Ok; 14 chapters in so time for a review. Ash is one of my favorite authors on this platform and her new book… even though only 14 chapters in has already taken me through to feel all the range of emotions. A mother’s pure love, tenderness, rage, sorrow, the kindness of strangers, safety… I am loving Eve’s incredibly strong character and look forward to what Is in store for her. She is not a lead that will be pushed around! Ash has a way of telling a story with such detail that you feel a part of the story. If you have never read her work before, this looks like a great place to start. I’d highly recommend any of her other books as well.

Ash is literally the BEST author on this platform (IMO). I’ve literally read all her books, and her incredible story telling is consistant. I’m in love with all her characters. In most female-protagonist novels, the male leads essentially have no character or basically have the generic male lead aesthetics (good looking, rich, ‘cold’, smart, etc) and are just there to make the female lead look good and for others to be jealous of her 🙄It’s like they are basically copied and pasted from one story to another. Ash brings her characters to life (even the side characters) in a way that makes sense. Even the characters with ridiculous personalities, you understand why they are the way they are 😂 I have fallen in love with all Ash’s male-leads. I still can’t decide between Leo, Nick, or Damien and suddenly Vince is brought into the picture 😍😩 And the Chemistry between the leads is OTHER WORLDLY 🔥🔥🔥 with so much depth (soul level).No superficial attraction, no unnecessary lust/physical attraction that other authors use to convince you about love development. Not to forget the most unique plots and world design, Ash is definitely a seasoned writer that very few on this platform can match.
I find myself refreshing for updates every other hour!!! And i cant get Vincent off my mind. Omg. I think im addicted. Curious about this book bcos it is ranked no1! I was used to hot sexy scenes frm other authors, thats y i couldnt get used to this at first. But it is definitely a slow burn book. And it just gets more & more intense, making your heart thumb louder than any other intimate scene. Now im officially an addict 😝
So after reading the synopsis and its chapters, Ash made this new masterpiece and took all of my diamonds. 💎😌 She takes this novel to another level of superiority. Once you start reading it, you will never leave this world. 📖 Genevieve Barlow (FL). I love her and the purple umbrella.🌂 She has a heart of bravery and kindness, polite and well-mannered. She can handle certained situations independently as well as being a Governess, but not everything that she can't do some things alone. Her lovely spirit and quirkiness is something that needs to protect from harm. However, the mermaid is already in a risky situation~ Vincent Moriarty (ML). Oh my sweet macaroni and potatoes. He is like the reincarnation of a Devil disguise as an Angel. This MAN is not whom you think expectedly like other MLS and doesn't let readers breathe or hold on to their hormones. Everytime I read his character, his words is so hysterically hilarious that I dropped my precious bowl of salad. 🥗😂💀 My talentful author, Ash, who is the Goddess of Vampires and the Queen of Fantasy created this novel. Using her magic ingredients; Bottles of plots and twists, sweet and spices of romance, baking crumbs of mystery, food-coloring of souls and gore, adding liquors of reader's tears, combining the devil's wine with holy water, and finally mix it by using a knife. *chef's kiss* Perfetta! 😙👌🏻 Aesthetic made by me:
All 9 chapters devoured and I liked the solid start of the book what not only has uncommonly used supernatural being but also promises to be eventful, full of unpredicted twists and most likely love interests who will have to swim against the society's stream to have their happy ride into the sunset. Can't wait to read more!
Now that WSA22 is over, I’m posting the Reader Review I submitted as part of the award consideration: Allure of the Night is a story about one of the lesser explored supernatural creatures--mermaids. When there are so many vampire/werewolf fantasy romance novels available, a mermaid main character is a fresh new addition, making it a standout novel in a saturated genre. That said, fans of the genre and the author will appreciate familiar elements. I can see readers (myself included) becoming immersed in the characters and invested in their relationship. For the solid writing, the characters, creativity and for the great potential, I would highly recommend this novel. Grammar and Language The writing is well balanced to be both narrative and descriptive in a way that keeps the story moving forward. Most of the text focuses on dialogue, thoughts and impressions, which help the reader feel more connected to the main characters. Gestures are noted to help visualize the characters' actions and to cue readers in on potential motives and intentions. The author also does a very good job of keeping these gestures varied so they do not feel repetitious. Detailed (but concise) descriptions of scenes and appearances are used to emphasize differences such as social status, or to highlight distinguishing features so a character will be more easily recognized. The author has an excellent command of the language, uses a well rounded vocabulary accurately, and varies her sentence structures. There were very few spelling or grammar errors, and when these rare errors occurred, they were isolated, did not interrupt the flow of the story and were not overly distracting. Character Design From the opening chapters, it's clear the lead female character, Genevieve (Eve) Barlow, has mysteries that even she does not understand. As a child, she is depicted as innocent, kind, vulnerable, and naive of the dangerous creatures in the world around her and the threat they pose to her life. It's during her childhood that she first encounters the male lead, a young social elite, Vincent Moriarty, where he discovers her carefully guarded secret--she is a rare mermaid, "a vault of treasures"--a secret he also chooses to protect for the time being. As a young woman, Eve becomes enthusiastic and confident, though prone to catastrophe. She is determined to become a governess and live a better life, and it's while pursuing this goal that she again crosses paths with Vincent as he becomes her employer. She finds him rude and shameless, but working in the Moriarty mansion allows her to pursue her primary objective: to discover what happened to her mother and seek justice for her death. Vincent's goals are less defined early in the story. As a youth and as an adult, he maintains an air of superiority and disdain for the lower classes, which only adds to the readers' curiosity about his motives regarding the female lead, whom he clearly enjoys taunting but also protects. A variety of interesting side characters are introduced to enhance the story; some add humor and will be supports for the main characters, and others will clearly cause danger and conflict. World Building The novel has a historical setting reminiscent of the Victorian or Regency era, which will feel familiar to fans of this genre. As of the early chapters, no unusual technologies are present that conflict with this setting; however, mythical beings with supernatural powers and abilities exist. There is a clearly defined social structure based on status and "kind," suggesting that most of the predatory "creatures of the night" are mingled into the nobility, though they hide their true identities. The towns where the story unfolds are also separated by status; Meadow Town, where Eve and her aunt reside, consists mostly of lower-class commoners; Skellington is where the social elite, including the Moriartys, have mansions and manors. Subtle descriptions in the text highlight these differences. Society has some misogynistic attitudes; for instance, at times Eve is pressured to forego a career to instead marry and let someone else care for her needs, which does not appeal to the independent female lead. Readers do not know much about the world's history except that mermaids have been hunted to near extinction, and goods harvested from their bodies are highly sought treasures. It feels as though the world contains more secrets that will be revealed as the plot unfolds. Story Development and Creativity The story naturally develops as the characters shift from childhood to adulthood. Events in Eve's childhood are what drive the story onward. Early chapters introduced both main characters to the readers and to each other, which sets the groundwork and gives a plausible reason why Vincent would be interested in Eve when they meet again. This is not a love at first sight story, rather the first meeting generated curiosity and--because he learned her secret--suspense. Additionally, her mother's murder and need for closure explain why Eve chooses to accept the governess position in the Moriarty mansion despite her dislike for Vincent. These two founding events are what ultimately bring the two main characters together again. This is a fantasy romance novel, and it's clear the female and male leads will form the main romantic relationship in the novel--eventually. Each chapter progresses the plot without filler content, but the author teases readers along as the story continues. The initial twenty chapters barely scratch the surface of this relationship, but the hook is set. Their different personalities, hidden identities and the inherent dangers of the society wherein the couple live all promise to keep readers engaged and eagerly anticipating more as this slow-burn romance unfolds.
New book with new creatures... it's going to be adventurous.. Ash's all the books are amazing and this one is also going to blow up our mind...The title itself is exciting. I like all the characters of this book till now. I like Vincent's remarks and his sense of humour 😂😂 and Eve too is strong character.. The story is building now and I am excited to read what will come next..... As Ash never fails to amuse us....❤️❤️❤️
I don’t even need to finish the book to know it’s going to be great. Ash’s books are always well written, let’s you go through all emotions, unpredictable and guaranteed to love the ml and fl. The FL in this book is no exception shes wonderful! Smart, witty, adorable and strong. ML is a mystery right now but knowing Ash’s ML he’ll def have you swooning. As for the plot the synopsis alone will def have you hooked. You def won’t be disappointed.
Ash, once again has nailed it with this book! I have a couple of authors who I am pretty devoted to reading all that they put out but Ash is definitely my #1! I have loved everything I have read of hers and will gladly continue to support her works. Allure of The Night has taken us on such a ride of emotions and situations so far and it is only getting better and better by the day 🥰 The ML and FL are both strong and independent yet find themselves solely needing and depending on each other more and more as the story progresses. This is probably the slowest burn I have read yet, but in such a good way. We are all pining for these two to finally give in to their feelings and be together and it will be pure magic when they do 😍 Our dear author is a master at writing about vampires and other creatures, and now mermaids can be added to her list of expertise 😉 I can’t wait to see what the rest of this story has in store for us and all that Ash will do as a writer in the future 💕💕💕
The greatest things about this book has high-quality developments.The characters, plots, and our favorite supernatural beings such as vampires, werewolves, but adding to a new addition of mermaids were all coexisting together is another new form of unexpected romance, fantasy, dark and magic. 💎📖 Through 100s of chapter milestone, let's just say this is a perfect time to binge read for readers who are looking for a story to remember~ 🤍😌
Another masterpiece of our Ash starting this new journey for the conquest. The great, impeccable, and immensely brilliant work you do in every masterpiece that you've done has and had brought out and will always bring the unprecedented firsts in experiencing those undescribable plethora of emotions that you are always capable of drawing out from your readers. There are still more and more to look forward to in this mesmerising tale of mystery and intrigue; with our MC's development and the first dynamics to be seen with the main ML'S character. Even the background setting undoubtedly would make this turn out incredibly breathtaking. As the main characters' growth gets progressive; surely our Ash's creative writing abilities would come flowing through and forth within as we tread in reading. I have already set myself to join in in this new journey to embark with Ash up until another next journey will commence once again. 💙💙💙
