First Shift

'We're finally reunited!' the wolf exclaimed.

'What's your name?' Safira asked.

'My name is Nymeria.'

Safira felt Nymeria's emotions like they were her own. Her wolf was eager to shift and so was she. Back in reality, a smile formed on her face.

Everyone knew what it meant. Moraina stepped forward to hold her hands again. She led Safira out of the rune circle and towards the window.

"The first shift is always the most important. Go."

Safira smiled. Looking at the open window, she stepped out of it without hesitation. While mid-air, Safira shifted into her wolf form for the first time. It was like getting into a second skin and it felt like second nature.

Nymeria was howling in her mind with joy as they landed on the grass. Though they had jumped from a height, they didn't take any fall damage. Safira caught onto a familiar scent.

She knew it was someone she knew, someone important to her.

'Mate!' Nymeria's voice chimed in their mind.
