3 Chapter 2 Alpha, Beta, Delta, Omega

Wolves tore across the field. Pieces of grass and dirt flew into the air, speckling the ground. These wolves were obviously well trained, dangerous creatures.

I was in a horizontal position, a.k.a. flat on my ass. I was an average-trained, harmless creature.

The rogues clawed their way to me, bit by bit. When the leading wolf finally reached me, I was screaming from panic. I am going to die. It was fact.

The lead wolf paused in front of me and waited for the rest of its pack to group behind it. The rogues had finally finished spilling onto the premises; there must have been at least three hundred of them.

Three hundred rogues against my school of two hundred and me.

The rogue leader transformed into a naked human before his pack and me. He was such a giant personhe must have been the Alpha!

I attempted to shield my eyes from his body. It was uncomfortable to see a person so open about his stature.

He leaned down, and with one clawed hand, he forced me to look up at him. His green eyes glared down at me, daring me to try and stop him. State your name, rank, and pack. He commanded.

This put me off a bit. Why would he want me to state my name? Thats just weird. I thought rogues were supposed to take no prisoners and leave no survivors, not ask people their name.

I could understand his use for a rank, however. If he learned all our ranks, he could kill the strongest ones, the Alphas and betas, and leave the average or below-average ones, known as the deltas and omegas.

Delilah, I whispered shakily. Delilah Ann Moore, delta of the Furies. Why do you want to know?

I wanted to clamp my hand over my mouth. If the Alpha mistook that as a threat, I would be in for a serious beating.

The Alpha shook off my question without a care. He didnt look interested in me at all. Because, Delilah Ann Moore, delta of the Furies, I wanted to know. Are you really in a position to ask that? Dont answer, because I wont care what you say.

He turned his back to me and faced his menacing pack of rogues. Ok, guys, I want all these people out of their classes before the Alpha arrives. I want you all to know their names and ranks, and have them sorted by pack. If theyre from the Red Wind pack, put them on the left of the field. If theyre a member of the Furies, put them with Delilah. Got it?

The wolves shook their heads in understanding. Then, one by one, they transformed into their human forms.

I covered my eyes and pretended that I couldnt hear that speech echoing in my head. His plan frightened me, even though I didnt truly understand his plan. But the sentence that confused me the most was the one commenting on the Alpha.

Did this mean that this massive person, the size of any typical Alpha, was simply a beta? That was crazythis beta was the size of my Alpha, maybe even a bit bigger.

What are you doing? I dared to ask. Stupid, but I couldnt sit around not knowing what they were doing to my pack.

The betas eyes flickered to me. There was no light in his gaze. Were here to use you as bait. And when were done, well find something to do with you and take your territories.

Why? I was mentally slapping myself. Did I have a death wish?

The betas lips curved into an evil smile. His green eyes, blonde hair, and surfer looks contradicted his smile to endless extents.

One day, this land will be one hundred percent rogue. There will be freedom and equality for all weres. No weres will be abused or fit into derogatory terms like omega. To complete this plan, we rogues must have every territory. And since this school is a merge between your pack and Red Wind pack, this attack will knock out to birds with one stone.

I couldnt stop the curiosity from bubbling up inside of me. What about their Alpha? If there was equality for all, what about Alphas and betas?

I questioned cautiously, What about you and the Alpha? If there is equality for all, wont you become as average as the rest of us?

I sensed I had gone too far, as the beta growled at me. What about us? He snarled out. Were not going anywhere. It has been decided that complete anarchy would be disastrous, so the Alpha and I are going to stay in power. And were never going to be removed from power.

What about when you die? I challenged. Then who will rule?

The beta laughed coldly; I could almost feel my blood freezing in my veins. You think Id tell you our solution for that? No can do. Ive already revealed too much of our plan to you. And I cant have you spreading secrets around, can I?

His grin was deadly. I think Ill put you first on the death row. Im sure the Alpha will be delighted to know Ive picked his first victim. What do you say?

No! I protested, I wont die by your hands, or the hands of any rogue. Ill die when my time comes.

He chuckled an unpleasant laugh. You dont really have much of a choice, sweetheart.

The beta ended our conversation with a shout to a fellow rogue. Danny, He welcomed him warmly. How many do you have with you?

Danny trotted over to us carrying several classmates of mine. Nine, Beta. He grunted. All from the same class, too. They wont say their names or anything for me, so I think you might want to . . . give them encouragement?

The betas eyes gleamed darkly. If this were Christmas, Santa wouldve just handed him exactly what he wanted. No rogue was good and he was no exception to that belief.

The beta snatched a blonde girl from the nine. I recognized her instantly. She was Jenny Berlinski, an omega from the other pack. Omegas were the weakest of a pack; there was no way Jenny could even attempt to fight him.

He raised Jennys arm up for all of us to see. Then, ever so softly, he pressed his claw left claw against her wrist.

If nobody tells me who this girl is, I cut straight across her wrist. Ill make sure the hit her artery. Shell bleed out, just like you all will if you dont start talking.

Jenny Berlinski. Omega. Red Wind Pack. A boy spit out in disgust. He was in the group of nine, but unlike Jenny, I had no idea who he was. Probably a delta, since that was the most common rank.

The beta smiled at the boy. See, that wasnt so hard, was it? Now, if you can all follow his example, we can get along.

He tossed Jenny on the floor and motioned to a rogue that had been waiting around. Tyler, take Jenny to the side for the Red Wind members. Make sure to keep her separated from those who arent her rank. You wouldnt want to ruin the Alphas plan, would you?

Tyler gulped loudly. N-No, Beta Matthew. He grabbed Jenny and darted away.

For a second I felt bad for him. What happened to make him so skittish? He must have had a terrible background.

It was then that I remembered he was a rogue, and rogue equaled evil. His attitude was probably faked to earn him pity. It was probably some part of their plan.

After several minutes, rogues started gathering on the field. Each one dumped more students and teachers onto the field, until there were no more people to clean from the school.

Every single one went through the mini interrogation process and every single one was sorted out. When there were no more weres to sort through, I looked around.

Directly across from me were the deltas of Red Wind. On the right of them were the omegas, and to the left, the betas children and the Alphas children, respectively.

It was the same set up with my pack. The betas and Alphas children were to one side of me, and the omegas to the other side.

We were set so they could perfectly pick out the threats and the weaklings. For the first time ever, I was thankful I was a weakling. Chances were I wasnt as great of a target.

Well, The beta of the Rogues commented, That took positively forever. Anyone know where the Alpha is?

No rogue spoke up, and the beta took that as an opportunity to make another statement.

If Alpha Anton doesnt show up soon, we will have to start the plan without him. Anyone care to disagree? His eyes scanned the crowd, daring the crowd to stand against him. No one did.

A strange chill ran down my spine at the Alphas name. It was eerie; did everybody have this reaction to him? Did he really hold that much power?

By the time I finished pondering the amount of power this Alpha could truly have, Beta Matthew was done waiting. What had that been? A few seconds, maybe?

Tyler, Garrett, Dannygo get me the phone. Its time to threaten those Alphas. How strong are they when the children of their pack are held captive? Ill bet

The beta was cut off by another rogue. She ran onto the field slowly and was panting like a dog.

Beta Matthew, Alpha Anton has arrived. Hes coming over here just now. She said.

Beta Matthews eyes glazed over in anger. His mouth scrunched into a tight grimace.

The rogues watched the beta curiously. Those stares must have made him realize what he was doing, and quickly undid his mad expression.

Thats good. The beta muttered. He pushed his lips into a small smile. Let me go and greet him.

I moved my head so that my eyes were facing the ground. How could I be willing to see the Alpha that had disrupted my normal life?

I heard the beta murmur some welcoming words, before guiding the Alpha to the center of our field.

A delicious scent wafted to my nose, causing me to perk up the slightest bit. It was earthy, and I could detect a small amount of cinnamon within the smell.

The Alpha must have detected it, too, because he suddenly stopped shuffling and started looking around the field. He growled loudly, and his growling did not stop until his gaze settled on the group of deltas I was in.

He walked closer and closer to my group, each step taking him a few feet closer. The scent grew nearer too, though I didnt make the connection until it was too late.

Right before he had reached my crowd, my mating teachers words came to me. They were words I hadnt heard since my first lesson which was very long ago, but I could clearly hear them ringing through my head.

On our first lesson, she said, You will smell your mate before anything else.

And this smell that stood out so much to me . . . did that mean this Alpha was my mate?

The only way to be sure was to touch, and I couldnt stand the thought of touching this repulsive man. But it seemed I would have no choice, as the Alpha reached our circle with rather ease.

His dark eyes swept through our pile, and I tried my hardest to shrink back.

The Alpha was having none of that.

He grabbed me roughly and pulled me up to him. Tingles spread all across my body and I snapped my head to see his. Both dark, savage eyes peered into mine, and I knew exactly what I hadn’t wanted was happening.

Mine.
