1 Chapter 1 A new Beginning

In the month of April, in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, a pack of wolves were celebrating the birth of two, young, royal, wolves. One the son, the other the daughter. The daughter was born first, then the son. She was named Alpha, and he, Rocky. The lucky parents were Aspen, and Lark, the leaders of the pack. The two pups were different, Alpha, was when she was born, Rocky caught on later. Alpha had something that other wolves didn't understand. Courage, love, and bravery. Sadly after the two cubs were born, Aspen became terribly ill, and passed a month or so after they were born. Lark raised them up in the knowledge of battle, strength, and a little bit of hardship. The two cubs were growing every day, soon becoming as strong as their dad. Rocky likes to play, and roughhouse with the other wolves. While Alpha was being trained to one day lead, and watch over the pack. Rocky was a little jealous with how his dad was treating Alpha, but he soon got over it with all the fun he was facing.

One day in the Spring, the scout wolves came running to Lark and exclaimed, "Sir another pack is coming to challenge us. They have more wolves, which and most certainly will overpower us!"

"Ready our wolves, and get them ready for battle. We will certainly win if our pack is leveled headed and fights as one."

"Yes sir." They hurriedly left Lark as soon as they arrived. There were cries, and cheers in the distance from the uprooted pack. They were ready to fight. If any challenge came they would look it dead eye in the middle and give it a wink. While the pack was getting ready, Lark and his children were having a pep talk.

"You are stronger than you know, both of you. So fight like you never fought before Rocky!"

"Yes dad!"

"And you Alpha, don't be scared to give other wolves commands. It's good practice."

"So you're saying that I shouldn't fight?"

"No, I'm saying don't try so hard."

"Okay, Father."

"Now who's ready to kick some tail?"

"I am!"

"Yes Father."

They ran out of the old rock cave, and joined the other wolves in battle. The fight was gresome! Wolves dropping like flies, blood, agony, and terror. Lark was fighting by himself against five strong wolves. The wolves separated Lark from the rest of the pack. They cornered him, lept, and attacked. They were scratching him, till he gave his last fight. The main pack finished off the rest of the wolves. Fallen bodies, and blood were everywhere. The wolves ran to check on Lark, lying against a bolder, with blood drooling out of his body.

"Save...the...pack."

"I will dad," said Rocky.

"Please don't go."

"I'm sorry children, but I must. Alpha you know what to do. Rocky so do you. You knew this day would come. Stay strong for me."

"FATHER!!! NO!!"

"Ugh, give it up Alpha, he's gone."

"DO you not CARE?" asked Alpha between sobs.

"Well, yes and no. He won't come back. So give it up. I don't want the "leader" crying."

"Well everyone else is crying , why wont you?"

No response.

"WHY? Answer me!!"

"Because I didn't like dad, okay!? He always paid attention to you, and not me. So I was left scraping for food, and fighting so he would notice me."

"Well if you act like this maybe you should rule." Alpha mumbled.

"Maybe I should. With you gone no one else can stop me, and ruin my plans."

"What? That's not what I meant!"

"I know, but it's what I meant."

"You can't do this!"

"And what if I can?"

"Have you always been like this?"

"No, but for most of my life yes. No I will lead you to your ending. Then I can rule the wild!"

"It's not smart to tell your evil plan to me while I'm still alive."

"Oh no, you're not alive, not anymore."

They were backing off onto the edge of a cliff. A rocky one.

"NO, stop this! This isn't you!"

"Yes. It. Is." with a final step, and a loud, frightening snap, and growl. Alpha fell off the cliff, falling to her doom. When she landed she was broken, bloody, and bruised. Black clouded her vision as she heard a triumphant howl.
