19 nineteen

Naomi's POV

I was awoken from my sleep by a loud howl. I got up from the ground and observed my surroundings. There were tall trees surrounding me along with grass and dirt by my feet. I was definitely in a forest now.

How did I go dorm being on a bus, to being in a forest without being awoken.. was it Levi? Tears began to form in my eyes at the mere thought of him capturing me. Again.

Before I could process anymore thoughts a loud thumping nose came from behind me, it got louder and louder by the second and I flipped my head around to see what the commotion was.

It was a wolf! It was coming my way full speed! I gasped and began to try to scramble up onto my feet before it ran me over, but I was too slow, and it was too fast.

I shouted and closed my eyes, just hoping it would stop and spare my life.

But the creature kept running.. and nothing happened.

It ran right through me! I held onto my chest, trying to calm my worried heart and began panicking. Was I dead now? Did I have an accident on the bus and pass away?

The wolf stopped in it's tracks and averted it's gaze right towards me as if it could see me. If I was a ghost.. aren't I supposed to be invisible or something?

The wolf slowly approached me and proceeded to walk through me.. again. I huffed and said, "I don't understand it either buddy. How about you just go on about your day and leave me be."

The wolf spun around tilted its head to the side, almost as if he could hear me now. I crawled toward the wolf and attempted to touch it, failing as my hand went right through it once again.

"Can you hear me?"

The wolf spun in circles, it appeared to be trying to discover where my voice was coming from.

It growled and looked around one more time before running through me, again, and continuing to run until I couldn't see or hear it anymore.

I sighed and got up on my feet, I followed the direction the wolf went, hoping it would lead me to a town or just… anything or anyone I could use to help find out what's wrong with me.

"Here wolfie, wolfie, come out, come out wherever you are!" I yelled out into the forest, my voice echoing against the tall, green trees.

"Please?" I mumbled with desperation laced in my voice. It was silent for a minute, the only noise that could be heard was sticks breaking from my sneakers stepping on them.

Suddenly, there was one loud snap. I let out a small gasp and looked down.. that wasn't a stick. There were two more snaps heard after that.

I knew that sound all too well. It took me back to when I first saw Levi and the pack of wolves on mating day. They wolves stood in the forest and shifted, the loud snapping of their bones resided throughout the field and I and the other women shook in our heels.

That wasn't just a regular wolf… that was a werewolf!

More bone snaps were heard, they were getting faster and louder. I ran the other direction as fast as my little human legs could take me, I knew I could never outrun a werewolf but it was worth a try.

There was one last bone snap a elongated howl before once again, it was silent.

Where was that no good mate of mine when I actually need him to protect me?!

My head slightly recoiled and stopped and hid behind a tree, trying to catch my breath. I couldn't believe that in my possibly final moments of life I was thinking about the one man that practically ruined my entire life.

I brought my legs to my chest and wrapped my arms around them, sticking my head down. I tried to shift my mind to my parents. I really wanted to see them once more before anything happened… wether it was Levi taking me back to his pack or a random werwolf killing me.

Human footsteps began to get closer and closer to me and my mind shifted back to Levi once again. Anger filled my body. Why was I thinking about him right now?

My mark began to tingle again like it did on the bus. The footsteps stopped in front of me.

I lifted my head up to see the mutt. He had strong thighs and a tough stance. My eyes trailed up his fit body until I saw his face.

My heart completely dropped and I quickly stood up. It was Levi. He stared me down with no expression on his face. How could he see me? I thought I was invisible?

"How did you do it?" His husky voice asked.

Oh how I missed his voice.. I shook my head and backed up a bit.

"Do what? I have no idea what you're talking about?" My shaky voice replied. He tilted his head and reached for my face with his hand. To my surprise, it didn't fall through me. His rough fingers touched my cheek and peace spread through my body.

"You astral projected, my love. So, how did you do it?"

I had no idea what he was talking about. If I was being completely honest I stopped listening after he called me 'my love'.

I shook my head and gripped my hair with my hands. This has to be a dream. I fell asleep on the bus and this is all a dream. That's all.

"Is-is this a dream?" I questioned, on the brink of having a emotional break down.

He continued looking down at me and a slight smirk made it's way onto his face. He transferred his hands onto my waist and nodded.

"Yes. My Naomi this is a dream. Now, what do you want to happen in your dream?" He asked, his smirk still noticeable.

There were many options that I could do. I could beat him up, kick him where it hurts, run away, ask questions or completely tell him off.

I chose the stupidest idea of them all.

I took my arms and wrapped them around him, hugging him tightly and breathing in his earthy scent. The one that I will miss.

He sighed and rested his chin on my head.

"I will find you Naomi… and when I do I promise I will make things right. For you and for me. I will protect you, love for you and do anything you need me to do. We are equals, you hear me?"

A tear slipped out of my eyes and I quickly wiped it off and nodded. That did sound nice.
