8 The most powerful Weapon

"A long time ago.

There existed the most powerful weapon on Earth.

Created by the Supreme Being himself,

and given to an ordinary man..."

3: 00 a.m. Egypt, about 1300 BCE.

The night was unusual. The sky was pitch-black! There was not a single star. Since the past seven hours, and the moon has completely hid herself.

There was chilling silence in the windless plains. Even the settlers in the land and the Nile river were all in slumber – as if all were under a spell. One cannot see any movement even from the nocturnes.

Hours ago, all the fishermen in the river have also returned to their homes. They decided to better sleep the night since there was no fish in the water. Not even a sign of their movements.

3: 01 a.m.

A fine white dot appeared in the sky. It punctured the vast black fabric of sky. At first, it looked like a little star breaking the total darkness with its faint light.

But no, it's not a star! It wasn't just twinkling. It was growing – slowly and gently. It was neither a meteorite nor a comet since it wasn't moving from its place.

Now, its true form was visible. It was a spiraling light! The tails were spreading out from the center in a whirling direction. It was not like anything that was seen before!

Now, it reached the size of a full moon. But the rate of increase of its size becane much slower. Yet something weirder was happening. A stream of light was flowing out like a white liquid from its center.

The light stream's length was increasing as it gradually moved in one direction – to the southeast. Moments later, it has reached halfway through the horizon.

Soon, the white substance reached the ground and entered the mouth of a cave. The size of its source, the spiral light, was now about twice as big as a supermoon. Seconds later, the entire cave was illuminated. It was so intense that the cave looked like a lamp shade from the outside.

4:50 a.m. Sinai Peninsula.

Somewhere outside Egypt.

A man woke up to do his daily routine. His wife was already awoke and was preparing the food to cook for breakfast. He came out from their tent, which was also their home.

Unlike the previous occasions, this morning was just beautiful.

He visited his flock to graze them in the mountains. The pasture was rich there. Along the way, there were more colorful birds greeting him than usual and they're singing beautiful songs.

They seem to have visited him purposely to enjoy the pleasant morning with him. Seeing them made him feel more refreshed and his heart and mind were calm and peaceful.

The sheep's behaviour were also unusual. They were more docile than ever. They quickly move together harmoniously towards the mountains. They didn't give him a headache today.

Apparently, all creatures were feeling pleasant today. Perhaps, due to the first-time-in-their-life complete rest that they have last night.

But when they reached the hills, there's one that suddenly left the flock. It's a lamb. It suddenly ran swiftly to the side of the road and climbed a hill. The man called it but it didn't heed.

The man pursued the lamb and followed it as it approached the mouth of a cave in the other side of the hill. When the man reached for the lamb he noticed that the cave was lighted inside.

When he looked inside, he saw a bush burning! The white fire was dancing around the leaves of the bush but it was not being consumed.

At first, he freaked out. But as he walked cautiously towards it, he can't help but be amazed. Before he started imagining what could this phenomenon be, he was startled by a voice!

"Moses..."

"Moses..." the gentle but clear voice called him by his name.

He looked around confused and terrified. Then something about the bush made him glanced back to it. Its leaves were falling. They looked like snow. Then the trunk moved!

"The movement was like that of a serpent!" he thought.

And he's not just imaging things. Soon, the trunk transformed fully into a serpent. Hissed..! the snake expanded its neck and locked its eyes on him. He heard the voice again,

"I have seen the oppression of the people in Egypt..." the voice said again.

"The god-breeding by the Egyptians have come to its worst. I have chosen you to end this abomination and to bring my salvation to your people."

"But who am I to fight the Egyptians? What can I do?" Moses replied.

"Put out your hand and take hold of the serpent."

Moses extended his arm towards the serpent, but to his surprised, the snake bit his hand and his arm immediately withered!

Suddenly, images flashed in his mind. He saw visions related to his mission and the truth about this world and the origin of gods that were dominating the humans. And all his doubts were removed. He did not withdraw his hand but reached the serpent and held it. Then the snake became a staff.

"Take the staff in your hand. With it you shall do wonders!

You shall smite Egypt's warriors and gods. Their heroes, you shall crush; and free all that have been enslaved by the Egyptians."

After this encounter, Moses quickly returned to his tent. He told these things to his wife, then he set out to the land of Egypt to free his people from their slavery. The people he once abandoned and wished to forget due to his cowardice.

With his staff, he fought against Egypt's eight powerful Generals – they were demi-gods – and subdued them one after another!

Then Berrus, Egypt's god of war, came to challenge Moses. A fierce battle commenced! But Moses summoned the fire of hell and it consumed Berrus and his underworld army.

Finally, their most powerful god, Ra, who once defeated Odin, the father of Thor, stepped in.

They exchanged blows that shook the whole planet. Ra's level of power was staggering. It was Moses' tenth and most difficult battle!

But in the end, Moses defeated Ra. After ten battles, Egypt finally fell. With his staff, Moses conquered all his enemies. And performed wonders never seen before!

The staff was indestructible and Moses was invincible! He freed his people from the most powerful empire on Earth. Something his enemies will never forget!

Near his death, the Ancient One commanded Moses to build the Ark of the Covenant and to put his staff inside it.[1] Soon, Moses died. But none was worthy enough to inherit the staff of God.

Some dared to touch the Ark but the heavens immediately struck them to death! Nations battled to take possession of the Ark, causing it to pass from one hand to another. Generations passed and everyone has forgotten what's inside the Ark.

Until the Ark itself was lost – forever!

"And that ends my story!" said the eleven years old Ato in front of his classmates and teacher.

His classmates were awestruck by the story they just heard. The teacher clapped his hands in amazement and instructed the class to do the same.

After the applause, the teacher asked Ato.

"So where did you get that story, Ato? What's your reference?"

"From my father!" Ato proudly replied.

His classmates chuckled. Ato looked at them confused.

"Are you sure about that, Ato?"

"Yes, Sir," Ato confirmed. "My father never lies!"

His fifth grade classmates laughed again. His teacher paused for a while. And Ato was embarrassed. This has happened many times before and this was what he feared the most.

"Ok..." the teacher called the attention of the class to him.

"The assignment I gave was for you to research for an alternative account of popular historical stories. So I was expecting that you'll give a reference." Ato bowed his head while his classmates chuckled.

"Nonetheless, of all the stories that I've heard today, Ato's story is the best one. Hence, I'll let him pass today and... also... I'd like to give him the highest rating."

The jaws of Ato's classmates dropped. Some of them looked at each other. Ato felt happy but he kept his feeling within him.

"So the ten plagues were ten battles," the teacher mused. "Interesting story!"

"Class, listen!" the teacher yelped.

"Well, yeah! There is indeed one object that is very powerful in this world.... The rod of Moses!

Many people believe that the story of Moses did really happened. And his staff is so powerful that he even divided the Red Sea with it. The story is actually quite interestin—"

The alarm buzzed! And the children disorganized.

"The three major religions believe in this story about Moses," the teacher continued his musing. "If I have to be honest to myself, I also actually believe this or, I suppose, I have... So where's the staff now? And what happened to the Ark?"

"Sir?" Ato startled his teacher. He didn't noticed Ato had already come to him.

"Yes, Ato?"

"My father also said that someday, at a time it is needed most, the staff will reveal itself to someone who's worthy to wield it."

The teacher's eyes widened at what he heard. He felt an electric current run through his body. As if something suddenly became imminently and significantly real. In an instant, the staff became real to him and that this thing was just somewhere in the corner waiting to be found.

He can't be mistaken at the candor and innocence of Ato's appearance while saying those words. He didn't believe in it, of course – at least, as far as he examines now his state of mind.

But aside from the fact that he's astounded by Ato's confidence of his father's words, what Ato said about the staff briefly struck him as a real news. That, for him, was really a weird feeling.
