6 The Mistake

"What about your wife? Isn't she working?"

The sore topic. His Wife.

To hide her emotions, Sky looked down and continued asking, "What about your brother? And the supermarket which your parents had?"

Andy sipped water and smoothly buried his emotions. He looked towards her "Sky, nothing is the same as before." His words were laced with despair.

Anybody can see how much he hated his current life.

He used to be the definition of jolly, positiveness, playfulness, egoistic, and self-obsessed. But now he is contrasting with his past self.

There was a knock on the office door, Sky responded with "Enter."

An HR executive who was in his late thirties and Assistant Lily entered the office. Both greeted Sky "Ms. Sky." But their eyes were twitching to look at the man across from her.

Sky came to the point, "Is there a vacancy in the HR department?"

The executive answered her, "No Miss. Right now we don't have any vacancies in our department."

Sky considered appointing Andy to any one of the subsidiary companies. His qualification wasn't suited for any of the jobs she could offer.

"Which post will suit him better? He is a Master's degree graduate." Sky asked as she pointed her hand at Andy.

The HR executive stated the fact, "Sorry Miss, we have only a few vacancies which we have already submitted to you."

Assistant Lily interjected him and suggested to Sky, "Ms. Sky, why don't we demote or fire one and appoint sir to that post?" She thought the man was somebody close to Sky.

Sky glared at her assistant who had the audacity to suggest something like that. Her cold tone sounded in the room, "Is it your first day in the office? Do you want to quit the job? Or shall I help you by firing?"

Assistant Lily shuddered. She lowered her head and apologized, "I'm sorry Ms.Sky, I'll not repeat the same mistake."

She wasn't going to break her ethics and morals for Andy. She enlightened her assistant so that she knows her mistake and learns from it.

"We have already filtered many employees who were slacking at their job and appointed new ones who are working well. It'll be unfair to demote or fire anybody. We should have moral values. I'll not tolerate this type of idea."

Andy who was sitting quietly, was dumbfounded by Sky's reaction and unawarely sat up straight. He didn't dare to make any noise.

Assistant Lily was on the verge of tears without knowing what to do.

To ease the tension in the office, the HR executive tried to flatter the CEO, "You are perfectly right, Miss. Sky. We should have high moral values. If you don't mind, I would like to give you a bold suggestion."

Sky looked at the man. Does she have to fire someone today? She dared the man if he had the nerve to suggest something odd, "Go ahead."

When Lily and the executive were coming, he heard from the latter that the CEO was very friendly with the person, hence he made a decision to suggest.

With an anxious tone, "Miss. Sky, you have worked hard for the welfare of the company without taking a rest till today but you don't have a secretary and if you have one it'll also lower your burden. So.. So why don't you consider that position?"

Assistant Lily was scared out of her wits. The executive and Lily both knew that the CEO doesn't like a PA or secretary and she liked to do her work on her own.

Sky doesn't have a driver because she doesn't trust anybody's driving skill even though her driving skill was only average.

Lily squeezed her eyes and held her breath, preparing herself to hear Sky admonish the man.
