7 Her Driver

Sky was mulling over the position which the HR executive said. Yes, she never liked to appoint a secretary. She liked her space.

The office was silent for a long time, Andy looked at her aloof face. It reminded him of her petite face smiling all the time around him. Pouting and making silly faces when she was angry. He wished he could see her like that again.

'Do I even deserve her as a mere acquaintance?' He mocked himself for ignoring her just because a new person came into his life.

Hearing no response from the CEO, Lily, and the executive were more anxious than their exam results day.

The executive thought that the CEO was angry and might fire him. Hence he started to apologize.

But he couldn't conceal the anxiousness and stuttered, "I'm sorry, Miss. Sky, I will not give any wrong suggestions next time. Since you don't have a secretary and driver, I thought since this gentleman is close to...."

Sky shot him a look of daggers before he completed his words. The executive started to shiver and prepared himself for the consequences.

Andy noticed the uneasiness and overbearing air around Sky. He glanced towards the executive, "Sky, he said you don't have a driver, I can be your driver."

Sky snapped at him, "It doesn't suit your qualifications."

Andy insisted, "Forget that I have any such qualifications. I will be happy with the job. Just like in the past, I'll drive you wherever you have to go."

His last remarks made Lily and the Executive look at each other in surprise. Did they just get to know about Sky?

Sky clenched her fist. The past was a taboo, much less speaking about it. Holding her patience to help him, she composed quickly.

Sky shook her head, "How about being my secretary? You can learn about your work from Assistant Lily." She moved her chin to point at Lily.

Lily took the chance to redeem herself. She spoke courteously, "Yes, mister. I'll help you with the work."

The office door jolted open. A sixty-something-year-old man in a blue suit with pepper hair entered the room, holding a stick for his balance.

He had the imperious presence of the king. That makes people stand and give respect.

Lily and the executive greeted him in unison, "Hello, Chairman Harley."

Sky stood up with a pleasant surprise on her face, "Dad." She went towards David Harley, "Why don't I know that you are coming back today?" Her smile didn't last long.

David brushed past Sky and ignored her question, "What is he doing here? Who allowed him here?" He shouted furiously, glaring at Andy.

Sky's face turned sour. Andy bowed to David and stayed quiet.

Assistant Lily answered the chairman, "Chairman Harley, he came looking for Ms.Sky for the job. As per the executive's suggestion, Ms.Sky offered him a secretary position."

Lily was personally appointed by Chairman Harley. She was loyal to the company and she was reporting the progress of work to the chairman whenever the latter asked. The reporting also included his daughter's things.

For unknown reasons, Sky was unhappy with Lily's response and snapped at the executive and the assistant to leave, "Both of you, out."

Those two can only leave the room after bowing to David and Sky.
