2 Chapter 1, Blessing of the Void

"Hey, are you okay?" A girl's voice. I sat up, rubbing my eyes, to see her in front of me, looking amused. Where am I, I thought to myself? Looking around, I found myself in a courtyard of sorts, in the middle of a Magic Circle. Magic Circle, I thought. Right! This was my new school, Seidrkeld. Which means… Oh no. I looked up at the girl slowly, grimacing, realizing that I now looked like a bumbling idiot.

"You are a Candidate, right?" She said, laughing. I could only imagine what she thought of me then.

"Y-yes. I am." I said, blushing. I looked stupid, but on top of that, I was poor, low rank, and could barely defend myself. In front of a girl, and a gorgeous upperclassman at that! She was tall, with blonde hair, porcelain skin and piercing, crystal blue eyes. Her face was very matured, and she looked to be about 18 or 19.

"Hi. I'm Elena Bordeaux, in the Student Council. Are you a freshman?" She said, kindly smiling down at me. She was nice and friendly, the kind of girl who would try to befriend the whole school.

"Yeah!" I grinned back. "My name is Sorren Steele."

"Nice! Well, the entrance ceremony is in the main stadium, It's the biggest dome, you can't miss it."

"Thanks, Elena, I really appreciate it."

"Bye Sorren, I hope to see you around! Oh, and say hi to Gail for me!" Gail? I turned around, but she was gone. Whatever, I thought to myself. I headed off to the stadium, grinning. I had to make it there!

When I got there, I first looked around. I was in a large, domed Colosseum, several stories high. In the center was a small, wooden stage, with several hundred chairs in front of it. Most of them were already filled with people. I sat in the last row, at the very end. As the last people trickled in, A short, handsome boy with a very pretty, girlish face sat next to me. He wore our boys uniform- a common mage's outfit in black and white- A tight black shirt with a large "Mages Shawl" a white piece of fabric connected at the neck with a brooch going down to the stomach, complete with a hood, which he wore, supposedly using it to pull his blonde hair back. He also wore a large, thick belt and black pants, the belt complete with a multitude of pouches and a large buckle.

It seemed he was constantly grumpy, for he constantly had his arms crossed, with a funny little pout on his face. As the opening speech started, he turned to face me.

"Wake me up when this is over," he, no, she, said. Her voice was high and crystal clear, with no doubt to her gender. She sat back and heer hood fell, revealing long, golden locks. She was beautiful, with porcelain skin and piercing, crystal blue eyes. Her face was young, and she looked almost like an anime character, like from old Japanese shows. Her arms dropped from their position, revealing her feminine figure, and I stopped and stared. She was easily the most beautiful girl I had ever seen.

"O-okay then." I turned to face the front, tuning in.

"- have come to welcome you incoming students to this fine institution. I, your headmistress have a few announcements to make. This year, Nidevellir has gifted us magical items allowing us to become stronger. See, as we fight monsters, the mist of the Void, Ginnungagap, releases Akashi- a well sought after power in Nidavellir. The items, in the form of silver bracelets, catch such power and briefly connects our souls to the Akashic Records, giving us the ability to learn magic and skills quickly, like skill trees in a video game. This year, every student will be given these bracelets, in exchange for exterminating monsters in the Dungeon- an enormous tower filled with monsters, traps, puzzles, items, and vast power, for those who clear it. There are 9 in that world, and we are expected to clear each of them. And that's all! We look forward to a great year with you all! Now if you would head to your classes…"

I headed to my classroom, Class 1-F, and sat in the very back there as well. My plan was to blend in, but it looked like that was going to be a problem. On the board was written "Introduction Day" in large letters. Great. The classroom was built like a lecture hall, so I was the highest up, and near the window. I just sat and stared out of it, at the city below. I was in the world Midgard, in the capital city of the Kingdom of Eraliand, and right next to the palace. I was so high up that I could see over the walls into the palace gardens! The pool and nature there looked heavenly. I would kill to live there.

"Hey, dude. Can I sit here?" It was the girl from before. I gasped, flustered.

"Uh, yeah, sure, I guess." I resumed my deep stare into the world below, but stole glances at the girl next to me. She truly was strange, wearing the boy's uniform. I wonder what the reason was. Was she really just a boy?

"Hey, you're a girl, right?" I grimaced as soon as the words left my mouth. That was rude, especially if she was actually a boy! She snorted.

"Yeah. The hair and the breasts didn't clue you in?" She looked at me, laughing. "You're funny, dude. I'm Gail Bordeaux. What's your name?"

"Uh, yeah. I'm Sorren Steele. A pleasure." I looked at her again, still confused. "Is there a reason you're wearing the wrong uniform?"

"Sure," she bluntly stated. "I don't like the other one. Skirts are not my thing, and hard to move around in. I like pants much better."

"Alright then." This was a strange girl, unlike any I'd ever met. Although she reminded me of someone, vaguely. "Hey, I just remembered. Do you know Elena?"

"Yeah, she's my sister. Have you met her?"

"Yeah." How could two people of the same blood be so different? Just as I was thinking this, the professor walked in. He was a tall elf, and good looking by all standards.

"Hello, class. My name is Cynd Anioril, and I am your professor. Fortunately for you, I will be assigning dorm rooms and parties, as well as passing out your Shic Bracelets. As a matter of fact…"

He took out a large basket of silver bracelets and passed them out. They looked heavy, but when I picked mine up, It felt like it wasn't even there! It was completely weightless. I slipped it on, and I felt a prick as something went into my wrist, though it didn't hurt. The bracelet then disappeared, and when I touched where it was, I felt nothing but my own wrist. Suddenly, I heard this-

(Level One Allfather Candidate Sorren Steele accepts position. Initiating walkthrough. For Inventory, say "Inventory." For Status Screen, say "Status." If you have a question about the Worlds, say "Question," and after the beep say the question. To activate existing skills, say the skill name. Initializing body reinforcement.)

As I heard "Initializing body reinforcement," My body became enveloped in pain. My energy, or "Mana" was forcibly multiplying. Suddenly, all the pain in my body stopped. Every bit. All of my cuts and bruises instantly healed. My muscles became reinforced with mana, and my skin hardened, while being visibly the same.

"Uh, Inventory." As soon as the words left my mouth, a translucent window appeared in front of my eyes. It was long in height and short in width. There were 10 fist-sized spaces next to each other. There was nothing above or below them, so it was 1×10.

"Woah," I said. This was crazy. I picked up a pencil I had in my bag and put it in one of the spaces. As I did so, The pencil went in as though there was a pocket in space there, and didn't come out the other end. In the space there floated a pencil icon. I stuck my hand inside and pulled out the pencil. It was just as it was when I left it. Truly like a video game! I got excited. "Status." It was the same as before. A translucent window suddenly appeared before my eyes. The only difference was that this one had only words on it. It read as such:

{Name: Sorren Steele

Race: Human

Sex: Male

Class: Allfather Candidate

Title: Chosen Of The Void

Level: 1

HP- 500/500 MP- 200

Strength- 10

Dexterity- 10

Constitution- 10

Magic- 30

Charm- 7

Luck: 10

Skill- Blessing of The Void- (Passive)}

I clicked on the skill, "Blessing of The Void" and the screen changed. It now read this-

Blessing of The Void- Passive Skill

Given to the Candidate Blessed with the power of the void. With this skill, the Akashic Records are under your command, and you may learn any or all of the skills of those you defeat. Not only that, but by focusing on any item or monster, you can read it's stats without using an Akashic Appraisal Scroll. (Skill Rank: Deific)

Woah. Deific? That's… insane. I closed the windows and looked to the front. Now, above the Professor's head read this:

<The Professor>

Cynd Anioril, Level 59

HP: 50,000/50,000 MP- 4,305/4,305

He caught my stare, and narrowed his eyes. Looking at me all the while, he headed up to where I sat. When he got there, he asked:

"Mr. Steele, what god were you Blessed by?" I stopped breathing. Whatever hopes I had of staying under the radar quickly flew away with my breath. I felt like he had sucker-punched me in the gut.

"Um, about that sir… it says my Blessing is Void." I showed him my Blessed Circle, a magic circle on the back of my hands surrounded by runes. The runes read "Allfather of - Ginninuguap" Allfather of… Void. Nothing.

"Hmm. Well despite that, you are our classes strongest, seconded only by Mr. Bordeaux there. You two will be roommates." Just then the bell rang. He handed us our keys, and walked away before I could protest. Gail then turned to me

"As long as you don't try anything, that's fine with me. Come on," she said. I felt as though I was being dragged as I reluctantly followed her to the dorms.
