1 Prologue - A Quiet Restart

It began with a breath. I awoke in a jolt as I looked all around me and found I was within an unfamiliar room. It was bare and there was only the bed I was laying on and a door to the right. No windows, no lights yet, the room was somehow illuminated.

*Door-Click*

The door to the room then opened and in came a sharply dressed raven-haired woman who wore a grey pencil-skirt business suit and appeared holding a digital screen pannel in her hand.

"Mr Liam Smith?" She spoke as I already was sat upright as I turned to her and hesitantly nodded upon hearing my name. "Good. You can refer to me as 'Grim'. I am here to inform you that as of twelve minutes ago, your mortal life has ceased due to getting run over by a truck."

"What?" I was flabbergasted as she just claimed I died and was now dead. "Is this some kind of joke?"

"I assure you, Mr Smith. It is not." She then turned over the translucent green pad and I saw a replay video of my… my death. "You are now dead. What happens from here on is up to you, Mr Smith."

I blinked and turned to her as I was shivering but was just barely keeping my cool. As much as I didn't want to believe her, I myself can remember the shock when I saw that truck bumper just inches from my face.

"Am… am I really d-dead?" I gasped and saw her nod her head as she then gave me a moment to digest the shocking revelation. "W-Where am I?"

"You may see this place as a 'transit', a space where your next destination will be determined." She explained slowly and calmly while walking around the table and sat down. "Although this is abrupt, I must inform you of three options regarding your placement in reality. Are you ready?"

I didn't know what to say but just nodded as I wanted to keep my mind preoccupied so I heard her speak.

"At present Mr Smith. You are adhered to three choices. The first is the most common: Reincarnation. Would you like an explanation or are you set and ready to hear the other two options?" I shook my head as even I knew what reincarnation was if vaguely. "Very well. The second option is to Transmigrate into another already pre-existing body that is in line with your preferences. There will be no issues regarding this option as the former owner of said body would have died naturally upon your arrival."

I chewed on that and then lifted my head as she then promptly began to tell me the third and final option.

"The final option is to grant you a special request but where you will ultimately go will depend on your luck as the option will be randomized in favor of granting you a singular 'wish', whatever it may be if you so choose option three." I then felt like that one has the most potential as I took a few moments to decide and wanted to go with the third option. "Very well. You may now speak your 'wish' and upon its completion, you will immediately begin your next path in your continued existence."

I thought about it and decided to make my wish.

"I wish… to be able to have the inherent ability to travel into parallel worlds at my discretion." I spoke my wish and the woman; Grim, only narrowed her onyx-colored eyes which briefly flickered gold before reverting back to normal as I then saw my worldview abruptly spin. "Wait! I'm so-"

"Have a good second life, Mr Smith." Grim's voice echoed as I then felt like I got the wind knocked out of me.

No, this feels exactly like that as I then found myself recovering my vision and saw a bright blue sky along with a bright sunlight as I could hear countless voices from nearby. To my surprise, I then saw a brown horse suddenly rise up and I instinctively rolled to the side as the horse stomped down where my head was and then charged off.

"Young Lord!!" I heard a panicked woman cry out as I then gasped and caught my breath while looking around and finding I was in some sort of open field. "Oh my goodness! Are you alright?!"

I glanced to the sudden panicked voice as I then doubled over as I began to grunt and began to groan in pain as a mind-splitting headache enveloped me. Instantaneously, as quickly as the pain came, foreign memories of a 14 year old psychopathic boy had engraved themselves into my brain.

This body… I think I have reincarnated? No, this was transmigration as my new name is now 'Alden Illoran'. The third young master of the Illoran noble family within a parallel world where great and ancient families run a majority of the world.

Noblesse. I had been given a second chance of life and within a medieval world in the dark ages where soldiers used hyper-advanced futuristic weapons and used wore augmented armors and technology by replacing pre-existing internal organs using magic and 'forbidden-arts' to grow more powerful.

It was a hectic and political warring era with the rise and fall of countless empires and rouge groups.

As it happens, the Illoran are under the Vivola royal family in the Eastern hemisphere of influence where four famous and ancient noble households comparable to our own run this sector with their own land and manpower.

This world has many actors but each number in under 60.

Our side was ruled by a fairly powerful hierarchal system where the strongest fist leads. Yet, there was however, one thing that now baffled me strongly and that was… the existence of magic.

No, it is a supernatural, unknown energy and only those with immense luck and genes can pass it down through their bloodline. As one can imagine, the ancient families have the most powerful magical users who can only hope to inherit magical powers from birth.

Though, magic-users or 'wizards' as that was the official name was regarded as a close-kept secret within the political establishment yet, news and rumors of this magical power have begun to spread across the world through word-of-mouth as the new generation of arrogant noble children used it to their own benefit and caused chaos in their wake.

However, as I was left in my thoughts, I was then transported to my bedroom where I then asked to be left entirely alone as I coped with my new sudden life.

I then walked over and lifted up a circular bronze plaque on the nightstand which then showed my body's reflection.

Bright amber colored eyes. Dark azure colored hair. I looked pasty-white and with western genetics. I looked handsome no doubt about that.

It was so surreal but as I put the plate down, I then held out my hand and firmly stared until a flicker of a candle-sized flame appeared above my palm.

"Fascinating." I then willed the flame to move and soon it danced around my hand and finger-tips before I then bounced the flame over to my left hand and then back. "I have absolute control over this… magic. Unlike the original."

The original would only rage and throw a tantrum as he couldn't keep still and had no patience as that caused several of his tutors being kicked out and replaced due to his childish and spoiled whims.

But now, I was here and have become Alden Illoran. The third youngest child of the Illoran noble family and known by the nickname; 'Little Tyrant'.

But I could care less about that as I thought to only live out this new life to the fullest.

It's been three days since my arrival in this world. I have been mainly working out and doing all I could to get this slender body into shape.

I was drenched in sweat while training in my bedroom and very rarely did anyone come and bother me as Alden was a problem child no one wanted to provoke.

*Knock-Knock*

After a few seconds, my personal maid came in as she was just two years older than me. Her name is simply Hida. She has brown hair and matching brown eyes. She was a new maid after the last few had either quit, run away or otherwise left their post since dealing with the former insufferable jerk that was the previous Alden.

Thankfully, she was new and didn't know Alden all that well.

Entering while pushing a food cart, I then stopped and walked over to grab a cloth to dry my face. As I walked over to the cart and unceremoniously grabbed the pitcher of cool water as I drank it all down.

Wiping my mouth as I was satisfied, I then realized Hida was still standing by and I then told her she could go back doing whatever she was doing. I then went straight back into the grind as there was no better feeling than the present of obtaining these righteous gains.

Not long after three months passed me by in a flash, I stood before a full-sized mirror and admired my new chiseled looks. I have grown taller and stood more fairer than ever before.

Dressing up, I was still hesitant to use my wish which was having the ability to travel to parallel worlds.

I had many reservations about it but was still determined to go as I was thrusting for adventure.

Having received Alden's memories, his family had all but given up on him. His mother was dead,at her soul rest. And apart from have been born a the third child, there was no doubt that my older siblings wouldn't hesitate to get rid of me once father passed away and marks one of my two older siblings as the next heir to the family.

I didn't need to be a genius to see the signs as even the reason why the former Alden got hurt and quite possibly killed the day I arrived was because of improper treatment of the horses. The estate he grew up in with his mother was slowly falling apart and the signs could be seen.

Not only that but the budget to keep this place afloat was reduced and since Alden didn't want to pay the staff, they all left and the only one that remained was Hida who came on the same day everyone else had resigned.

"Here is your tea, young master." Hida brought me tea infuse sun magical leaves as I then took a sip of it and felt my magic circulate within my chest.

"Thank you." I spoke calmly and then decided that it was now or never. "Hida, do you have any ties that keep you to this world?"

Her face paled for a moment but she bowed and apologized on reflex as I knew this would happen as she was a very shy and nervous girl by nature.

"No, please don't get me wrong. You are not in any trouble Hida. It's just that I am going away from this place for good. And I want to know if you have anywhere you can go. I can give you money if-" Hida then burst out as she cut me off.

"Young Master! P-Please, don't talk so fast. I-I will follow you everywhere and back. My place is with the Young Master. My life and duty is devoted to you. E-Even when I make mistakes, you don't ever get mad and that comforts and confuses me… I-I… I want to stay beside the you, Young Master!"

I took a moment as I didn't need a mirror to know I was blushing but coughed in my hand and then smiled faintly as I never really got along with anyone in my past life. My parents hated me after my brother blamed me for the family dogs death. I was framed but they wouldn't hear it. So, I spent most of my adult life alone as I didn't really leave my house much considering I was an aspiring amateur novelist and a manga artist as a hobby in my spare time.

At any rate, I was genuinely happy Hida agreed to come with me.

So, without any further delay, we had packed what we could carry in our hands and afterwards, we met back in my bedroom.

"Are you ready?" I turned to Hida and she was curious as to this new 'magic' that I possessed. "Hold my hand."

I said as I didn't know the full capabilities of this as for all I knew, I could end up being sent to the shadow dimension or worse, a dimension where there is no Earth and only space.

Still, that didn't deter me in the slightest as I then engulfed both me and Hida in a bubble of my own magic that held air and could withstand anything since I was drawing from the energy that was used to conjure my ability to travel across dimensions.

Sure enough, I then began using my 'wish' and in the next moment, I felt my eyes clear as my hair suddenly began turning platinum-white and without further pause, a translucent door-frame began manifest before us and bending reality before our very eyes.

We then crossed over as I turned the doorknob and pushed the door inwards.
