6 Halfbreed

"What is so funny, Olivia? And besides, what do you even mean with me being a Halfbreed? -Oh my god- No, don't tell me I'm partly alien or something.. If so I'm definitely freak out this ti-" they both start laughing interrupting my sentence. I really need to freak out because all of this is way too much to process for me. So funny laughing at someone who doesn't know anything at all. Ha- ha..

After a moment Olivia says "No sweety, being a Halfbreed means that only one of your parents is or was a Psychic. And a-" I interrupt Olivia "Ugh! My brain hurts. You guys cant expect me to process all of this without knowing the basics. You're acting as if I already know a lot about this stuff. Start from the beginning or I'm not listening anymore." I say a little mad. Jacob comes closer to me and takes me from my shoulders leading me to the benches that are placed in front of the windows on the other hand of my room. We take place: Olivia sitting on the bench in front of us and Jacob and me are sitting in the same bench besides each other.

"So if we are going to do this, we have to take prohibitions so we won't get caught. Jessica, you already proved that you were able to hear us Telepathically back at the school corridors. So, what I'm asking from you is that you should just try to go in the in the same frequency with us. That way you'll able to hear us and communicate with us. It's not easy to explain, you have to feel it." Jacob continues. "So you guys weren't actually talking back there?" I ask quickly. "Nope." Olivia reacts. Rolling my eyes once again, I decide to close them.

Not knowing what I'm supposed to do I start imagining Jacob and Olivia sitting in front of me. We want to have a conversation, but can't because we aren't on the same frequency. I imagine a remote control that can switch frequencies. I know, really original.. Using this remote control I envision their frequencies above their heads and use their special codes to alter it to my mind with the remote control. After envisioning all of this I slowly open my eyes and try talking. "So, did it work already?" I question them, getting no answer back. "Great I suck at this.." I say while seeing them moving their mouths but not hearing anything. 'Did I actually block their voices or something?' I ask to myself with my inner voice. Olivia is bursting into laughter and Jacob is slightly giggling. "Wow, so mature.." I say feeling trolled. "Haha, I'm sorry sweetheart. We actually didn't think you would be able to pull it off from your first try. I'm impressed." Jacob says praising me. "Yeah, you are indeed a powerful Halfbreed, Jessie." Olivia says nonchalant. I roll my eyes again. I never knew she was such an annoying person. We never really talked or anything but she definitely didn't seem like a joker too.

"So first of all, because you are a Halfbreed, it's important to know which one of your parents was a Psychic. And whether he/she was also a Halfbreed or not. Have you noticed anything suspicious about one of your parents?" Jacob asks. "I don't think my mother has the same glowing blue eyes.. Or I would have noticed for sure. As for my father I can't say much. I'm told he died when I was still very young." I respond sadly. " We're sorry." Olivia condoles which I respond to with a simple "Thanks.". "Let's say that your father was a Psychic. He had the knowledge and power to block your powers till your 18th birthday. Which makes me think that he should be born from both Psychic parents. Being born from two Psychic parents gives you the privilege of being stronger than the Halfbreed's and sometimes even the privilege of having extra powers others don't." Jacob continues without even opening his mouth. So weird talking to someone without using your mouth or seeing them using it.

"But apparently you're an exception." Olivia annoyingly interrupts. "Why is that?" I ask. "Well, you have proven to be stronger than Jacob; a future Elite assistant." Olivia responds. "Okay, and what is The Elite exactly? I've heard you guys talking about it a several times now." I ask once again. "The Elite is a group of 5 or rarely 6 Psychic members which are full-breeds another word for having the privilege of being born from 2 Psychic parents . These members are incredibly powerful with special, cool powers you can't even imagine. Oh, and they are leading the Psychic's, deciding the rules, being our judge when we do something that we shouldn't have, etc." Jacob answers. "A monarchy, of course. In a world of power the most powerful rules.." I challenge them. "As bad as it sounds, I do think that it's required. How do you plan to control people with Psychic powers any differently? We people need to be scared of something in order to obey. For people with such powers to function without hurting others, it indeed is required." Olivia counters. She has a point, but I'm not going to tell her that. "Could be." I respond nonchalant.

"So, continue, Jacob." I try to change the subject. "Okay, so The Elite are the rulers and there also is The Elite Trainee's which are basically the followers of the current ones. And no, they do not necessarily have to be related to the current ones. But sometimes they are because our powers pass through our DNA. But anyone can be one of The Elite as long as they are strong enough. Except halfbreed's that is.. They are rarely stronger than the normal full-breeds, let aside an Elite member. " Jacob continues. "Hmm, no big deal." I say a little hurt. I don't have to be the best at everything, right? My reputation is good enough.. It's a good thing my parents don't know the existence of this whole world. "There also is a similar system for The Assistants which are assisting The Elite. Completing some tasks that he/she can handle without the Elite bothering. And I am an Assistant Trainee, as you see." Jacob says. "Oh yes, I can definitely see that. The ugly shoes right? I should have known.. Dang it!" I say foolishly which Olivia reacts on with a laughter. I follow her lead. "Really funny, Jessica. You should be more careful though, not every one of us is as kind as I am." Jacob protests arrogantly. "Mhmm, really kind." Olivia interrupts. I giggle for a short amount of time.

The fact that I didn't know my father already hurt me, but knowing he lived a whole other life.. Hurt hella more. "There also is a summer schooling academy for our kind that still have to learn developing their powers. Its called the Omnis Animorum Academy; basically meaning that it's not for normal people. We are also normal people, but our DNA is boosted. Thats another long story though, you'll learn it in the Omnis Animorum Academy once you attend it over 2 weeks." Jacob says. "Excuse me? Attending a summer school, me? I don't remember signing up for that.." I protest. "You'll have to or The Elite won't leave you alone now your powers have awakened. You'll also be a danger to yourself. And to be honest, it's not that bad. It could actually be fun, we'll be together reading books, attending classes, sharing a room; if you want it though.." Olivia persuades me. "A boarding school? No way, nah not going to happen. Besides, my parents wouldn't allow it anyway. I'll take care of myself. You can tell your Elite or something that I'll be just fine." I protest not wanting to go to that boarding school at summer time.. I waited a whole school year for this moment and I'm not going to ruin it.

"Do you really want to hurt the people you care about? More importantly, you could hurt yourself. Have you already forgotten what has happened earlier? Don't worry about your parents. We can talk to them if you wish?" Jacob responds. "Okay, you may have a point. I really was in a bad position. I'm not promising anything yet, but I'll think about it. I will have to talk to my mother and ask her permission, if it proceeds that far that is." I say sadly. "That's a deal" he says. I can see Olivia winking at me without Jacob noticing. Such a foolish girl, but I have a feeling we will get along.
