22 Chapter 22

"Yes, spirits all have a set amount it time before becoming destroyed and given a new form to two to eight new spirits. All spirits cannot be destroyed unless the spell soul rot is cast, erasing the existence of the spirits, not allowing the natural cycle to take place." Everyone stared at Luna, she looked at them, wondering why they were looking at her. "What did I say?"

"You just told us how spirits have a life cycle, and that a single spell could get rid of it permanently?" Luna stared at Scarlet like she didn't know what she was talking about. "You don't remember, do you?"

Luna shook her head, Lovell touched his chin, "Maybe that was Lunatica's memories and, we triggered it, but since Lunatica is still in her recover status, so it's not possible that some of her, god, memories get triggered."

Luna confused, as Lance got up to add the meat. "So, there may be a point she will remember everything and the answers of why the dark lord has a beef with her?"

"No, every sixty reincarnations all her memories are erased, and only the ones dealing with her godly duties remain." Fang was answering Lance's question.

"Do we know how many times she has been reincarnated?" Zephyr was asking the obvious question on everyone's mind.

Fang looked at Luna, "I think over fifty-nine hundred thousand times, being she never lives till now no more than a month to two years old."

They all dropped their mouths, Lovell l turned to the food, as Lance continued cooking, his mind drifting, got up. "I'm going to cool off by the river." No one spoke as he left.

Lovell stood at the water's edge, staring at the night sky, trying to find the answers within. Luna walked up to him. "Lovell?"

Lovell jumped as he heard Luna talk. "You scared me! Anyway, what's up?"

Lovell asked her as she turned to him; her eye's glittered in the starlight. He began to blush as she grabbed his hand. "I know that this is wrong to ask, but do you like me, Lovell?"

Lovell shocked at what she asked, "W-well I-I." he stumbled at the words as she leaned into him, kissing him, Lovell didn't resist as he cradled her body. Feeling it was wrong, Lovell pulled her away. "I'm sorry, but we can't Luna."

Luna turned away, blushing. "Is it because I'm the goddess?"

Lovell covered his mouth, "Yes, and no. It's more like we don't know each other, and it's a taboo thing to marry a god's reincarnation. It might have repercussions." His heart racing as he glanced at Luna.

Luna gasped her chest. "It is said theyans know when they find the one they act like an ordinary person would, around the opposite sex. I noticed when we met in Summerwind that you acted like you did when we are now."

Lovell pulled Luna in. "Sometimes we do, but we also sometimes never be with them because it's the right thing to do. No matter how much it might hurt on the inside." Luna began to cry as Lovell gripped her closer as tears flowed with her. Understanding that they could never be together no matter if they yearn for it. Lance called out to them that the food was ready they separated, acting if nothing happened as they headed back.

"So, what happened between you two?" Lance pocked at them.

Luna turned red, as Lovell coughed in embarrassment. "Nothing, if your concern, we've already dealt with it." Lance taunted but what was going on.

"A-anyway, we need to think about our next steps are. We need info on the seven generals." Luna was changing the subject.

Lovell grabbing a bowl of food as Fang closed his eyes. "Yes, that would be a good start, but I don't think anyone here knows anything, but there must be someone who does." Fang pointed out.

"Well, Grand Dale wouldn't know, but that elvish kingdom might. Though…" Lance suggested as he remembered how far it was. "That would take to long to get there."

They all started to think of a solution. "Why not we try Lua?"

They all looked at Lovell. "Whose Lau?" all of them said in unison.

Lovell put his empty bowl down. "The current leader of the Goanna Mercenaries. He has a knack for history; he might be our best bet, but…"

Zero rested his head on his knee. "But you don't know where they are?"

Lovell nodded as he pulled the map out. He noticed a village near their location. He remembered that Kana said she was going to a small village called Floralvail. "But I might know where to start looking for them."

They all turned to him, "Where at though?" Gale asked.

Lovell pointed at the map, enlarging the location, "Here, at Floralvail village a day's trip from our location. I think someone I knew lives here now."

Scarlet stood up, "so who is it that might live there?" She felt like they were getting somewhere.

"Lovell looked at them, "Kana, the Wind Rose. She left the group six years ago after—" Lovell remembering Morris's death.

Luna was seeing that something was bothering him, stood up. "Well, we have no other leads, so let's take it and leave in the morning."

Zephyr stood, "I agree; besides, it seems that some bad memory is hurting Lovell. It would be best we all not speak anymore as not to make things worse." She turned to Lovell, "Lovell, try not to overthink what happened and get some rest as well." She and Zero walked off to their tents.

Lance got up, "well it's late, I'm going as well, try and look on the bright side of things, Lovell." Turning to Gale, "You coming, Gale?" Gale got up as they walked away.

Luna got up, walking away to her tent, looking back at Lovell. Scarlet waved goodnight as she yawned. Leaving Lovell and Fang alone, Fang got up and sat beside him. "Is there something going on that I should know, Lovell?"

Lovell looked at his hands, "Fang, I don't know if I will become a leader that is expected of me being that out of the others, I'm the one of balance. And I couldn't ever do that."

Fang leaned in, "Well, no one's perfect besides, you and Luna, I saw what you two were doing, and you should know—"

Lovell closed his eye's "I already know and told her why, but still it hurts inside." Gripping his chest, "So much so that I can't breathe when we were alone." Fang leaned back as Lovell looked at him teary-eyed. "So, never let us be alone, just until I can suppress the feelings for her to do my duties."

Fang sighed, "That is hard to do, but I'm starting to think the dark lord wants something more now that she has lived this long."

Lovell looked at Fang. "Like what?"

Fang turned to Luna's tent. "Like taking her as his wife." Lovell whipped his head to her tent. "This is only a theory mind you so don't think about it. Just think of protecting her and stopping our grandfather's plans."

Fang walked to his tent, leaving Lovell alone, finally realizing that Levi was gone the whole time since he returned with Luna. Staring at the fire, Lovell sat quietly, trying not to overthink it all. "Having troubles, boy?" Lovell looked up to see a young girl roasting a marshmallow over the fire. "Don't worry about little old me," pulling it in seeing if it was done. "by the way names Alli, before you ask."

Lovell looked around, seeing everything standing still. "So, your Alli the ancient? Why are you here?"

She smiled, pointing the stick she was using at him. "To let you know that some things are better left alone than known at all, you will find out things you wished you never knew and things that missed your ears. Besides, are you sure you are all going to be ready for what lies ahead?"

Lovell looked at her. "We will be; we just need to understand each other and that it!"

Alli smiled as she placed the marshmallow to her lips. "Is that so?" Lovell stood up, as a log fell in the fire, the embers created a small vail over Alli as she vanished. "You will lose something you never knew was precious to you with that way of thinking, seventh." Lovell was looking around for her as time started to move once more, Alli's words echo through the trees. Lovell decided to put the fire out and head to bed, thinking he was exhausted from the day's ordeals.

Lovell woke to the smell of food and arguing over the food. He crawled out of his tent to food thrown at him in the face. Lovell growled as he walked over. "Enough already, I'm wearing breakfast thank to your arguing." Looking at Zero and Lance as they stopped. Scarlet sat down, huffing at them. "Look, we need to work together, or we all die. So, let us finish making breakfast and get ready; we leave an hour after we all eat." They all looked at each other, knowing Lovell was right.

Fang walked up, Lovell, "You alright?"

Lovell wiped the food off, looked at Fang, "Alli paid a visit last night as said something but nothing to worry about though." Fang watched as Lovell joined the others, worrying about what Alli had said to him.

As they finished packing, Zero watched as Fang walked up to him, "Watch Lovell from the back, something is wrong, and he won't tell me. If he tells you or any of the others, let me know." Zero nodded at him as they gathered.

They all made their way to the main road, then headed in the direction of Floralvail Village. Lovell leading the way as Fang, Gale and Zero watched him, knowing something was putting him off.
