34 Chapter 34: Don’t be so naïve
A colorfully dressed Jeremy decided to pay his best friends a visit. As he walked into the office expecting to meet the cute little assistant but there was no one at the front desk.
Jeremy was just about to walk into their design studio when he heard Xiao Mie praising Katie's skills.
"Hahahah, you don't actually believe that do you?" he said while hysterically laughing.
Katie and Cindy didn't understand what he was trying to say, seeing the confused look on their faces Jeremy decided to elaborate. "Don't be so naïve, you don't actually think it's your business skills that got you here." He pauses and walks towards a chair, "ok, I'm not saying your skills aren't good but you haven't been in any competition or fashion shows so how do you expect people to know you?" Jeremy gives them a knowing look before grabbing a meal to eat.
"I don't understand what you mean; if it's not all our hard work then what is it?" Katie asks him not really sure what he means
"Wait, what exactly are you wearing? Are you a clown? Why are you wearing blue pants, a green shirt and an orange jacket?" the designer in Cindy couldn't overlook his outrageous dressing.
"What? You don't like it?" Jeremy says while feigning feeling hurt
"You look like an idiot"
"A devilishly handsome idiot" Jeremy says with a sly grin, "yeah key word being idiot" Jeremy and Cindy continue to bicker continuously completely forgetting about what they were discussing earlier.
"Guys, stop it can we get back to the main point. What do you mean, if it's not us then what?" Katie says feeling anxious
"Ok, it's like this. Ruby Xie has always been feared because people believe that she is definitely going to marry James. So when she attacked you two days ago clients started leaving you right? But then all of a sudden this huge scandal was exposed about her, even if the Xie family isn't the most powerful but with the relationship they have with the Ning's people see them as untouchable. So no one in their right mind would ever expose her except a Ning."
"So… just get to the point" Katie anxiously hurries him up
"So, someone is standing up for you and that person is from the almighty Ning family. Which means Ruby is no longer important but you are. So everyone wants to patronize you and get in your good books." Jeremy lazily explains.
"What? I don't want that to be the reason I grow. I want to this by myself."
"It's not like you didn't know what those siblings (Catherine and James) where doing, they value you. You should be grateful."
"Yeah Katie, if they didn't stand up for you we would probably go bankrupt, don't be sad about getting a little push" Cindy says as she gently nudges Katie.
"I guess you are right, we should be grateful" Katie reaches for her food as her mood lightens
