27 Twenty-seven

Asher set down Roxy and Aaron and walked toward me; but not too close. He kept his distance, just in case I tried anything.

Looking into his eyes almost completely made me lose focus. Why was I here again? Oh! Right.

"I-I wanted to apologize for," I sighed, "for accusing you of-" he cut me off and pointed toward the group of kids standing there, confused.

Asher walked over to them and led them to the door. "Just give me and Madison a little time to talk okay?" They nodded and ran off into the hallway.

Asher closed the door and walked past me, leaning against his desk with his head tilted to the side, looking oh, so sexy.

He lifted his hand up and muttered, "continue."

I let out a deep breath and started again, "I wanted to apologize for accusing you of murdering my brother."

He hummed and we sat in silence. I nervously played with the end of my shirt and looked down at my feet, afraid to look him in the eyes.

"Is that all?" He spoke up intimidatingly. "Are you also not going to apologize for attempting to murder me? Or actually murdering one of my pack members." Anger filled his voice, this is not how I planned for this to go.

He stepped closer to me and said, "those few days you were gone, all I could think about was you, your hair, your smile, skin and lips. Everything. But while you were upstairs unconscious, it was the complete opposite."

He took another step closer to me and I could practically feel the anger radiating off of him. It was scaring the shit out of me.

"I thought about how awful you treated me. You didn't even care to give me a chance to explain myself. You didn't try to hear me out before you attempted to murder me on the spot, Madison!" He shouted, making me flinch. I lifted my head and hit my lip roughly.

"I'm sorry, okay? I know how you feel-" I said. He scoffed and rolled his eyes, "no, you actually don't know how I feel. And do you want to know why?"

He gripped my chin roughly and lifted my head so my eyes could meet his, "because you're not even my mate anymore." His words felt like daggers, they were laced with venom and meant to make me feel bad. I let go of my face almost as if he was disgusted by me.

Tears finally slip down my face and i squeeze my shirt in my hand tightly. "I'm so sorry, Asher."

"No, Madison, you don't get to cry. You don't get to feel sad. You were not the one who got rejected for no reason!" He growled and gripped his hair with his hands. He turnt his back to me. I walked toward him and hugged him from behind, resting my head on his muscular back. "Please, Asher. Please let me fix this. Let me fix us. I love y-"

"Get out." He emotionlessly said.

"What?"

"I said get out. I don't want you in here with me. The nurse and Isabel are looking for you. Go."

I limped back from him and nodded sadly, leaving the room. Although I feel like giving up, I'm not. I love Asher and I always will. Mated or not, I still feel the connection between us which means he does too. There's a spark there and I'm not letting it die just because he put his walls up.

A woman in a doctors outfit turned around the corner and sighed before rushing toward me.

"I figure you're my nurse?" I nervously spoke.

"You're not supposed to be walking right now, Madison! You're hurt. Very badly and you need to stay in bed and sleep, so you can regain your energy for the big meeting next week!"

I furrowed my eyebrows and looked down at her, "what big meeting are you talking about?"

She crossed her arms and then began to drag me to the room, "the big meeting with all the alphas in the area you know? They come with their Luna's, talk about rogues and other boring things for about three days and then they go back home."

I raised my eyes in surprise, I had remembered hearing about some of the yearly meetings back at my old home.

"I have to go to that?" I asked.

"Well you're Luna are you not?" She replied.

"Well i-"

"And Asher is a alpha is he not?"

"I mean-"

"You're going. You're rightfully supposed to be at his side." She proudly stated with a smile on her face.

My eyes widened and I turnt to her, "does this mean the alpha of the Shadow Crescent pack will be there?"

I stopped in her tracks to think for a second before saying, "oh! Yes, Alpha Levi. Yes he certainly will! Why?"

"No particular reason." I mumbled. She hummed and nodded, "well yes, he will be there. He recently found his mate too, did you know?" She asked. I shook my head and spoke, "that's good. I'm happy for him."

She chuckled and said, "don't be too happy, from what I've heard she seems like one badass little Luna. She ran away. Twice! I wonder if they ever caught her." She hummed again and we finally reached the room. She opened the door for me and helped me make myself comfortable in the bed again.

"So, why'd she run away from her mate? He can't be that bad, right?" I curiously asked. The nurse shrugged, "who knows. Humans are weird creatures."

I laughed with her and we talked for a little longer before I began to get sleepy. "Now. Stay." She pointed her finger at me. "Or else." She threatened and then left the room.

No problem with that.

I rested my head comfortably on the pillow and closed my eyes. I heard someone walk into the room and place a soft kiss on my forehead but, I was too tired and weak to even open my eyes and soon enough, I drifted into a deep sleep.
