the warm summer of Montego Bay, Jamaica, a child was born in the local Regional Hospital. However, this child was like no other at the time. This child would be the first of five unique children in the world. Abigay Smith lay on the hospital bed, enduring the labor pain of her soon-to-be child. She is scared, anxious, and she is angry. Out of all the times, her fiancé could choose not to show up. This was the worst time.

"I'm gonna kill Delroy!" She shouted with tears streaming down her face. "He better makes it or lord help meEEEEE!" Abby screamed in agony as she went through contractions. It was a normal delivery to cap off a normal pregnancy.

Until, just as Delroy walked through the door with his fear written all over his face. A small light started to shine out of Abigay's vagina. Suddenly she felt a shift in her womb and the feeling of dread filled her soul. Then suddenly there was another shift and then a feeling of relief. The light got a bit brighter as the child started to breach. A push and scream later, Kamahn [ka.mōn] Browne was born into the world. He was the light, it faded, then it was gone.

Delroy looked at his son. He struggled to process whatever that was he just saw. He took a step closer. Then he stopped. He turned around. And bolted for the exit. Abigay never saw him again. His leaving hurt badly. However, it didn't matter to her as much as her son, all she could think about was that feeling of dread. That feeling broke her heart more than Delroy ever could. She vowed to never feel that way again and to do whatever it took to ensure Kamahn's Survival.

Abigay and Kamahn had been cooped up in this Lab for 3 and a half years. The day after she gave birth to her son; news crews, reporters, and scientists from all over swarmed the hospital. A nurse had told the press of the glowing child. The news billed Kamahn as the Glow Baby.

The child was tested for months. Scientists ran every test they could. Abby's tests were over within weeks, they quickly discovered nothing abnormal about the parent. When it was discovered that Kamahn's brain function was in the highest percentile for an infant, it was decided that the abnormality must be offspring related and the test continued.

Almost a year had passed when another Glow Baby was reported in Atlanta. Abigay and Kamahn were uprooted from their homeland of Montego Bay, Jamaica, and moved to a state-of-the-art laboratory in Atlanta. Abigay wanted to resist, but after Delroy ran out on them, and the news made her child out to be everything from a messiah to a monster, there didn't feel like much of a home to go back to.

They shared the pain of this experience with another family. An aspiring actress, Josephine, and her husband Curtis the engineer along with their son Glow Baby #2 De'Sean Jeffries. Scientists found that Kamahn was going to be intellectually gifted. Whereas with Sean they found nothing out of the ordinary. Other than being an 11lb 4oz infant. Sean's brain scans only placed him slightly above average. A year later, a pair of twins were brought in. After more testing and studying, eventually, everyone lost interest. The media wrote it off as an elaborate hoax. Scientists explained it as an error in judgment by the doctors and nursing staff. According to them, the illusion of the glowing children was caused by faulty lighting and high adrenaline due to the birthing process.

All the families could go home with severance pay of one million dollars per family. If they signed an NDA (non-disclosure agreement) of course. Abby walked through the doors of the building into a city she knew nothing about. She had nothing to her name but her son and a fresh million-dollar check. Again, she was afraid. Unlike the other families, she had nowhere to go. No home to go back to. No more family. The family back home (both super religious and superstitious) shunned her for having a devil child when the media spun the story to question if the children were evil or not. As far as she was concerned, she had no other family.

After staying in a hotel for a few weeks, the Jeffries family offered for Abigay and Kamahn to live with them. During this time, all the parents would figure out how to get her on her feet. They had just bought a six-bedroom home with a pool house, so they had the room to spare. They all lived together happily for a few months, building a bond that made them family. But after so much time, Abigay felt like a nuisance, despite the Jones family insisting that she was indeed not. Hell, she was practically a free maid and a great friend.

While living with them, Abigay hired the Jeffries family's accountant Marcelo Vance as her own. Being that, he was already making a good amount of money from the Jeffries family's investments. He worked for her pro bono until she received her first investment return. After receiving her driver's license, she purchased a small SUV. Then she purchased a modest 4-bedroom condo. She wanted a house however, financially a condo would save her money in the long run. She went to work as a hairstylist after enrolling in and graduating from Cosmetology school. It was the one profession she could think of that would allow her the freedom and flexibility she needed to be the parent Kamahn needed.

Being that her investments were slowly making her richer. She didn't need to work, but after all that crazy, she just wanted her son to live a normal life. And so, they did. After a few years, Abby adopted a girl. The poor thing had been through hell. While looking through the children at the orphanage, it was only this little girl who stood out. It wasn't her radiant caramel skin or her piercing green eyes that cut through her heart like a hot knife through butter. It wasn't even the scars or tribal tattoos and markings. It was, however, that feeling. That gut-wrenching, heart-pounding, yearning to provide and protect that Abby just couldn't ignore. That unmistakable feeling that she knew all too well, the feeling she felt the moment she first saw Kamahn.
