8 Friendship Over

-CEDRIC-

All throughout my regular classes, I'm really having a hard time concentrating on my lessons as I think of the supernatural thing that happened in room 409 earlier.

No matter how much I tried to get it off in my head, even for just one freakin' minute, it's like it will be forever glued in my head.

Well, as if I'm so smart either to understand our lessons. Pffttt…

So if someone from our class has that... I don't know how to address it... magic, powers or what.... then it is most likely that all of us who were chosen to be part of Alpha Section have all that weird ability hidden within us.

I wonder what hidden supernatural power do I possess?

"Class dismissed."

In an instant, I snapped out of my thoughts the moment I heard that crooked voice of our last period teacher in History dismissing us earlier than usual. As he leaves the room, my classmates soon stand up from their seats and some have left the room as well.

I hastily put all of my things from my desk inside my bag and zipped it up as soon as I made sure that everything was already in. As I stood up from my seat, I slipped one strap around my right shoulder and made my way to the door.

The very first thing I saw as I went out of the classroom was a pile of students gathering around on my right. I didn't bother to look at the commotion since I already have an idea that it may be some immature students engaging in a fight.

I shrugged and started to take a few steps past these piles of students.

"You think you're so high and mighty just because you're an Alpha Student?!"

I immediately froze the moment I heard that very familiar raging voice of my best friend. Adrenaline soon kicked in again on my body system and I hurriedly went on the scene, pushing myself at the center of the fight.

"Of course. We all know here what section is the highest in ranking, not to mention.... most favored, right?"

And of course, I should have known who initiated all of this!

After I finally came past all of those students and made my way in the center, my hunch is actually right. My best friend is again engaged in trouble because of this air-headed jerk from my class.

"F*ck you asshole!" I knew Andrew's patience was already at its limit that I saw him now charging towards his nemesis with a fist that was ready to land on the jerk's face.

However, before his fist could land on my classmate's face, Warren successfully dodged the upcoming attack, making Andrew continue running until he reached the pile of students who were still gathered to witness this fight scene.

As Andrew turned again to look at him, I saw him planning to charge at him once more but that's when I finally entered the scene by blocking his way, making him stop all of a sudden and gave me a confused look.

"Cedric?"

"Stop this Andrew. I don't want you to get into serious trouble!" I somehow pleaded.

"Oh Cedric, good thing you're here. Why don't you tell your loser friend here that he is way out of our league?" I turned to look at the jerk as I heard him say those words with my forehead creased and my eyebrows drew together.

"Tell him that the only reason that he chose to stick by your side is because he wanted to be friends with an Alpha Student..." Then I saw the jerk smirking at me and my friend.

"... like he's some sort of a leech?"

"What the hell are you even saying--"

"So you're now officially friends with him huh, right Cedric? You are both f*cking joining forces against me?! Is this what it's all about? Huh?!" I was taken aback when Andrew swiftly held the collar of my uniform tightly.

"Answer me!"

His voice echoed 'till the end of the hallways like a roaring lion.

Just when I was about to explain my side, we heard that familiar screech from afar. The students who are somehow enjoying the scene right now fled as soon as they heard that familiar whistle, revealing the familiar hour-glass figure of the head of Student Affairs, Ms. Reyes.

This really feels like a de' ja vu.

"Stop this nonsense and follow me in my office, NOW!" Ms. Reyes glared to each one of us as she motions all of us to follow her to her office.

As she turns her back and leads the way, Andrew quickly lets go of my collar and takes his time to glare at both me and Warren here. Then he soon turned his back on us and started to follow the school official towards her office.

"Losers get easily agitated." I heard Warren spoke in a mocking tone.

I shook my head in disbelief before turning my back to him as well and started to follow Andrew going to Ms. Reyes' office.

***

A few minutes have only passed since we went here in Ms. Reyes' office, we saw Mr Cruz panting as he let himself in. He took his time first to catch his breath before turning to look at us.

"Mr. Cruz, I thought we already agreed that no Alpha Student will be involved in scandalous events such as this?" I turned to take a glimpse of Ms. Reyes who looks so disappointed right now.

"And now here we are again!"

"Apologies Ms. Reyes if it happened again. " Mr. Cruz sincerely apologized to the school official.

"That makes me now question your capabilities as a teacher on how you handle your students. So therefore, this time, I will be in-charge of handling your students."

The look on Mr. Cruz changed into a serious one upon hearing this from Ms. Reyes.

"With all due respect, ma'am, as far as I know, I was the only one assigned by the school director himself to handle Alpha Students... my students." Mr. Cruz said with full authority.

"So if you'll excuse me, I will get all of the students out of here and let's just forget what happened today."

Our adviser motioned for us to leave the office, and Warren was the one who shamelessly walked out of the office first. As me and Andrew both stood up from our seats, we heard again Ms. Reyes spoke.

"Wait."

Andrew and I stood there, frozen, as we turned around to face the admin once more.

"You may be in charge of your Alpha Students, but I'm still in charge of my students."

And without further adieu, Ms. Reyes motions for Andrew to go back to his seat again.

"Ms. Reyes, he has done nothing wrong so how could you--"

I was cut off by Mr. Cruz' hand stopped me from going near the school admin to defend my friend.

"Go out. Now." I heard Mr. Cruz instructed, more sternly this time.

I furiously went out of that room, with a heavy heart for leaving my best friend behind.

As I finally went outside, I could feel Mr. Cruz trailing behind my back so I swiftly turned to face him.

"Why didn't you let me defend my best friend back there?" I glared at my adviser as my jaw clenched, trying to suppress my anger.

"Because I don't want to make things worse for you and your friend." he calmly responded, which even annoyed me more.

"How could you say that?" I spitted these words out with so much hatred in it. "Still, you could have at least let me defend him. He's my best friend!"

He might not understand it anyway. Even how much I will explain it to him.

As I was about to turn my back on him once more, I saw him reach out something from his pocket, and afterwards a key appeared from his right hand.

"I'm sorry if it took me this long, but here's the key to your own dormitory room."

I swiftly grabbed the key out of his hand.

"Thanks." I said in a flat tone.

Then afterwards, I was finally able to turn my back on him and went straight ahead towards the dorm room that me and Andrew share.

***

As I entered our room, I mindlessly threw away my bag which safely landed on my bed, and sat on the carpeted floor.

At this point, I don't know how to mend things with Andrew because of this mess that Warren created between us.

Well, speaking of my best friend, I just saw him enter the room as well with the same pissed look on his face. It got worse when he spotted me sitting in a corner.

"Thanks to you and your friend, I got suspended for a week." he said while angrily throwing his bag at his bed and looked at me with so much hatred right now.

"Look, there's really a misunderstanding here---"

"You know what, I realized something back there..." Andrew cut me off and I saw him grimacing at me.

"Between us, you're the one that is more suited to be called a leech than I am. Since you like to stick your nose to someone whom you know you can benefit from, am I right?"

I angrily clenched my fist beside me as anger thrummed through my veins right this instant.

Without having second thoughts, I stood up and charged at my best friend, swiftly gripping at the collar of his uniform in an instant.

"What the f*ck did you just say?!"

"Why? You're getting angry since it's the truth?" Andrew said, unfazed by my reaction and is adding fuel to the fire.

"Because you've transferred in Alpha Section, you've suddenly realized that you don't need me anymore so therefore you're starting to befriend that asshole earlier! So therefore..."

His index finger is now mockingly pointing directly at me.

"You're. A. Leech."

If looks could kill, I'm sure he's been dead by now as I shoot him an icy stare.

"If that's what you think of me, despite of those years that we've been friends together, it is much better to f*cking stay away from me and don't you dare talk to me ever again!"

I furiously let go of his collar and started packing my things to get out of this cursed place.

After that, he really didn't bother to look at me again and acted as if I were invisible to him as he unbuttoned his uniform to change.

A few moments later, after I made sure that I've got all of the things I needed, I pulled the medium sized trolley bag behind me with my school bag placed at my back as I left this room without even bidding my farewell to my former roommate.

I guess starting from this day onward, we are both cutting ties with one another, thus ending our years of friendship in an instant.
