Princess Nana's POV

After several times of patting prince's head, he finally drifted off to sleep. Patting his head reminds me of Kai.

Kai...He taught me how to comfort people. He taught me a simple and happy life. Most importantly, he taught me to love.... It's been months since the last time I saw him, but I still can't forget him. After all, how can I forget the one who taught me to love?

Going back to reality, I saw prince Ruka's figure on my lap. His face look so peaceful, yet he's so distressed inside. I couldn't imagine the pain that he have been through.

He deserves a rest so I let him, but can't promise that he will have a happy future with me. Kai's love and the warmth of his hands everytime we hug each other is still here, I still love him even if the prince is my husband now.

My thoughts drifted off onto his story. They are too cruel to Yuki. On just a simple robbery, they executed her without explaining. The case closed so fast.

Thinking deeply, I found myself reopening the case and resolving it mentally.

'Yuki is the only commoner friend of the prince for years and became his lover. So that means she is good, she is not planning something evil to the prince.

I think something gone wrong here.

If they let her live for a month on this palace to make sure she is not a criminal, why would she steal the pearl?

Is she destroying everyone's trust? No, she won't do it. Not in a million years.

To become a rich one? Of course not. If she will sell it on market or on black market, the merchants will only get suspicious on her. They will immediately catch her and maybe kill her since it is very important to the palace and will only steal it to make money.

Maybe she only wants it? No, that's stupid one. Based on the prince's likings, he only wants the plain one, the ordinary one. Not the extravagant one. And Yuki is so plain based on the prince's story. Then if she is just a simple girl, she won't steal that pearl and make it hers.

The emperor is enraged because Yuki stole the pearl so the emperor ordered to execute her, right? Who told him the idea on finding the pearl again? Oh it's Hana. Speaking of Hana, I think there's something suspicious happening between Hana and the emperor back on those years.

Yuki's position in the palace is as low as the maids there, since her place is near the place where the maids are staying. On her position, she can't enter the main palace where the pearl was placed unless the guards guarding it will allow her to enter.

To only ones who can enter on that place is the maids in charge there, the prime ministers, prince Ruka and the emperor.

Wait, thinking of the prime minister. Right prime minister Dai, father of Hana can enter,right? Then Hana can enter there too, since she can use her father as her passes.

If only them can enter, then I think one or two of them stole the pearl and put the blame on Yuki.

But why would they hate Yuki? She was nice. The maids won't do it on her, they are friends with her. The prime ministers? No, they saw Yuki's behaviour and I know they can't do it to her. Prince Ruka? Impossible, he loves Yuki to the moon and back. He can't do it. The emperor? No, he can't do those actions since he is considered as the father of the X Dynasty.

Or Hana? Hana....She hates Yuki. So it is possible to...

Yes, it is! And she is the prince's suspect from the start, but he put the blame on his father later since his father is the one who ordered the guards to execute Yuki.

It is surely that the emperor hates Yuki too. Since the one who captured the prince's heart is not from elite clan. If the palace will fall down, they can't restore it since the prince's wife is not rich. They can't summon a possible help.

What if, the two of them are suspects?

For instance, the emperor ordered Hana to steal the pearl and put it on Yuki's room when everyone's sleeping.

Only the guards from the Ichisaki clan can do those actions. They can sneak to rooms without being caught. So it is possbile for Hana to complete the mission that easily.

Then as the dawn came, the maids in charged there found out that the pearl went missing. So they reported it to the emperor.

The emperor took the hint that the pearl is already on Yuki's room so he faked his anger. Upon faking his anger, he'll order them to find the pearl on the palace.

The emperor doesn't want to be discovered, does he? He even ordered Hana to suggest that they will find the pearl on the maid's room. Thinking of it, the maids will steal the valuable pearl? Are they out of their minds?

They include Yuki's room that time, so that means they already knew that the pearl was located on Yuki's room.

Upon searching on Yuki's room, they found the pearl. The emperor ordered his guards to execute her without giving her even a little time to explain.

From the situation, it is clearly explained that they are itching to kill Yuki. People and the officials will not notice this detail since they are afraid to rumor about this and devoted to their works.

And they did it on the time that the prince is out. They knew that the prince is not a fool, he has his ways to save Yuki. So the emperor ordered him to go on that isolated place, also known as the battlefield in order to perform a foolish play.

Well, it is very tricky and well-planned. So nobody got suspicious of the emperor's actions. Of course he can't directly kill Yuki without doing such dirty plays since he is an emperor.

From the looks of the emperor, he is the type of the ruler that will sacrifice even his son's happiness just to secure the palace's wealth.

Yes, it is possible. But I am not sure of it since I haven't seen Yuki or even knew her.

I already resolved the puzzle but I won't tell the prince. It will only make him desperate to kill Hana or even the emperor.'

Ending my little brainstorming, I saw the maids in the corner of my eye fixing the plates set on the table.

"Hey, can you help me put the prince on the bed?" I ordered one of them.

"Sure, princess"

Looking at the prince's peaceful figure for the last time, I decided to lay on the floor and letting myself drift off onto my dreamland.
