8 What happened??

Tears fell like a river from Gu Chunhu's eyes. Without another word she stood up and ran out. Wen Jiao followed her.

Li Lixin and her cousin were left behind confused. After settling the bill, they bid goodbye.

Both of them felt sad as they couldn't sit down and chat for long but as they saw Gu Chunhua's reaction they knew that something serious was up.

Li Lixin took takeaway boxes of food for three of them. She knocked on the door. Wen Jiao opened the door.

"what happened?" Li Lixin asked her in whispers.

"I don't know." the reply came in whispers

"she has already cried out her eyes. She has not even spoken a word since we got back here"

Li Lixin placed the takeaway boxes on the table and went near Gu Chunhua. She placed her hand on her shoulder.

Gu Chunhua turned around. Her face was pale and wet from the continuous flow of tears, both eyes and nose red and her lips were shivering.

This was not the Gu Chunhua they knew. She was a happy-go-lucky girl always smiling and full of energy. But the one in front of them was the complete opposite. A vulnerable and emotional girl.

Gu Chunhua wrapped her hands around Li Lixin and cried even more pity fully.

Li Lixin was really taken aback. But she regained her composure and patted Gu Chunhua assuring her that she was not alone. But it had no effect and made her cry even more.

Wen Jiao too joined in. The trio sat together, hugging each other. They could feel the warmth of each other's hearts.

After a while, Gu Chunhua suddenly stopped crying, wiped her tears, and went into the washroom. Li Lixin and Wen Jiao wanted to know what was the reason behind her reaction but they still respected her privacy. So they decided to give her time to open up. After all, they had only met a day ago.

Gu Chunhua who had washed her face came out of the washroom with a smile, just like the one she always had. That was when Li Lixin realized, her smile is a shield to her sorrow.
